Okay honest constructive criticism on character arcs and their growth, for real no hate. But I don’t know what the hell Bruce Timm is thinking? If Harley Quinn were to be intimidating she would not rely on her physical stature, she would rely on her intellect to be menacing. But that’s just The Joker. Literally that’s HIS character. The Joker manipulated the psychotherapist!!! THATS MENACING INTELLECT, he can absolutely control most aspects of what he is. He’s just literally insane, so he is the sometimes whimsical mostly scary one,(in most cannons). Harley Quinn was the perfect Foyil to that, a lot of the time whimsical and sometimes serious and scary. (but that makes her scary moments TRULY scary…that’s the point, the CONTRAST within her character) Stop trying to fix what ain’t broken, her character (the way it was made) is perfect already, literally her first appearance ever, he had to deal with Joker being an abusive boyfriend who threw her out a window, and she had to deal with the choice of whether or not to stay or leave after acknowledging that Joker gave her this new life of freedom and crime that she loves so much, setting up this perfect character growth. What THIS is doing is literally just making The Joker a woman. It might not be intentional, but you and the creators of this show just aren’t thinking this through.

They could do both, have him be a cgi character in fight scenes and he just takes on a human look the other times. I think an even more detective movie than "the Batman" could work great for clayface. With clayface shifting into different bodies in order to get away with stealing from the company who made him the way he is. He could also use his shifting powers to break into places without breaking doors, leading to the only evidence being some slide he left behind.

They promised this would continue in the spirit of B:TAS. It doesn't. As for the 1940s Batman by Bob Kane... its unreadable and this is a poor take on that as well. This looks weak and cheap. One character's neck is as big as Bruce Wayne's thumb. His own neck is a foot long. Nice anatomy! Bruce Timm tried to make it easy... Harley redesign sucks. Over-powering her is another sign they just don't get this character.

Backlash on the reveal was warranted IMO. The suit is fine as most seem to agree. I totally appreciate what Gunn was trying to convey but this particular pic probably should have come along side a more cleaner heroic pic. Not just one, but two - if not more. There is race diversity in the world of Batman. Such characters do exist. Why not simply include those characters instead of forcing a race swap on every Caucasian character just because? If it were done in reverse, people would be kicking up hell. (Ex: Lucius Fox being changed to a ‘white’ man.) And Lucius is a perfect example of a racially diverse character that could have been given a major role in the series in order to make it more inclusive. Cassandra Cain is another.

The superman photo has been blown out of proportion IMO. Robert Myer Burnett from The John Campea show made an eye opening comment. He thinks the photo was a candid photo of David on set putting on his costume... not a scripted shot of superman getting ready for battle. Going back and reading Gunn's caption of this photo, this made a lot of sense. It also explains why the suit looked all creased up and unflattering. You'd imagine Gunn would never shoot superman hunched over putting on boots (or if they did, creases that show up on the suit would be CGI'd). Eitherway, my trust in Gunn remains... I know he will direct an awesome Superman movie.

Gunn is inspired by All Star Superman: I believe Solaris was one of the villains in All Star Superman. Solaris has injured Superman and have blocked the yellow sun while fighting Superman; this is wear the damage on suit came from. I see a green light striking Solaris in the picture as well. Superman may be injured and weaken from the first fight. Green Lantern and others are distracting Solaris while Superman recovers. First impressions are everything. And it’s a terrible first impression. If someone has to write a 75 page thesis to explain a simple photo then it’s already an L. I mean come on. I am so hyped about Caped Crusader! I was looking forward to it before, but finding out that it’s set in the 40s makes me even more excited. It’s perfect for noir vibes and detective stories, and I’m already loving what we’re seeing in terms of character design and color palette. I hope we get a sneak peek of what Gotham’s architecture looks like too. I love that they went in with the goal of doing something different. Some of the recent non-traditional takes on Batman have been really refreshing, and I don’t understand why some people have a problem with them. The Batman story is one of our great modern myths, kind of like how people used to tell stories about folk heroes like John Henry or Paul Bunyan or demigods like Hercules. The story is simple and powerful, and the character motivation easy to understand: a young boy loses his parents to violence and decides to dress like a bat to fight crime and protect others. We feel empathy for the boy and understanding for the man even though his methods are extreme. We have seen many different takes on Batman and many different innovations over the years, and I’m so open to the more non-traditional ones like this. I know some people didn’t like Winston Duke half-jokingly putting his name out there to be Batman, but why not? Why not put Batman in the 1940s, or have him hunt Jack the Ripper, or have him be an emo boy who listens to Nirvana? I love them all, and there is more than enough room for all of them to exist. If someone doesn’t like a particular take, that’s fine - there are many more to choose from and those people can just move on.

