It's better but it's also kinda bland. The story isn't interesting, the zones are kinda meh, and the flashy features go stale pretty fast. Just feels like a lift up from Shadowlands with all the issues of WoW still kinda there though. Would have been better to take a bigger que off of Classic. Like, the beginning of WoD and most of Legion were the highlights of modern WoW with the beginning of BFA being the last bit of quality and everything else just... Lost the touch.

Zone being big isn't an issue really, especially with dragon riding (well, when you can use it). The real issue are the zones being generally uninteresting and congested with trash mobs.

While I agree with DF not having much content (right now) I prefer it that way. More time to just have fun with doing random content, instead of worrying of losing player power because you didn't do XY content every day/week to get your YX powered power system.

For me, it is a matter that last expansion burned me so much, it was the straw that broke the camel's back. I really like the theme of the current expansion, in fact I've always wanted a full dragon theme expansion, but last expansion was the end for me. I moved on to other life projects and games. Not only that, but I really don't feel the drive to grind for hours to see the story, do all dungeons, collect all toys, armor or farm mounts. Not to mention do it all over with alts. So for me, Blizzard is late with this expansion.

i’m loving DF so far. i really only have one complaint and it’s that the crafting system is VERY overwhelming. while i do think the new crafting system is an upgrade from the old one, i think they split a few too many hairs, if that makes sense. seeing what a spec does upon taking it and maxing it out requires knowing a lot of new terms but also it’s too general in its descriptions. i think a bullet point synopsis would be best. showing what happens immediately upon taking a spec and what you can do when maxing it out, the recipes you’d learn and abilities you gain, etc

I actually had more fun in BfA than I have currently in DF. I pretty much skipped SLands, but when I did play it was "meh" at best. To note, I have also been playing on Classic servers as well. Maybe it's the rose tinted goggles, but I prefer/miss the simplistic feel of classes in WOTLK (WOTLK specifically because I feel like this is when classes really felt flushed out/complete), and classic has just reminded me of that. I feel like players wanting/expecting to keep specific spells/abilities from covenants and legendary weapons, and blizzards implementation of it in spec trees, has ruined the classes I have loved/mained since vanilla. I probably wouldn't feel this way *if* I never touched classic, but here we are. Class abilities feel so congested in comparison, and I think I'd be enjoying the game if there weren't like 40 extra abilities added to every single class since BfA. Also, just throwing this out there but, in Legion when Disc priest was originally reworked, I LOVED it. Going back and playing disc priest on WOTLK made me realize how much I miss the old spec though. For me, I think that people trying FFXIV/coming back to WoW and wanting it to be the same game, has also done so much harm to the feel of the game. WoW is allowed to be different from XIV, they're different games. You can play them both. I do have to say though, DF is one of the best looking expansions they've ever put out. The art team did so fucking well, and I did genuinely enjoy the leveling experience and taking time to just admire the zones. Catch up *seems* easier for alts, which that's cool, but it just doesn't feel like I'm playing the same game I played midway though BfA and throughout earlier versions of the game though. In some ways, yes it's better. In other ways? Not even close to being better.

yeah...the abilities thing i agree, but also putting those in surely saved development time...which u know, shows that clearly they are overloaded, many small issues still linger here and there. But about class skills from SL and stuff i do think that having SL looking abilities in DF clicked very badly for me, now my brain got over it but i would love too see them visually changed to better match their respective specs, its kind of thematically out of place and a constant reminder of the last expansion... I do enjoy playing my arcanic pulsar boomkin tho xD so im not complaining about that, just thematically really

BUT, yeah they haven't done a visual change to spells in, what? 6 or so years? So I do think that's 1000% overdue. Dragonflight is an okay expansion. However, modern wow has far too many things I hate about it to the point where I honestly don't know if any expansion can actually retain my interest. It's entirely possible that next expansion is best thing since wrath, but I'd still quit after 2 months because of them not getting rid of 'that one thing' I really hate, which could be like one of dozen things.

