Oooh that pastel set looks awesome. Sometimes my white paint pen is just too white and stark for covering the black lines, so what I have recently discovered is that I can tone down the white by applying gel crayon on top of it with a sponge, but the sponge is not good for detail work so those pens would be very helpful. Thank you for showing all the examples of using the pens, your pages are beautiful!

Totally agree with this video, I have a range of paint pens, I use to help remove lines I don’t want, Sadly I had a lot of issues with my Tooli art pens, most of mine kept blocking, and they were very frustrating. Current favourites are the Arrtx ones, had no drying out with these yet. (My Tooli ones were the older style ones, so hopefully yours are better) I’m very tempted to try the pastel ones. Thanks for the video, makes me feel perhaps it might be worth trying a new styled set👍🏻
@alisamartin14372 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem with them blocking.
@shelscolouringjourney2 жыл бұрын
Ah that is very annoying. I have luckily not had any issues with blocking yet....I swatched my first set of pens in July so tried all the pens, and I still haven't had any dried or blocked up. But I do tend to clean my pens after every use, so not sure if that helps ensure the nibs don't get blocked up. They are still working great....or maybe it is the new styles of pens like you said 🤗💗 if you try them out again, I hope you have better luck this time round 🤩
@wendyscolouring2 жыл бұрын
@@shelscolouringjourney I did notice the nibs are different on yours, mine are felty type, but your look plastic, I was dipping them in water and wiping them, but obviously felt, just wasn’t coming clean. I’m guessing plastic nibs will be an easier and more effective clean. Might try a new set, and see how they go, as they do have great colours, it was the earth/natural pack I have, and the colours are great, but they have drove me daft. Good to see the difference, that’s for sharing them, x 👍🏻

My ivory posca pen isn’t even opaque. I shakes it and used it a couple of times but I can’t get a lot of color out of it. No idea if I am doing something wrong. Great coloring with it, Shelly. Thanks for the inspiration. ❤
@shelscolouringjourney2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I totally agree with you....I do struggle to get good opacity with the Ivory Posca - I tend to do at least 2 layers to get full coverage with it....it's good to know I am not the only one who finds that 🤗💗

Thanks for sharing! I have these pens but haven’t swatched because I don’t use them often and didn’t want them to dry out. Would you suggest swatching and wiping clean, or just swatch as I use them, which is what I have been doing.
@shelscolouringjourney2 жыл бұрын
So I haven't yet had an issue of any drying out yet, but I do tend to try and clean the nibs as soon as I am done with the pens....I have had the Earth and Skin set since July....would that be long enough to figure out if they are drying out? You could always wait to see how the ones you have used so far behave before swatching them all out just to be safe. Hope this helps 🤗💗

I just found your channel and definitely will be subscribing!! I get so frustrated with the Posca white and seeing all of these options of colors to use is amazing 😊😊 do you use your finger to spread the colors when you want it to look more spread out like the lamp lighting? Will you be doing a video on how to use them? Looking forward to watching more videos ❤❤
@shelscolouringjourney2 жыл бұрын
Welcome! So glad you found me 🤗💗 Yes I used to think Posca were good but then realised that was occasionally having to put 2 or 3 layers to get the opacity I needed. So far with the Tooli-art I have not had this issue - 1 layer has been working perfectly. Lets hope it continues to be the case. Yes I do occasionally use my finger to spread the paint colour in certain situations which gives a great effect. 🤗💗

Curious what pencils you recommend for Eriy books?? Your colorings are outstanding!! Want to try these pens!! Thanks 😁
@shelscolouringjourney2 жыл бұрын
I just discovered in last month's colouring (you can check out my completed pages for Oct 2022 where I discuss), that in Eriy's English edition of her Romantic country books, it helps to use a base of watercolour pencil or probably just watercolour and then any pencils on top - I tend to use the Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer pencils which are watercolour pencils, wet for the base and then I use them dry over the top. For her Japanese edition books, I can work straight with the Albrecht Dürer pencils dry as the paper is a lot nicer. I am sure I have heard people use polychromos and prismacolors too. Hope this helps 🤗💗

@shelscolouringjourney Жыл бұрын
They don't bleed through for sure. With regards to the backgrounds....the size I purchased are too thin, I wouldn't recommend a background with them. If you get thicker nibs, then I think they could work for backgrounds. 🤗

Thank you for sharing. What is the best way to store these type of pens?
@shelscolouringjourney2 жыл бұрын
It's my pleasure! The pens should be stored horizontally (I have placed them in a pencil case) and I would recommend wiping clean the nibs after using a pen so that the paint on the nibs doesn't get dried up and block the pens (you can use alcohol wipes or warm water). I haven't had any blockage issues with the pens yet and I make sure I wipe them clean after every use. Hope this helps 🤗💗