I disagree Kevin Conroy had a great Batman voice but there is definitely room for different interpretations. Different stories you're telling deserve a different Batman voice. And I think trying to have everybody replicate just Kevin's voice will just lead to worse performances. if everybody's trying to replicate Kevin Conroy then nobody will be making the role their own, honestly Kevin wasn't perfect neither is Mark Hamill. They have become fan favorites for good reason they've been great voices, personally I prefer Troy Baker, and Roger Craig Smith as Batman. I personally believe if you make Batman sound one way you're just going to box the character in and leave little room for innovation.

It's hard to capture it in an image, but it does just look like he's leisurely putting on his suit while people are dying by what ever that is in the sky. You can say we'll he's just calm, and using super speed, it only takes him a few seconds, I guess. I think it'd work much better with out the orb in the background though.

sorry, but the whole “we don’t see Superman suiting up“ is total BS. Throughout most of his comic continuity, we see panels of him dressing in the Superman costume, whether it be in an alley in a car or a telephone booth, which most the time it is, but the point is that there’s no sense of urgency in James Gunn’s photo. the city is in peril and he’s taking his time suiting up in a skyscraper? The reason people keep putting that pose just on the Kent Farm as a backdrop is that it makes sense if he’s taking his time getting up in the morning to go fight all day. It just doesn’t make sense him being all chill while the cities in danger like that. maybe him taking a boot off the end of the day looking down at a peaceful world is a better version of this photo.

How is anyone impressed with an animated show of batman these days? How many times are we gonna have to see batman pop up in different places and keep it interesting? Oh wow a dude who dresses like a bat fighting crime, sound familiar? That's because we just had 3 batmen and now were about to have 2 again and now an animated series. I wish these people would stop spreading the IP thin and get going on innovation. Why on Earth would you waste your time on a Batman animated show when you're suppose to be giving us a Batman sequel and you need to start promoting that ASAP.

Tsuruko Haraguchi was the first Japanese (Asian) woman PhD in America - 1912 (in Psychology even). So, not so out-there as I first thought. (And, I'm aware African-Amercan was class related back in the day... many had crossed the river and were described as "swarthy" instead of Black -- perhaps even Abe Lincoln.)

Andy Serkis directing and starting in a LOTR Gollum (my favorite character) movie - gets nothing but FUCKING YES! From me. The issue with Harry Potter has nothing to do with Harry Potter - it's the creator who's presence looms over the entire project. Plus with her personal feelings now towards Daniel Ratcliff & Emma Watson for their stance on her trans comments... I'm not interested in some 'reactionary' story from her that's going to completely exclude the leads (who if we're being completely honest, everyone literally watched HP for in the first place). Nah, I'm good on Potter if she's going to be over it.

My reaction to the lord of the rings movie went like this. A new movie awesome, Warner brothers: It's about Golluem, WHY?! . And that's where I've been since the announcement Warner brothers hyper fixation on him is really getting irritating and this movie does'nt sound like it was well thought out. No matter what people are going to know how it all ends because they need to connect it back to Fellowship of the Ring. And there's a good chance Aragorn will need a recast which will also piss people off. While filling in the gap does sound cool I don't think it's so big that it needs a movie to tell it, I want to see them do something past Return of the King already.

Really excited about Lord of the Rings. It is my favorite movie trilogy of all time. Didn't love the Hobbit but didn't hate it either. They easily could have made that into only 2 movies; there was a lot of fluff. Not sure how I feel about Andy directing but glad Peter has his back and will be with him the entire way.