Played SL on first month of release, a month in the middle and another near the end of it. Also played DF only first month of release. I can't explain it.. Ultimately I hated Shadowlands but I was more excited to play it, doing the Raid and lots of PvP.. In Dragonflight, I enjoyed dragonriding but couldn't get excited enough to do the raid or stick to the PvP. One could argue I've become jaded to WoW, but I've been jaded every since MoP.. I couldn't pinpoint what it is with this expansion. It feels devoid of vision and feel for some reason, even tho the world seem fleshed out.

The two things that made me peace out was the fact that I chose the wrong Class (leveled a Brewmaster Monk with two gathering proffs) and when I restarted on my Rogue (which was Mining/Engineering) I felt very apathetic because the centaur zone is soooooo booooring which took the wind out of my sails. Second thing is being bombarded with so many quests once I hit level cap in the capital city I just felt like 'Yeah, nah, screw this.' That and the professions give a vibe of either you no life it or don't even bother.

I 100% agree when it comes to professions. I feel like being bombarded with quests is not a new thing though, and is actually better than it has been in the past 2 expansions by a wide margin. I would like to see some changes made to help people learn the game, but being at a loss for what to do has been a staple of wow since it was released, and it has not been much simpler than this iteration since, im my opinion, vanilla wow. Additionally, quests do not matter anymore for player power outside of the main story quests to unlock the ability to make higher level crafted gear, which are clearly labelled by a specific quest icon on the map that is different than the others, as well as being shown on the top of your quest log and map at all times. The only thing about your comment I am confused by is feeling like your Brewmaster was the wrong spec to choose. It is a spec with huge potential. It can tank very well and does very high damage compared to some other tanks. It is not the best tank in the meta, but that is only relevant if you are pushing the highest end of content. It is more complex than other tanks to play but that has been true basically since its inception. Point being, I understand some of your points, but this is one of the most alt friendly and casual play-style friendly expansions in the history of the game. Classic through WotLK was simple, but grindy. Everything from Cata to Shadowlands had huge time commitments as well, on top of a very obtuse game design that forced you to play every day at risk of falling behind. This expansion, you can be geared for raid and M+ faster than ever, and if you like PVP, you can straight up just buy the starter gear on the AH. Though if you did not know any of this, that is an issue with letting players know how friendly this expansion is for that and failing to teach.

@@Flydroi I think it was the fact that my Brewmaster had two gathering professions as opposed to a gathering and a making profession so I felt like I was missing out on a sizable chunk of gameplay by not playing a class that did have said professions (like my Rogue). But since I had progressed so much on my Monk and had to start from scratch reputation wise it kinda demotivated me. To even make Engineering useful while leveling you have to have the Expedition rep up to level 7 (or something I can't remember exactly) to get the explosives blueprints. By the time you do get up to that level you're pretty much max level anyway and I couldn't enjoy the primary reason why I got engineering in the first place all the way back in Wrath. As for the end game stuff, I'm a pretty casual player and none of my friends play the game. I'm kinda intimidated by the horror stories of pubs going round the internet so I haven't really bothered with M+ and with PvP I tend to have a curse where I'm always on the losing side regardless of what faction I'm on.

“Boring. Not enough to do. Lack of content.” There are plenty of things to do. It’s just not jam packed with stuff you need to keep on top of or fall behind. That’s not a bad thing. I like being able to just chill, do some dailies, then log off and do other things. Last couple expansions it felt like you didn’t have time for other games and couldn’t have any other hobbies because you had to spend 5 hours every day running content. Now it’s hop on, do some quests, easily get the weekly rep quest done, or just fish for a couple hours. Then go play another game you like, or work on that crafting project, do some chores, spend time with family, go outside. Yeah they’re “playing it safe” but it’s such a breath of fresh air. I remember WoD when they kept saying “savage” was like the keyword for this expansion. For DF I’d say it would be “breathe”. I think WoW really needed this reset, to slow down and re-examine the game and what Warcraft means.

