It's such a shame Birkenstock discontinued the Pisa model. I happened upon a pair on sale in Santa Monica 30 years ago that were so cheap, I bought them, despite them being a woman's model and with kinda crazy colors. I ended up LOVING them! Best Birks I ever had. (My wife bought two for $15 each because her feet are tiny and they ALWAYS have close-outs in her size. Not fair!) So I designated them my "house shoes" so they wouldn't wear out.* Well, after about 15 years, they had given up the ghost. I wasn't as good with cork sealant as I should have been and let them get bad. But Barge cement has been a close friend for sure! So then I had a friend pick up a brand new pair about 15 years ago in Europe and they've treated me so well. But they, too, have finally reached their end. How sad I was to find not only the Pisa discontinued, but size 43 a lost cause. Regular EBay checks over the last few years didn't pan out until last week, I found a brand new pair in 42 that fit just fine. Oh happy day! So now I'm gonna be diligent on cork seal as well as using oil to prevent the leather from cracking under the ball of the foot. Seems like the leather dries out if not treated. So here's to another great pair of slip-on Pisas that are a true joy to wear in the house! *I've worn out many Birks over the years and found they just don't stand up to wearing outside like other sandals. Sport sandals are a better option for active outdoor use.

I agree wholeheartedly on the Pisa - such a great style! I ask about it every time we shop with our rep for the new season. Birkenstock is notorious for discontinuing styles and colors and will every once in a blue moon revamp an old style - hopefully they will bring this style back. As far as the crack in the ball of the foot, that is a sign that it is overdue for a Recraft. it isn't recommended to to treat the suede in the footbed with an oil. What is cracking is actually the cork footbed, the leather is just a casualty of that process. A recraft is where we take you entire shoe apart and put your uppers/straps on a BRAND NEW footbed (this includes the suede liner, cork footbed & sole material). In your case this process is totally worth it because as you mentioned, this is NOT a style that they make anymore. In conclusion - I'm so happy you were able to find a pair of your favorite style which is now rare and we can restore them to a like new condition when you have completely worn them out.

I will consider it for the pair I'm now wearing. Do you provide this service? I guess I can find someone in the SF Bay Area who can do it. Living next door to Berkeley means I'm in Birkenstock heaven and should probably just open my eyes! Ha, ha! Oh and thanks for the advice about not oiling the footbed. I'm one of those geeks who wears socks with Birks - I sweat a lot, so clean socks keep them so much nicer. Thanks again and best to you!

@@DesertBirkenstock Thank you so much for your informative reply. I may send you a pair of my Birks... I called Beck's and they don't do repair at the Berkeley location. But thanks for the suggestion. Funny, because I just peeked my head in there a few weeks ago while visiting my kid at Cal. So I know it. Further irony: they're headquartered in Campbell, where I had one of my first high school jobs. Anyway, Beck's sent me to Model Shoe Renew on Shattuck in Berkeley. They perform all manner of shoe repair, in addition to full Birkenstock restoration (recraft). I'll bring one of my Birks there as well as a pair of leather sole shoes I need repaired. So thank you again so much for taking the time to provide me some great leads! PS Luckily standard socks work great for me, despite the endless derision!!! Ha, ha!

Do the Arizona’s come in regular or just narrow? I love the yellow!

Hi Neda! I am so sorry for the incredibly overdue response! The easy answer is YES, but it's complicated...Some colors of Arizona come in both Narrow & Regular, some only in Narrow & some only in Regular - there is no rhyme or reason to which colors get which width. Most but not all core colors come in both widths, all core colors come in Regular. When it comes to seasonal colors or prints, most of the time it is in narrow only, but not all the time....trust me when I tell you that I realize this is not entirely helpful information but it's a question we are asked on a daily basis and there just isn't a clear and concise answer. One thing to note about Narrow Birks is that you may want to consider sizing up if normally wear the regular width - for instance, I wear 37 Regular and 38 Narrow. This isn't always the case, but something to consider when purchasing Birkenstocks. We ALWAYS recommend visiting an authorized retailer like Desert Birkenstock to have your feet measured and trying things on if you have the chance. Thank you so much for watching! Tiffany
