Actually, Melody didn't know or find out Ariel was a Mermaid until Ariel came to find her as a mermaid once again. Also, I like Flounder for being supportive in her decisions, but I like Sebastian for his concerns about Ariel and wanting the best for her. Even if he is forced to watch her, you can see how he cares about her by not telling Triton anything about her grotto.

There are also inconsistencies with the lion guard and the lion king, and the director of the lion king admitted that LK3 (or 1 and 1/2) connects to the main lion king story tangentially. I have a feeling that the people who write these series haven't seen the original film.

I love Ariel! She has been one of my favorite Disney Princesses since I was 3 years old. I've always loved how curious, adventurous, brave, strong, smart, kind, determined, ambitious, and beautiful Ariel was. She is a character we are so lucky to have and Ariel will always have a special place in my heart. Also, I think Flounder makes the best sidekick for Ariel because not only is he her best friend but also she supports her in what she wants, even when he's scared he wants to help Ariel get her happy ending. Another reason I think he makes a great sidekick for Ariel is because she gets to take charge when she's playing with hom because since Ariel is the youngest in the family with her six older sisters she's kinda babied and knowing her she probably doesn't like that at all so I think for Ariel it's fun that she gets to boss around and be the leader when she's with Flounder.

Ariel is my second favorite princess. She's so beautiful, both with her design and her voice. What I really love about her is how expressive she is. She is unable to speak throughout a chunk of the movie, but we can still see how she's feeling with the various expressions she makes. Glenn Keane, who was the designer for Ariel, did such a brilliant job of making her an expressive character. She was definitely a step in the right direction when it comes to Disney princesses, and I still love her. My mom also loves her too, so it's nice that we have a princess we can bond more over. When it comes to which sidekick I think is better for Ariel, in a way, I think both Sebastian and Flounder are good for her. Sebastian helps her to make rational decisions, and looks out for her when her father can't. Flounder is someone Ariel can vent to and have fun with. While they're complete opposites of each other, I think Sebastian and Flounder are the kind of friends Ariel needs. Though, if I had to pick which one I like better, I think I'd go with Sebastian. Flounder's cute and all, but he's such a guppy. XD

Very informative, Issac. And I don't care what some people say, Ariel is not selfish and uncaring. She is the most kind, caring, and brave person, mermaid or human, in all of fiction. We are all not perfect and what fictional character is. We can all relate to Ariel. She learns from her mistakes, which makes her a better person, human or mermaid. And...I think Flounder is a better sidekick for Ariel. One more thing, you think you do a character study on one Disney character that I am thinking much about and that is the noble security program, known as Tron. He fights for the users. ;)

Mlp Gamer and Singing lover Ok, well, here goes: Once upon a time, in a kingdom far far away, there lived a King who was a single father who lived with his two children named Melody and Henry. Melody dreamed of one day living underwater and thus collected stuff from there. She often asked her paternal grandmother (her father's mother) about mermaids. One day, Melody asked her grandmother about a mermaid's life after death. Her grandmother told her that mermaids turn into sea foam when they die, while humans have an eternal soul. Now Melody had a positive view on death and didn't view turning into sea foam a bad thing, so she turned to a witch for help. The witch had her drink a potion that turns her into a mermaid, but the potion had a side effect: When her legs turned into a tail, they felt as if they had been banged together, but Melody didn't mind. She swam around until she found a merman prince named Alex. After spending time together, they fell in love, but Alex had been betrothed to a REAL mermaid princess. Desperate for Alex's love, Melody attended the wedding, shouted "I object" and confessed her love for him and Alex her in return. At that moment, she turned back into a human and swam back to shore. She confessed to Alex that she was BORN a human. Alex still loved her however and he had his father turn her back into a mermaid. He and Melody married and lived happily ever after. Now Melody can be happy both in life AND death, because she knows that she will dissolve into simple nothingness which, in her eyes, was much more peaceful than an afterlife.

I love the that you go into the original stories! I'm such a nerd about that stuff, and I absolutely adore old fairy tales and original versions of popular movies even though they sometimes get a little grim. Well I've played Sebastian before so in a way I'm slightly bias but I think Ariel needs both. Flounder is constantly on her side, Sebastian pretty much calls her crazy until she is practically near tears before he considers her feeling, but then does everything in his power to help her.

Ariels my favorite, Cindy is my second, and mulan is my third, these three woman made a big impact on me. Ariel taught me to independent and only listen to myself not what other people say. Cinderella taught me that dreams do come true and I will achieve my goal if I work hard enough, finally Mulan taught me that I should follow my heart and do what I know is my path.😅I cried a little while typing this thx for reading this paragraph😃😃

Ariel is my number 1. Anna is my number 2, and Tiana is my number 3. Ariel for her interesting story, independent and strong kind and not afraid to take a stand and break away from being a dumb damsil in distress, but also having a lovable and curious personality setting her apart from many Disney princesses. Anna because she reminds me of myself because I'm fun, freesprited, spunky, her chemistry with kristoff is alot of fun, worrisome, but also brave, especially in Frozen 2, enough to save the day. She even saved Anna, twice. And Tiana for being smart, determined, hard working, realistic, and down to earth as wishing is not going to make your dreams come true. It comes from hard work.

I'm sorry, but this video was not researched well enough. Ariel's Beginning can not be considered part of the same cannon as the TV show, comics and books, as they constantly contradict each other. In the show, not only do we see that Ariel and Flounder met when they were much younger, but in all media outside the 3rd movie it its shown that the age of Ariel's sisters matches with the order their names were mentioned in the first song of the original film, Daughters of Triton. They also changed Sebastian's job from Royal Adviser, to Chief of Staff, and completely 180'd Flounder's personality, keeping it from holding up to even the original's continuity. We also see in the TV show that Triton's hair was red when he was younger, not brown. You also failed to mention how Ursula was originally meant to be Triton's estranged sister. This plotline was intended for, yet cut from the original movie, but they brought it back for the musical. In this deleted plotline, Ursula ruled over half the ocean alongside Triton, but was banished for eating her subjects. This is why she has that line at the beginning of the film "back when I lived in the palace"

I love your videos but with this one I have to disagree when it comes to what Ursula wanted and Ariel had to give when it comes to a soul. All Ursula said “ Was you belong to me”, and Ariel signed away her life in servitude to the Ursula; Ariel was never in danger of dying, at the start of the deal, she would just be transformed into an urchin or one of those gangly seaweed monsters until the sea witch needed her. And that is supported by the fact that Ursula tried to hurry Ariel towards her layer at the end of the movie, after the third sunset of the third day, she didn’t attempt kill Ariel or steal her soul, Ursula was taking Ariel to her layer to hold her hostage until the right time to move against triton. That’s the entire reason Ursula made the deal she thought she was going to win no matter what; that being said also why she went through such lengths to destroy Ariel when she thought she could lose. The soul was never intentionally or unintentionally discussed in The Little Mermaid (Disney version)
