I am not hating on vanilla or the idea of legacy servers...I am just saying that you can't bring back time.Even if they made exactly the same expansion as it was back then with the exact same patch notes it wouldn't be the same...not even close...times have changed and it would just be a shitty copy of current WoW with not so many things to do.old school players who already played it just want to try once again for nostalgic reasons and players who haven't played it want to try it out and see how it was back in the stone age..either way both groups would get bored after few months.However if they really do want to make legacy servers I think it would be a much better idea to do it with expension like WOTLK or even TBC! Legion is a really good expansion, but I would still prefer a legacy realm over Legion to be honest, and if Blizzard were hosting the legacy realm, it would be fucking beast! I didnt play back then (tbh i started in 6.2, so yeah csll me noob or whatever) but i watched videos about older expansions and I do know now that vanilla was fuckin annoying. I wouldnt even test/try it i guess since it takes ages for max level. and you know what? i fuckin loved WoD, the game was new to me and i had the same experiences and feelings people had when they were playing vanilla back then cause the game was so fuckin new to me i literally started blind i didnt know shit. i mean i didnt even know STR was the main stat for my warrior i just equipped everything new i got when it had more Armor (yeah i thought armor was most important for a while i didnt even bother about stats). and i was really fuckin excited when I got my first flying mount when a level 100 from my guild i recently joined carried me thourgh that wotlk mini raid with 100% mount drop... tl;dr you explained very well that vanilla was good because it was fresh but now it would be utter shit! btw if theres a expac id like to play it is wrath cause i love the theme and the lich king and many people say it was the best ever xpac and i know it is not so shit game-wise like vanilla so yeah

Alexander I don't play original wow series since pandaria (u know passive unkillable hp reg warrior and broken frost mage) today wow is all about 0skill burst and who plays the current broken class. To be honest original pvp players are trash. Just take a look at hunter how easy they made that class to be and took 2/3 of the hunter spells.

Bro, holy shit. I actually remember Aenariell, too. Her name was Erika. She literally taught my 11 year old ass how to play a Hunter. I use to spec into beast mastery/survival back in the day after AQ40 was released. I met her when i was level 7, and she was 21 in Teledrassil on her NElf hunter. She was fishing, and i literally thought that was bad ass and i slow typed trying to talk to her in-game. She helped me out, gave me food, and gave me some fish and told me that this was a low level spot to train fishing + how to fish. I added her, and that day on i periodically talked to her for help in the course of the game. Possibly the nicest person and the reason why i loved my Hunter so much. She told me a spec into Marksmen that you needed for raiding rather than PvP, and she taught me how to kite. Its weird. So many memories and the community was fucking amazing back then. I had no idea she was in the #1 raiding guild in Drak'thul. I pugged for her guild once in ZG. They were doing runs for their new recruits. I just know that i wanted to be in the guild, but it was an older guild and i sounded like a chimp. Funny thing is, i can't remember the guild nor mine. Lol, i still have her added on my myspace. XD Drak'thul was a low populated server, but i remember her and like 1/2 other guilds completed Naxx on our server. I didn't think of it much because i had no idea even remotely how to get attuned. I just remember always traveling to the Eastern Plaguelands and being sketched out not just by the mobs, but the fucking geared out hordies teleporting up. Yes. Nostalgia up the ass.

I would totally pay for TBC game, just like they were back then. I left Legion because - even though I find it 2nd best after TBC - I got bored pretty fast and warrrior gameplay changed so much, it is no longer fun for me.

Even TBC is questionable but still 10 times better than Vanilla...PvP in TBC was basically Rdruid/Affli vs Hpala/Warrior or in 3v3 shamans with blodlust...PvE was piss easy once people got better at the game and had at least 5 keybinds...perfect Legacy Serveras would be either Wotlk or MoP in my opinion!

PvE was so piss easy in TBC it took top guilds MONTHS to kill bosses meanwhile Legion has hard bosses who fall 7 days on MYTHIC DIFFICULTY after release :D

Back then some bosses were bugged (vanilla), and everyone was SHIT at the game, and top guild werent pushing all fucking day 20 hours a day to achieve the world first unlike now. Also gear is MORE accesible right now, top guilds do split runs to gear up their core clases and be ready for when Mythic realeses. Now we have players who are better at their classes than the fucking devs playing all day for weeks to push world first with months of preparations from alpha, beta or PTR. We have simulations, addons of all kind in which those raiders have techs who set them for them at the same time they're pushing the kills. Put the best guild from TBC try to kill a Mythic boss from... they wont And btw Archimonde Mythic was the hardest boss in the history of wow, it took over 500 wipes for the best guild with the best pve players in the world to kill it, Illidan, Vashj, Kaelhas, Kil'jaeden, Mu'ru are a fucking joke compared to Lei Shen, Blackhand, Garrosh 10H, Paragons 25H And yes EN was beaten in 17 hours. WITH months of preparations from Exorsus, Xavius was a joke for them, and just because the crazyness of Titanforged and Mythic+ withouth save per week

What you're describing are exactly the reasons why people want to play vanilla. Retail and Vanilla are not the same game. They bare the same name and look kinda similar, but in terms of gameplay they're very far apart. One of the strongest aspects that entice people to play a vanilla server is the world. There are no teleports, there are no fast travels. You live and play in the world with all the other players. And the world is harsh, the npcs by themselves can pose serious threat if you're not well geared or venture in to areas you're not strong enough to go to. Not to mention all the players that can attack you. That static world also creates a community within the game. Individual players become valuable friends as you play with them. And if you screw someone over? News travels fast and there will be consequences. There's no denying that Nostalgia is a huge driving force behind the vanilla server hype, but there are real reasons to want it as well. The retail game has made great advances in game quality and playability. But with all the quality of life and quality of content improvements over the years a lot of other stuff has been lost. Stuff that is still alive and well in the vanilla/legacy server world.