7:25 legion only had *one* M+ instance on release. Maw of Souls. Doing any of the other ones was a complete waste of time. Any key that was not MoS was instantly deleted to the point where blizzard made it so you *couldn't* delete your keys anymore, and had to mid xpack change how AP was rewarded from them in order to allow you to do the other instances in M+.

I feel apathetic towards M+, as I don't really like the current dungeon pool. Raiding is still fun, leveling alts is still fun (I think the main story campaign is more fun than Shadowlands, though less fun than BFA), and there's a lot of transmog stuff to collect from Renown. Right now I'd say this is a "B" expansion, passable but nothing to write home about. We'll see what 10.1 and beyond offers.

Going from the system convoluted, expensive legendary, stuck to your spec, no alt friendly-Shadowlands, and having to sit in LFG to find some asshole to flame you in arena to the opposite of that, where I can level any alt I want and have them geared through solo shuffle, I must say that the game has never ever been more fun to PvP in. Also, I have seen more world pvp activity than any expansion after classic, which makes me not mind the queues as much. I think critisising DF without highlighting the good parts isn’t good for the game. However, nerf assa rogues.

While I myself am on the side of the fence that is unimpressed with Dragonflight, I'd certainly say - unimpressed is a lot better than 'actively disgusted by'. And as much as the expansion might not be what I (and many others) wanted/hoped for, from a more wider "let's make sure we're still here in 5 years" perspective, it is a right move. Sure, people like me and others might leave, but people leaving was inevitable given the recent history of the game. Hoping a single expansion would make all leavers stop or those that left come back in troves is a pipe dream. WoW team is doing the most tactically sound decision - minimizing the player loss and sort of "cementing" those players they have to then, I assume, build up on a lot more stable foundation with further content. So while I plan on sitting that one out (despite Evoker tempting my healer main brain that felt no love in years), I feel confident that if they stay on this path I'd come back. And I doubt I'm alone in that thinking.

I totally agree with you about how blizzard should balance the game around the average player. As a PVPer, I feel like their class tuning is really only meant to balance things out at the top #1 or AWC level. And even then, certain classes get a lot of favoritism come nerf time. A 5% nerf to hemotoxin today was the only change to Assa rogues, for example. Really?? And the way the MMR system works is insane. If you start losing more games than you win, good luck getting your rating back up ever. Go 4-2 in solo shuffle and gain zero rating, go 2-4 and lose 50. Come on man, I know I'm not the best player, not playing a meta class/spec and not using a million keybinds and macros, but back in MOP you could easily climb to around 1800 with just a little sweat, as a semi-casual player. Now it feels like it's kinda rigged. However, I do still like the game. It's fun making plays and winning arenas, or timing a high key in M+, when it does happen. Chasing achievements and all that. But Blizzard's bread and butter is drip-feeding us seratonin, and I don't see that changing ever.

I've stopped playing after 2 months. Even though there was a major rework, I do not find the classes fun. PvP pacing feels bad, PvE stuff is same old - I'm bored of it. I have been playing this game for 14 years - a "safe" expansion won't do it for me anymore, when there are so many great games out there. I would like to see new BGs, different PvP gameplay than arena & rbg, new mythic+ affixes without fortified/tyrannical and some new features that are actually fun and not a chore.

I think DF is better than the past two expansions at this point, I am happy that there aren't any mandatory power grinds beyond the core loot threadmill that wows endgame consists of. The fact that I capped all four factions, not because I had to, but because I wanted to, and now can completely ignore world quests if I don't want to do them is a real breath of fresh air to me. I get that for someone who only plays wow, it might turn stale, but for someone like me who likes to dapple in other games when all goals in wow are met, this is a godsend.

I’m having a lot of fun with DF so far, and haven’t been this excited about the story since Legion. Sure there’s still problems, but it’s clear Blizz is now actually listening to player feedback and actively working to make the game better. I mean just look at everything coming out in 10.0.7. There’s already more content than what was in 9.1, and it’s not even a major patch. It makes me wonder how insane 10.1 is going to be.

