i threw together a very basic copy of your workbench for a friend's kid. just the face vice, skipped the others. dogs and wedges for holding flat. only issue so far is the toggle style screw handles have too much friction if you don't have strong hands. a couple thick fender washers between the handle and the board with some graphite really helped and made it so the kiddo could crank it down enough to hold a work piece securely. otherwise, the bench has been solid and great for a half-grown human.

You might consider Japanese style sawhorses as a base for this mini workbench. Because of the right angle of the feet on the sawhorses it gives a lot of stability and minimizes any kind of racking. Also give you an even better stopgap until you build a full sized bench.

@rm-paradise 0 seconds ago Thanks, finally finished it. Been using it for a few weeks no issue with using plywood and pine. Inspired by your video, I made a few changes to yours: I made it portable with 10" optional legs - w/o legs sits 4" off bench, 3/4" plywood top (3'x1') with 2 rows of 3/4" dog holes on top, no wagner tail vice, both ends sport a plane stop. Made it portable so I can carry it outside without dirtying up my garage. Made the whole thing from 1/2 sheet of 3/4" plywood, plus some oak boards for the vice faces and tail vice. Total cost about $120. Made it without a table saw so don't be afraid to tackle this project. For those lefties out there, do yourself a favor and put the moxon on the right side. 9/9/2024

My mini workbench (a kitchen offcut bamboo benchtop leftover) coupled with a few 60 year old oak cupboards and a midlife crisis, ended up starting my journey from musician/programmer to woodworker. Sometimes a mini workbench can be a humble start. $0.02

Why in the world would you have built the shooting board for a left handed person if you're not left handed in the first place, silly? 🤣 Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Must have been in the zone or something. I have no idea why I did that. :)

@@StumblingBearWoodcraft Yeah it happens to the best of us sometimes. Lol. Their nice to have, helps a bunch with getting the ends square and they've got other uses too I have found while using my right handed shooting board 🤣😉.

You just never know when a left handed woodworker might drop in to give you a hand.👏

I had to quit, because of all the wobbling it is pain to watch. Strong holding is important, but stability is a must. Just IMHO

Agreed, will have to replace the folding table eventually. :)
