I bought one of these in Cape town South Africa in 2001 for less than £1000. It was very straight around the body, but the paintwork was tired, and the wheels needed refurbishment, also the interior was below average. My mechanic who worked from his garden completely restored the engine and gearbox, which cost me altogether £400, I had it fully resprayed in its original colour of champagne gold, the job was also done in the panel beaters back garden, while his brother completely reupholstered the interior, seats, carpet, doors, even the boot carpet.The seats were finished off in a beautiful cream leather, all the oak panelling was made like brand new, and the chromework made to look like new. All this body and interior work done for a total of slightly under £1500. Finally I had all four wheels refurbished at under £20 per wheel by a specialist. It looked better than this one, and it was an absolute head turner. I'll never love a car like I loved that one and all for under £3000. In the end after owning it for 4 years I have it as a present to my mechanic for his retirement day, along with his very own personalised number plate.

You need to bear in mind, the buyer of an S-Class is not a hormone-driven youngster, but rather someone who has 'been there and done it', he's at the age where 'bling' is no longer important, he's more interested in the car.

My father had one in Europe in the 90’s from the Middle East and it first got there from America. With American specifications. I was a kid as the girl was in the video when my dad had this in gold, very few years old. Back then. I remember sitting in the back in a limousine. It was the longer version. I think he had the only such car in the country that time. I was about 4-5 years old. When I was 3 years old the last soviet soldier left the country. Most cars were soviet or East German made on the roads.

Oil pressure should be at max pressure on start up, not 1.5 bar

If the engine is warm up the oil pressure can be at 1.5 or 1 but when you give it gas it should shoot to max you 😎
