Shayne's noodle arm bit after the push-ups was great 🤣
@jakethetamalejohnson1673 Жыл бұрын
Its really interesting to me how you can tell who trains for what. Shayne trains more compound movements: squats, bench press, overhead press, etc. all exercises that use a braced core, hence his extremely developed obliques. But bracing doesn’t exactly train the ab muscles for hypertrophy style exercises like crunches. But he dominated the pushups, because he obviously benches more than he weighs, meaning he can rep his body weight.
@narpster3174 Жыл бұрын
Crunches aren't a "hypertrophy style" exercise. Whether you're biasing strength or hypertrophy depends on the weight you load in order to hit failure after non-specific rep ranges. Strength tends to be heavier and lower repetition counts where you fail around 1-3ish reps, whereas hypertrophy is biased when you use a lighter weight in order to fail around 6-10 reps. You can do crunches for strength training if you enjoy the movement, which I would guess Shayne does if he trains for strength. While I'm not shocked a more complete fitness test showcases people's exercise preferences by seeing what they've obviously had practice with, it's definitely interesting. Ian clearly runs, Courtney seemingly exercises her core and lower body exclusively (I'm assuming lower body? In the video she only mentions not training upper body so I'm guessing the rest is still on the table here), Spencer clearly doesn't do anything (which is fine!). Marcus is a little ambiguous, but I assume he's just fit in general with his overall solid showing.
@jakethetamalejohnson1673 Жыл бұрын
@@narpster3174 I apologize, I was referring to crunches as a hypertrophy exercise because that’s how I see them used all the time. High reps and sets, with a relatively low weight (body weight). And I agree with you that shayne most likely does some form of ab training, but I mentioned the bracing thing being, most likely, his only form of ab training based off of personal experience and unintentional research. I agree with u tho! I’ve never had anyone reply to a comment on KZbin lmao
@narpster3174 Жыл бұрын
@@jakethetamalejohnson1673 No need to apologize! You make a great point when you mention that a lot of people are content to build their core indirectly. When it comes to direct core work, I would be careful with who and what you listen to going forwards. There's a LOT of people online who preach these weird and lengthy ab circuits which fail at building core strength/muscle and waste a ton of time. Sadly preying on the uninformed is very profitable for fitness influencers and programs, and many will give "get abs quick" or "lose belly fat fast" routines in order to do so. Always keep in mind our cores aren't all that different from our other muscle groups, and that the same strategies for building strength and size for other muscles apply to the core as well! It's been lovely talking.

As a runner I gotta say I’m loving watching Ian whoop up on the run.

One of the best eps in a hot minute, I already love the Challenge Pit vids but this gives such Summer Games-energy it makes me nostalgic!!! Love seeing both cast and crew having a good giggle together while having fun and competing

It looks like Ian still runs. Courtney's form was pretty bad and she mentioned a treadmill meaning she probably doesn't do running as cardio.
@cass12234 Жыл бұрын
@@herb_rolls yeah, it shows that a treadmill made to replace cardio for running isn't actually a good replacement

I do find it amusing that even as you try your best to follow this pretend nonsense of pronouns, you actually fail basic grammar. Not throwing shade, just highlights the ridiculousness of it all so well. As a cherry on top, you've edited it at least once. I believe you claim my personal daily Internet prize, congratulations! Edit: For the confused and enraged; "... they mentioned them have..." is not correct and what anyone who can actually read would spot as the, in my opinion amusing, error.

@@Daergarz it should be “when they mentioned they have less reps than the boys” and then it makes perfect grammatical sense. It would be equally confusing if it said “she mentioned her have less reps…” so it turns out that that the confusion has nothing to do with any “pronoun nonsense” and you’re just trying to make up an argument to take potshots at people

I absolutely love this. It shows more personality of everyone, not just the usual indoor skits (which isn't bad, but sometimes it's nice having something different). It's a more fresh and fun take on real life stuff. I hope they show more like this :)
