I mean she was literally the standard for beauty in her day. I'm so very, very sorry to hear her say that she might one day do it. I remember very well reading an interview many years ago where she said the exact opposite, that she refused to do it because, her words, "it would only perpetuate the tension". Meaning that in her opinion you're going to grow old anyway, you might as well grow old in the time that mother nature has meant for you, rather than pathetically emulate a youth long gone and (fail at) competing with the young. I'm also very very sorry that she has joined the ranks of those who actually deny in public that they've already had surgery, like Zaza Gabor and so many others who for some reason seem to think it's important to convince us that they just look naturally more youthful than other people of the same age. Why would we care? To think I looked up to her as someone who seemed a bit less fake than usual for Hollywood standards.

Unless you are deformed or have been burned, surgery is crap. You can always tell when one has had surgery even when it is a good job. 1. No you can't always tell when someone has had surgery. 2. Why not? Why not look as good as you want to? Should great beauty be restricted to those who are born with it? Better looking people get better, greater paying jobs, more choices of dates and potential spouses, if they commit a crime, shorter more lenient sentencing, the list of the benefits of being beautiful just goes on and on. The biggest opponents of plastic surgery are those who are already beautiful. Perhaps because they don't want any competition.
