Most makers I know use their grinder vertically, but also hold their blade diagonally or vertical while grinding to get an even grind. I prefer this as well over using your grinder horizontally as you can keep an eye on your bevel during grinding in the vertical position.

Cheers Rob! When I (finally) get a grinder, I will make sure it’s a tilting one because it looks like an easier way to grind in my opinion!
