Hey Bald, I'm from Azerbaijan and I am so excited to see you here! I live in a northern town called Gakh. After exploring Baku, if possible, hit up the train and come to Sheki (it is a nice place for tourists) and then I can host and guide you in Sheki and Gakh (they are 30 minutes of driving apart) for a couple of days. I’ve lived in Baku most of my life, so I think I know what are the best places to visit. It’s quite chilly at the moment but you can go visit fountain square (that’s where most people hang out), also don’t forget about the old city which is located close to fountain square. But for a tourist like you I reckon you go outskirts to cities like Sheki, Qabala and Qusar(best kebabs in my opinion). If you have extra time, go visit the highest located viillage in Europe, Khinalug. Have a nice trip Bald!

I visited Baku this April. The Architecture is stunning. The old city, the center, the beachfront and of course the Heydar Aliyev center are all a must. Unfortunately, Azerbaijan is a classic example of an extravagant dictator who likes showing off by constructing mega structures, whereas most of the people are dirt poor and the amount of police on the streets leave you in no doubt that you're in a police state.