Right now, there are only two expansions I played from start to finish. TBC and Legion, and only in TBC I raided with a stable group trying seriously to take down the hardest content the game had to offer. Normally I stop playing after 2 weeks or so. 1 Week for Shadowlands. In Dragonflight I'm playing everyday and I'm raiding in heroic with a stable group. So... Yeah, for me DF it's the second best right now (I'm the 1% of the community that really dislike Arthas story, so played WoTLK for a month or so). If DF plays it's cards right, with the traiding post (exactly in the spot for me), some old gods doing lovecraftian hentai here and there and good raids, it may become my best expansion so far. So yeah... I'm really enjoying myself with this one. I know my opinion is weird, but considering how bad Shadowlands was and the close I was to delete my WoW account then, considering DF one of my two best expacs it's saying a lot.

Considering I am not playing DF, I do think it is a better expansion than the last two. It added a new travel option, yet still only in the current zones. It added a much better talent tree system, the crafting seems nice but from what i have read and watched it seems like it could use a lot more work but a good start, now lets make it relevant while levelling. Speaking of levelling, it is still horrendous at low levels, and no i refuse to play the BfA start whenever i did play lol. I will say they need something new for end game systems, raids should always give the best items, hot take I know but it's the truth. M+ while a great way to enable more dungeon usage, it shouldn't dwarf Raid gear and I know it is a hard thing to balance unless they make M+ gear better in M+ than in raids like PvP gear. Either way I knew where this expac would go end game wise and I don't know if i'm disappointed or happy, hopefully moving forward they can make more improvements than screw ups

While DF is a step up from BfA and SL, the writing is still ass, and apathy really is an apt description to how I feel to the game now, as a result of this tedium. I barely play outside of weekly raids with the guild, and have been spending most of my gaming time on other games. Once you reach a decent ilvl, DF just doesn't feel worth playing.

I'm actually feeling apathy for DF, because I'm done with average at best expansions that only add some icing on an old moldy cake. I believe wow needs to either get a sequel or a complete rework and relaunch. The game is almost 20 years old, running on an engine that's even older, and that has probably not been updated enough. It has felt dated for years now and yet nothing has been done to modernize it, graphically, technically or gameplay-wise since cataclysm. When I expressed these concern, people told me that it would take too much time and wouldn't be worth it, which I can get, but since FF14 is currently updating the lighting system and adding a bunch of decoration to old zones to make them fresh, what is wow's excuse ?

Me? I don't hate Dragonflight, but I don't love it either. There were parts of Battle For Azeroth and Shadowlands that I did like, a lot even. The Horde zone quests in BfA were rocking, the Venthyr covenant story and all of Revendreth were top shelf goods. The Maw can eat a brick, but Ve'nari, that was some amazing Voice Acting. Compared to the discount G I Joe cartoon voice acting and one-beat stories in much of WoW. I'm looking at you High Exarch Turalyon (that accent, a mish-mash of vaguely British and snotty New Englander) and Raszageth (Not since Rita Repulsa on "Power Rangers" has there been such bad voice acting). And the whole Primalist story so far is as transparently predictable as an Adventures of Tintin book. As for game population, well... I see lots of level 70s in Legion and SL zones, doing world quests, farming transmog and mounts, working on achievements, etc. I see almost no one doing Dragonflight content other than Primal events.

My dad and some of his old guildmates have come back to the game so I've been properly doing dungeons n stuff with them. I just love evrything about Dragonflight. My only problems is that I thought the Centaur qere really uninteresting and I renown grind is a bit slow but those are really just nitpicks at this point.

