My 12 day RUTCATION Has been awesome except for this cold November morning. After seeing several deer I kept hearing a commotion up on the ridge behind me. I first thought that it was bucks chasing does. I soon find out that this was not the case.
A doe comes straight down wind to me and has almost her entire throat blown out by a muzzleloader or rifle sometime earlier in the week. The noise I was hearing was coyotes trying to get to her.
As she walked by me my heart dropped and I thought if something don't happen soon, this deer will be eaten alive by coyotes. With my lease limit on does already used up but still having doe tags for rifle. I have to make a decision . Shoot and put her out of her misery or let nature take its course.
Watch the video and tell me what you would do.

You absolutely did the right thing. I'm registered Maine Guide and I believe in nature running it's course but there are times when humanity takes over. She would have died a slow agonizing death and she was obviously suffering from that wound. I hope more people see this and understand the VALUE that hunters have.

Thank you so much for the comment and support! No doubt those coyotes would have eaten her alive! I believe I for sure I did the right thing and that’s the reasons I wanted to release this video so maybe some else would do the same thing. thanks for watching

Jamie, you did the right thing. I know it's nature taking it's course if the coyotes were to get her, but a hunter intervened when she got hurt. So it was ethical that a hunter do what you did. Fact is, she was gonna die, you just made it merciful. Good job!!!

You did the right thing, no doubt about it. I got to hunt this morning in 25 degrees, that’s a rarity in SC, I had to pull out my winter shorts 😂😂. Thanks for sharing this video.

Absolutely you did the right thing. I'm in middle TN and have 3 doe/day limit so for me to say I would have done the same thing, isn't the same as you actually doing it. Especially with your bag limit. I had a similar experience just a few days ago with a spike. He was limited pretty good on his right front leg. Had him in my scope but couldn't pull the trigger, he was on neighboring property. But I was willing to use my 2nd buck tag to put him down. You nailed. We have to be ethical hunters when we are out there in what the Lord has blessed us with. Much respect.

I appreciate it brother. I feel like it was the right thing to do. Your welcome and thanks for all your support. I been getting traps ready to start catching coyotes right after season. Im hoping to beat last years count because man it really helped with the fawns this year. We have seen so many more fawns compared to the last 3 years.

💯 right decision! I would have done the same thing. Question, she looked like there was something messed up in her hind quarters. Was there something wrong with her back end?
@pineylife
@pineylife 10 ай бұрын
Thank you I appreciate it. I didn't see anything wrong with her rear quarters but i believe she had lost a lot of weight from the infection and not being able to eat. She actually had a hole ripped in her esophagus tube and full of infection all in her neck. there is no telling how much pain she was in.
