1) неплохой ограничитель ( правда пример использования не очень, цена гидролифта 2-3л А95, или 2 пачки сигарет, или 1 большая шаверма, и если хозяин автомобиля не может позволить себе такие растраты, то для безопасности окружающих пусть лучше ездит на метро) 2) струбцина, самая обыкновенная струбцина, на которую было потрачено кучу времени и которую можно заменить самым дешманским сварочным магнитом 3) шпатель, думаю больше ничего говорить не надо и так всё понятно.

1 example: nonsense! just drill the gas lift rod and tie the cotter pin on a thread and when he opened the door he inserted the cotter pin into the hole on the rod and the gas lift body will rest against the cotter pin and the door will not close. everything is much simpler.

Or replace the lift rod, they're fairly cheap and drilling a hole in the old one weakens it.

Shock cooling of the welding seems not to be a good idea. The material of the sawblade is at least tool steel if not high speed steel. Both of them tend to become brittle when shocked. At least the area around the weld sould be annealed by heating to dark red and natural cooling.