In the past I would always buy the new expansions on release and give them a go, but after BFA and SL I decided not to buy DF straight away and wait to see what sort of reception it received. Fun and enjoyment of activities are always subjective as what one person finds fun another may not, so the mixed reactions to hating or loving the current expansion I take as is, just personal views. What has stopped me buying the expansion as of now is not the differing views on what is 'fun' but rather looking at the unified criticisms, the main being that the expansion is full of bugs in gameplay (from the new features like the trading post/crafting etc. to current questing) the complaints of bugs are consistent. I keep a check on the forums and the constant complaints about bugged features is the reason I won't purchase. I don't care what others say about it being a step in the right direction, or the best expansion compared to the last two etc, if I buy a game and then pay a monthly fee to play, I expect to be able to access all of the content I wish without any problems. Do I expect it to be bug free? No of course not, but what I don't expect is features consistently having on-going problems where even the fixes tend to break something else. This is not an Early Access game and I am always surprised at how defensive people get when there is criticism on this issue.

The Game is dying and doing the safe bet that is BF is good for a business move but really the next move is re-hiring alot of top devs in the business and giving them near complete control over the next Expansion of the game. If they make a new bad ass expansion that builds on everything else and fixes alot of bullshit from the last two, I would get back on the game for sure

I think that’s why it’s okay this expansion is “slow”. They need to find their Warcraft roots again, give the game some space to slow down and breathe and reset after the mess and chaos that was Shadowlands and at least half of BfA. Then come swinging in with a badass expansion. I really think it’s the next expansion that will determine if WoW still got it or if it truly is an old dying game.

I haven't been able to get past the Bastion quests in SL, took me three tries on three alts to even get past the opening in Oribos. Dragonflight has been a lot of fun. Only been back two months and skipped SL and I don't regret missing out on it, lol..

I just wish they made leveling in WoW more fun, i mean sure i can play classic where leveling and gearing felt more meaningful but still i like retail and their classes/races so i would like just better leveling, make gearing and questing matter a bit instead of just most people dungeon finder all the time. Just my opinion. I like dragonflight alot more than shadowlands atleast.

You don't gotta do shit, farm mythics and after that explore, RP, gather, manipulate the auction hall on your server and brag about it to your "Friends" like some wall street D-Bag. The sky is the limit when your grinding takes up an hour for the day/week/month.

New Blizz Decanonising the bedrock lore was a mistake. they famed it as "so we can have more flexability" when that they were saying was "we're going to fuck this over a table now" Proto-drakes are dumb, like _really fucking dumb_ , they're basically to the Five Flight Dragons what a monkey is to a human; same tree different Branch. the reason why the aspects were chosen and turned into dragons was because those few handfuls that were exceptional, showed the promise of being more than just big dumb beasts. Centaur were supposed to be bastards in every meaning of the word, they have no concept of peace outside of beating the shit out of their enemies. we Know the titans dont give a shit about the life on Azeroth. we've known since Ulduar in Wrath, they have A NUKE ALL LIFE button FFS. the only reason why they showed up in Legion was to slap Sargeras into a naughty corner, who was a titan once upon a time, the titans only gets involved if a Titan is involved. hell we hit Algalon so hard in his unmentionables that he felt some level of empathy for a mortal race after eons of wiping out _entire planets worth of life_ because Azerothian's don't go down without a fight. fighting for the world they call home is pretty much a universal trait among all of her races considering how many times shit has tried to fuck it up and that shit has had the life/spirit/essence beaten out of it in response. and worst of all we literally traded Malfurion for Ysera...just so she can sit on her ass because the Idiots in the story department wanted some fucking Hades and Persephone bullshit if you wanted to bench Malfurion and Ysera why not have them just chill in the dream because Ysera needs to sit in there for a while before she can pop out into the living world again? that way she can still sit on her ass and Malfurion can sit on his ass too, or they could be protecting the world tree sapling. Im annoyed at it because they clearly haven't fucking learned not to fuck with legacy characters. the only thing I kind of like right now is the time travel bullshit quests with the rifts outside of that there is more a case of apathy for me too, every new couple falls into one of two molds (either gay or Beta male with a warrior wife), every story beat is resolved by having some feels/a bit of a cry and or hugging it out, we don't have our badass old men anymore. I didn't hate BFA as much but I feel like the old god shit with N'zoth should have been its own expansion and shadowlands went too fucking big and didn't use enough Legacy characters outside like...four and that specific one that IM STILL MAD ABOUT. at this point its like Im already on the bullshit merry-go-round might as well just finish the fucking ride. hopefully the Night elf heritage quest next patch isn't shit (edit: it was >:c). but I do agree that us average players are always playing catch-up to the hardcore tryhards who have min-maxed the shit out of everything up to having best optimized talents that you basically just copy paste into WoW. I mostly only Solo Mog and mount run now because I have nothing to prove and just want to make my characters look pretty. partly because I get all the loot and partly so I can take my time and enjoy the run without those minmaxers bitching about Damage or how my Item level is too low, Bitch I am a Beast Master Hunter, my one job is to protect and support the healer, you slap the boss I make sure your heals are being crammed into your various orifices' so we can complete the run and we all then get to go do something else. the only wow News I really care about now is whether or not DoubleAgent reached max level again.

