@Trill 1 why i mentioned him was becasue he was the superstar and for england was one of our besy performers from 2002-206 and in 2006 especially scholes retired. Also lampard and gerrard for england didnt perform as much as beckham. I agree tho 1996 too we had a great chance but we just lacked that moment cutting edge to beat germany plus being ultimately unlucky.

We forget in 2006 how good that Italy team was Pirlo, Totti, Buffon, Gattuso, Maldini, Cannavaro, Buffon, Del Piero etc. And in 2002 how good Brazil were with Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Carlos, etc And in 2010 Spain with Torres, villa, Xavi, xabi Alonso, iniesta, casillas, Ramos, Puyol etc. None of our england teams were better than these.

A selection of quality players doesn't always make for a quality team, their was conflicts with the Spain team between 2008 to 2012 due to most of them playing either for Barcelona or Madrid yet they went on to make history as the first international team to win 3 consecutive major tournaments. England had the players but never had the strategy, tactics and understanding that other teams had or still have today There is a handful of national teams that have genuine chemistry and understanding of one another, where this stems from is another question but it is something that England lack heavily. The media enjoyed hyping up every minute of England's progress in the world cup yet the bigger picture they faced opposition they were certain to beat, lost against Belgium's B team that allowed them an easier passage to the final and in the process were knocked out by a team ranked below them, something that happened in previous tournament (Iceland in euro 2016). To make matters worse so many people jumped on board and actually believed the hype, people were going mad throwing drinks, jumping and screaming like England had won the world cup, no they've just scored against a team they've beaten 5 nil everytime they've met.

I respect Gary so much, and I'm a Liverpool fan and based my footballing career on both Carra and Neville because I played in defence for most of the time and they were the toughest on the pitch. You'd break your back to stop the opposition and that's what they were. The toughest, loudest, controlling people on the pitch. If they kicked off on you you know you cocked up. When I got swapped from left wing, to left back and then centre back I was given captaincy so I had to model myself on them. Hold the line, watch your mates back, and don't show you're injured or in pain. Just get up and crack on. I remember playing centre mid, going in for a slide tackle and the lad opposite put his studs right though my left shin ripping a hole in my leg to the bone. I jumped up and kicked him and got sent off. Then had to go to hospital to get my leg stitched but I was in training the following day with a bandage and better shin pads. Players today are like pansies. Rolling around like they've just been shot. I got run over just over a year ago cycling, (her fault, I had right of way) I broke my ribs on my left side, dislocated my right arm and broke 4 vertebrae in my spine. I got up in the middle of the main road, picked my bike up and walked to the curb like it was nothing. Obviously the woman who hit me rung an ambulance and kept my bike while I went to hospital and found out the extent of my injuries. Got the bus home, went to hers to get my bike and just carried on as normal. Players today would not have been tough enough to play in the 80's or 90's. Thank you Nev and Carra for being such good role models

You don’t have to be mates with someone to play well together. Sheringham and Cole had a big feud personally, but always used to play great on the pitch together. It’s also normal for club team mates to pal around together on international duty. It goes on at every international team. It never stopped Spain winning 3 international tournaments in a row. But when it comes to hanging out on a weekend or after work, it's not them, it's another group. I also feel Gary is a work-centric person, which I understand as well. When it comes to work, he puts 200% at it and makes it become his life. And it's not stressful, it's just the joy of producing something great. He's done it on the pitch, now he's doing it in media. Except on the pitch it's much more stressful, winning and losing are clear as day.

6:27 "You basically just go and play and eat and d... and sleep". He almost let it out that they probably went for a piss up lol.

Fair play to Gary. Tbh Sky have hit a gold mine in some respects in relation to pundits.. Gary and Carra are hilarious together and Jose is just top class.

mate this is sad. Neville is clearly wanting some more pals but the joke about him being a 'billy no mates' has stuck and everyone thinks he's sound with it. I thought maybe he just didn't care and didn't look at any of the sky team as pals even after describing situations and outings that mates would do together lol. It weren't until he said he was the last one at parties and functions that just highlights that this geezer needs a proper pal in his life

He sums up why England's Golden Generation did so badly in tournaments while a less talented team under Gareth Southgatr did so well. Lingard, Alexander-Arnold and Rashford are best mates in England (and many others from their different clubs), but all the big clubs had their own cliques back then and unwilling to socialise with players from rival clubs.

They got an easy ride to the semi final and lost to Belgium twice. Amazing

Managed to listen to Geoff for a total of 2.01 minutes. Helmet. Spoiled that video.

I went from absolutely hating him as a player... To absolutely admiring and respecting him as a person. I could watch Gary Neville talk all day

I'm a city fan and used to hate both Neville and Carra.... but I think they're both top blokes and very entertaining now

Proper character Gary, honest and knows his stuff. Still wish we had him, Keano, Rio and a few other big characters at Utd who understood what it meant to perform and take the club seriously.

Geoff's microphone hand is inhumanly steady. It does not wobble. AT ALL. They could stabilise the video around it.
