Howdy fun people! Concerning the timeline of everything, if Jindiao had been defeated 1000 years ago and Kai had been defeated 500 years ago then it seems on paper that the defeat of Kai couldn't have happened before the rise of Jindiao, but when I was making the video I didn't question the order in the timeline because the defeat of Jindiao coincided with the end of the Panda's connection to the Wellspring and their purpose as guardians. If 500 years passed in between the original Dragon Master's defeat and Oogway's injury, I assume that the pandas would have already forgotten their connection to chi. Plus, the fall of Kai is also an elegant foreshadowing of Jindiao's fall to evil as well since they both craved chi and power. I think a simple explanation would be that while Kai had been stopped 1000 years ago, he continued to fight Oogway for hundreds of years until he became permanently trapped in the Spirit Realm 500 years ago. I acknowledge that takes a bit of stretching the imagination, but I think the timeline doesn't really make sense otherwise because I think it's imperative that the pandas were tied to the Wellspring when they healed and taught Master Oogway. Thanks!

So essentially the Dragon Warrior takes the position of the Yellow/Golden Dragom amongst the Four Constellation. Fun fact: despite the acceptance of the yellow dragon, there is hardly if not never a depiction of a yellow dragon with the four constellations because the yellow dragon represents the emperor or humanity.

The five of them are based off of this old Chinese myth about the four guardians of the universe or something like that and the dragon of the center. I don't really know the details of the myth but I do know that they were of the four cardinal directions, north, south, east, and west and then the center. That myth was also used to create the four digimon gods and their leader in the digimon tamers arc.

4 Constellations are based on every protector for each wind direction. Seiryuu or dragon for East direction. Byakko or Tiger (White tiger for most specific) for West direction. Suzakku or Phoenix for South direction, and Genbu or Turtle for North direction.

In the case of Paws of Destiny what happened is that Po was supposed to just be visiting the Panda Village when the panda children received their Hero's Chi and original Dragon Master revealed himself. That forced Po to stay and fight without the Furious Five's help. There's a lot less explained in the Dragon Knight.

btw in the original Four Auspicious Beasts (四象)*, the Vermillion Bird (朱雀) ISN'T a phoenix due to the following reasons: 1. East Asian "phoenix" is called "fenghuang" (鳳凰), actually a multiple-hybrid beast in the form of a bird with long tail feathers, and its plumage was usually in 5 colors 2. phoenixes are seen as the feminine equivalent of dragons, hence they are used as both matrimonial symbols as well as the King & Queen/Emperor & Empress *Vietnam's Four Auspicious Beasts replaces the Vermillion Bird with the phoenix