Now that DF is over, I can honestly say I enjoyed BfA more. Stone me for it, but i more or less skipped DF completely after the first patch. I might be biased, because I really didn't vibe with the Dragon stuff but I'm playing The War Within now and I like it more.

Bit late to the video, but oh well. So, I have been an on and off player since WoD, and the love-hate relationship with WoW has been an ever-fluctuating thing. Did I HATE BfA and SL? No. Not exactly. Art design and a couple gameplay things (not Torghast, I'm talking dungeons and raids) were pretty cool. But all in all, I'd say DF is pretty rad. I just came off another retirement right when it came out since I hit that slump and needed time away. But returning over two--three months ago was really worth it. It's a safe XPAC and feels fun and inviting for new players. Hell, my girlfriend said she even wants to play it since it looks so cool. That says something.

Me and my guild quit after seeing raid was a revamp of bosses we already killed and there is only 1 interesting dungeon. Since we’re into progress we need to replay content we dislike every day so we quit just a week after raid released. SL was way more interesting and it brought new lore (no matter how average), new characters and the gameplay we have in DF - so DF changed nothing related to gameplay, gave us vanilla like dungeons and really easy and non-memorable raid built of diff bosses in the past. PvP is broken and lore should’ve been right after or during Cata. It’s a miss but casuals might enjoy it so we all have diff tastes in games and wow is still alive. But right now most of the playerbase is casuals, top guilds and boosters. We, mid-top guilds are not playing. Feel free to compare names from last expansion. SL was hated for lawsuit and it was great while final raid and patch content was perfect. This comes from someone that didn’t miss one expansion and never quit wow - until DF. Ye, I survived even BFA. Just enjoy what you like and don’t let anyone influence you into thinking otherwise is all I am saying. For me, DF brings nothing to the table, rewritten content 99/100% for story with SL gameplay. Talents choices are imaginary.

So far DF ruins everything we know just because they are out of ideas and it all started with Legion. SL story is meh but it’s a new meh. That means a lot from my perspective. It’s the first leap into complete new and from that stand-ground I would love to see more. I am tired of “oh this is what actually happened” and them rewriting story 24/7. Spoiler, kinda: Next patch rewrites first DF patch and more of Cata lore. I really am losing interest. We just didn’t had enough content in SL so we pay attention but you would be surprised how poorly Legion lore was. And hey, I loved Legion as an expansion but lorewise it was horrible from start to the end but you know, Illidan, Guldan, KJ… we are just suckers for nostalgia. Truth is that wow will never be as good as it was and lore died with Arthas so now they just give us what we think we want. I can talk about my 25 years wasted in warcraft universe all day long, but there is no point since everyone have their own or their influencer opinion. I would love that YT and twitch goes off for a month and see people think for themselves once again.
