I love this song but it definitely pulls at my heart strings to see John looking so broken and Brian struggling to hold it together long enough to make it through the song. All three of them look so lost and heartbroken. Freddie left a lot of music to be sorted through after he died but it took a long time before Brian and Roger could actually be strong enough to work with it. Brian said it was so difficult for he and Roger to spend hours with Freddie's vocals, piecing them together and at the end of the day be forced to accept, yet again, that Freddie really wasn't there. It seemed as through Freddie was still with them in the studio, while working with all that tape. Queen was a family and it was devastating for all of them to lose Freddie, it was like losing a brother. John was so traumatized that he retired completely from performing. In my heart, I hope John is still playing and recording music or at least writing songs. He is such a talented musician, it would be a shame if he walked away from it completely. Thank you for your reaction. You held it together far better than I ever do when listening to this song.

Roger said, that Freddie is still a part of their mental wallpaper. He and Brian spent more time together after Freddie's death than with Freddie, but they are still missing him and we miss him, the Legend too.

Yes, loss doesn’t fully hit immediately. They didn’t record this song until 1997…Brian gave it to Roger and he didn’t listen to it fir several months. They were definitely a family. Roger wrote old friends about Freddie. It’s a great song too, very Roger.

Watch The Making of No One But You. Brian and Roger do all the talking, and John is just his usual quiet self, but in his face it's clear he's completely devastated. I completely respect his decision to retire. But I'm also happy Brian and Roger (along with Spike Edney) are still performing Queen songs live, with Adam Lambert on lead vocals. Saw them in the US in 2014. Adam really does their songs justice. Adam's voice is otherworldly. Freddie would love it.

ROGER HAS A HUGE STATUE OF FREDDIE IN HIS BACKYARD OF HIS HOUSE. BRIAN HAS FREDDIE TOURING PIANO. tHE WEEK AFTER FREDDIE DIED THEY WENT ON TV TO DEFEND FREDDIE BECAUSE THE SCUM PRESS WAS ALL OVER HIM AND THEY FELT THEY HAD TO DEFEND HIM SINCE HE WAS NO LONGER TO DEFEND HIMSELF. IT IS ON KZbin. THEY LOVED HIM. AND STILL DO.

The clip of Freddie in the blue shirt and tie is from the video of Headlong. He also wears a shirt and tie in the video for I Want It All.

Brian said they knew Freddie was gone, but the reality of it didn't really hit until the news stated Freddie had died.

Thanks, Kash! Brian wrote this ... the last time they recorded with John after Freddie passed.. (hell, yeah, either Brian or Roger could have fronted vocals in a band.. )... great video... when they bring out the Freddie clips, I always get a little "teary"... appreciate your reaction... (p.s. Brian's hair was always that way.. still is, only now a bit thinner and silver.. it wasn't a "style".. just grew out of his head that way... lol)

Brian and Roger have sung on almost every song Queen has recorded, singing backup and harmony. I have to say, it was a bit disturbing to see you smiling and laughing so much during such a sad song.
