I always respect the pvp vid process but Im glad Im not missing out on a lot of damage without a great wep... Have had OEB for almost 7 months now without a single 2h drop to claim... In the process of making my own vid but was worried about the damage... seems like its about the same.. still a great vid man!

It's not about the hits. It's about how much more often SoComm procs with a slower weapon, which is really the problem most retribution paladins have. To win as a paladin, you need these things: Slow Weapon Speed. (3.5 or slower) Knowledge of when and where to use Consumes. Hit Points. (5100 unbuffed.) 24.1+% Crit. Priority in that order. If you get all three, you dominated. If you don't, geared and skilled members of other classes will regularly beat you. Think about your average, blue-geared ret paladin with an OEB: 3.4 speed OEB. No consumes outside PvP Potions. 4400 Hitpoints. 25% Crit in blue PvP and BG gear with agility enchants. These guys cannot compete against an AQ geared warrior, where ironically, a Judgement paladin (or AQ40 geared paladin) with Hand of Rag can, and it's weird: You get a Might of Menethil (3.8) or Hand of Rag(3.7) or even an Ashkandi (3.5 speed, but has a LOT of stam - Maul of The Redeemed Crusader and Claymore of Unholy Might are actually significantly better.) You get consumes (Major Healing, Major Rejuvenation, Whipper Root, The Burrower's Shell, etc.) You get 5100 hitpoints by having Ring of Reckoning (Nefarian) and the Tank Bronze Dragon ring, a 24 stam neck (Nefarian's head dragonslayer neck), and... you will MOSTLY win your fights 1v1 against most geared opponents. The Crit is mostly icing that makes you look stylish and -scales- your existing survivability by a percentage equal to your crit (because you need to outlast your enemy for a shorter time) ... but 124% of a low number isn't that much higher until you get your other stats up. The real strength of the paladin has always been grinding opponents into the dirt by just being an immovable object that is just too hard to kill. Even getting a slow weapon is about making sure your damage is *consistent* throughout your long life-cycle so you can actually do the calculation as to how long till your enemy dies vs. when you die: When they can't kill you they keep trying but they over-invest, and your health keeps going back up. I see a lot of paladins with amazingly hard to get gear that probably pissed some of their guild members off and lose a lot in PvP because they aren't prioritizing the gear that will have the MOST influence on their gameplay, but rather? Trying to get the pieces that piss off their DPS guildies the most that are prestigious and people notice when a paladin has them at the bank: But don't have the most impact on a ret paladin's day to day life. Stuff to get: 1) Slowest possible 2-hander. 2) Shield with +block% and Slow 1-hander (Death Bringer is ideal; BIS Phase 1 - 6 even over Servo Arm.) 3) The biggest hitpoint pieces you can lay your hands on. Rag-cloak. Judgement. Etc. Stamina Enchants/ZG enchants. 4) Any crit you can fit in WITH survivability. (Don't use Sacrificial Gauntlets for PvP.)
