Let me share some personal with you. I was a huge Allen Iverson fan when I was a teenager. I tried to play like he plays and tried to translate his interviews to my language with a dictonary. That was the time I started learning English at school. Anyway, I didn't manage to understand him. A few years later I was into the music of Eminem. I caught some lines from him but it still was ca.5%. 15 years went by and I found you! It was the best thing that could happen to my English. I was never so close to understand these two persons, the improvement is breathtaking. All in all this is what I want to share with you: back than I had the same feelings about what they wanted to say and share with us with they tools as my understanding is now, when I understand them so much more. This experience is really incredible. This thing makes them the people who they are now. "It's all about practice man, it's all about practice."/Allen I./

Hi Ethan ! I am the person who is listening 6 -hour podcasts or something else to improve English listening skill. When I decided to improve my English I started to follow some English chaneland one of them was Your " Learn English with TV series ( especially Friends)" videos. In that time I was able to understand maybe 50 % of your speaking. I kept going. As you said I made Learning English fun for me. Now There are a lot of channel which I follow in English. They are not only about teaching English but also interesting topics which I love. Nowadays I can understand almost everything that you speak thanks to you. ( my 2023 goal is improve speaking skill) 💖💗❤🌹

That is very true, I am a teacher of English and an interpreter. Back in 2015 I met a canadian who told me that my English was better than hers, back in the day I was consistently in touch with the language. Then my dad was diagnosed with dementia from drinking to much alcohol. I had to look after him for five years of my life until he passed away. Now I am kind of getting back to interpretation and I feel that I am not the same. I have lost fluency, vocabulary and I even make some grammar mistakes every now and then trying to keep up with the pace of the speaker when I do Spanish to English. I get to do the job done but not really nailing it the way I used to in the past. I hope I can retrieve the practice that I had, now that I am starting to get back on track.

7:25 that guy spits the facts bro, I never really learned English but I read English topics which I'm into and also I love Eminem and football, as soon as I wake up I love to script some dreams that have appeared during my physiological state. That's really helpful, don't learn grammar (I mean some chunks you gotta grasp) but be more into what you love and passionate about, you'll be way better off to express yourself rapidly

Hello Real Life English, thank you for your time, effort, and your unique approach to teaching English. I was listening to the podcast in youtube, and for the first time without subtitles, I realized that I understood almost 80 percent of the podcast. That delighted me, and I'm incredibly happy because since June 2023, I've been listening to your podcast and watching videos of the series or movies like "Friends," I wasn't really immersing myself in English, but now, with your help, I'm finally doing it and I'm so thankful. You guys are such geniuses. I listen to your podcast on my tablet and mobile using the app, and on my computer via KZbin and Instagram. You are truly the best of the best. I love the content of your program and the way you explain all things about English. Oh, I've said too much but it's still not enough to express my satisfaction, so thanks a ton and Aww Yeah

Hi Guys, thanks for this video (and your whole channel as well), I've had this thought and I'd like to share with you... It's also the FUN part, when you recognize something when you learn English (or probably works the same way with any other languages) and you have the same or pretty similar phrases or expressions like you have already in your own native lang. Before this lesson I've never heard it but when Thiago and Ethan used it I almost instantly recognized the connection to my own version :D (And this definitely helps to memorize it!) So "killing two birds with one stone" in my language (Hungarian) we say this expression but with other words: (to strike down) two flies with one slap (or punch). :D Hope You don't mind this little feed-back-ish comment ;-) Peter
@RealLifeEnglish1
@RealLifeEnglish1 Жыл бұрын
Hey Peter, thanks for the interesting comment! You're right. Sometimes we do find these correlations between languages, even if some words are different the meaning often stays the same! Thanks again, it was great to learn about this phrase in Hungarian!

Now heres my two cents : First off that meme yes!!!! that's a perfect representation of how it feels like to speak English when you actually need to do it. Now heres a thing I don't know if any other person would agree to it or not but we dont use much English in my place here. I'm not gonna be naming where I live but what happens is that whatever english we hear is mostly from movies or songs and it gets mixed with our language. So when english gets mixed up with your native language and you dont use English as a seperate language on it's own that's where speaking English gets challenging. I do try my best to practice english separately and not rely on whatever words or even phrases I mix with my language but then again I've got people in my surroundings who dont speak english fluently I would say their level would be A1 or A2 but they consider themselves fluent because they use English words in their speech. This is a pet peeve of mine when people call themselves fluent in any language when they only know a few phrases. This turned into a rant real quick. I love this channel tho. In the past I'd not even leave a comment because i thought and feared that my English wasn't good enough. Now, I dont care about it anymore. I need to push myself and if i dont have that immersion around me KZbin helps.
@RealLifeEnglish1
@RealLifeEnglish1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing with us! I understand that might be a pet peeve as you said, but try to look at it differently - take it as an opportunity to improve your own English by helping others. Aristotle said, that 'teaching is the highest form of understanding'.
@Sunflowersarepretty
@Sunflowersarepretty Жыл бұрын
@@RealLifeEnglish1 thanks for the reply and yes I try my best to teach others but it gets frustrating when they think that I'm trying to correct their mistakes thus making me a snob or yknow that I know better than them . Also I do enjoy teaching and yes I teach. I do practise my English that way. It is hard at times but I dont let the discomfort get in the way because I believe that my efforts are compounding and one day even in the few months time I'll look back and see how far I've come and that feeling would be the best in the world. Nothing happens over night! Much thanks for empowering us.