Watching it again after i lvled 2 60 characters in new Classic WOW, i agree with him 100%. Actually, I think the reason why most people liked Vanilla so much, was because nobody had ever seen something like that before. But now, there are more advanced games. This was why I would think it would last only a few months. People would experience nostalgia and memories, but it would basically be nothing compared to Legion. No hate directed toward people who actually liked the game back then, but it will just, after a while, just be a sh*tty version of the game now. This is why I will play Battle for Azeroth and not Vanilla Servers. Pilav, is actually right.

my personal expirience with older expansions (private servers): I played from the ahn quiraj patch until today on the real server (how much money did blizzard suck out of my anus lul!?) i tried my first private server in 2007, molten wow. it was FUCKING FUN, it was the same expansion but u could do NEW things, and NEW things were always fun. with the years passing by cataclysm came. nobody compared about the dungeonfinder in wotlk, everyone was HAPPY AS FUCK. but Cata, dude it made things too easy, too casual. look at warriors back then, they could have the best gear, but lv fucking 37 axe from an instance that gave u 10 second bladestorm was with a CHARGESTUN just strong, fun, and "personal". the depth of the game is dissapering since cata. thats why i went on arena tournament in 2011. cata wasnt fun ( it was but not for months like in the old days) private servers got boring too, nothing new... MOP came, everyone was hyped. IT WAS EVEN EASIER same problem but wow got a new side, this cinematic story telling style. but thats not what gave u the feeeeels back in the day. it was the DEPTH and beeing UNEXPLORED. Dreanor? dont get me wrong but, FUCK THAT SHIT I HATE FACEBOOK GAMES 50% crit rune openworld pvp against moonkins? fun.. yea.. NOT. You could even duel people in your garrison and also, only like hardcore roleplayers would have Binds to Account gear. I dont know how people can say that wotlk and BC was best time when you just do the same shit. In Legion you can play every single spec different. There are so many playstyles with JUST Demonology or Marksman Hunter instead of just taking MM Hunter and its the same like every other MM Hunter in this world. Now everything is different. You can specialize your spec to one ability or eevery ability or something like that. You can change talents for 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5. You can change it for BGs or PvE. So many things to do now and you guys loved it more when you just do the same fucking shit? In Legion there is not "The best spec or talents you should get" or "you should do it like that" no in Legion you can do it how you like and based on your playstyle. Fuck your BC and Wotlk you can have a good time there but now its Legion and it has better things!

I joined the game during wrath, and played on a vanilla private server halfway through cataclysm and never really played retail that much since not because of money but because I get bored 1 month after every new expansion and I haven't really got bored of vanilla even after multiple days of gameplay, that's why, in my eyes vanilla is more fun to play and it seems like it also is for thousands of other people.

I think that legacy servers should be made, if anything just to preserve a piece of mmo history for people to check out and play on full time of they wish to. Looking back I feel like I enjoyed vanilla way more than I have any other expansion but then again I was 16 and had never experienced an mmo as polished as wow was. If / when they bring the servers out I think it would be fun to have a second main on there.

1. The difficulty. Vanilla and TBC were way harder.. leveling, dungeons, quests, raids etc. Almost everything was a challenge. The only challenge that is now days, is mythic raids, and rated pvp xD 2. It didn't have any "pay to win" bullshit. 3. No flying. (TBC had it tho, but only in Outland) 4. No crossrealming. 5. No LFD/LFR. 6. No heirlooms. 7. Gear mattering in pvp. 8. Pve gear being good in pvp as well as pvp gear. 9. Shitloads of content for both unmaxed characters and maxlevelcharacters. (Content is luckily not a problem in retail atm, but only for maxlevel characters tho) These are the main reasons why I like Vanilla and TBC better than retail...

I did.Had level 60 warrior with full Grand Marshal gear which I got by being semi afk in AV because I couldn't come close to the fight without dying to x30 Elemental Shamans or farming undergeared Horde players at the graveyard in WSG....however I didn't do PvE that much because it took 10 hours to form a group

The game was bad in Vanilla when actual skill required for PVE and PVP . The game is SOO GOOD when u can hit for 27 million by spamming a button that HIGHLITED ( for pro players like you ) out of the 4. Pilav Style.

13-15 played time to ding lvl 60 because lack of quests. Random level40 elites in zones for lvl 25 that 1 shot you and make 0 sense. 0 mechanics in raids, 1 spell rotations, horrible itemization and armor sets, no arena etc. You are right only thing I miss is the great gaming community which was friendly and socialized more. Today all we have is either trolls or gold sellers spamming in trade chat. Making these servers is just a waste, most private server players play there because they are too cheap to spend money on wow and unable to deal with today's mechanics and dedication it requires.

I agree with every single thing you said. WoW was fresh and new back then and everyone has fond memories of that time just because it was something new. WoW today is fun, convenient, but not as hardcore back then, but okay, we've all grown up and haven't got time to sit for 12 hours killing the same mob over and over waiting for that crusader enchantment recipe drop.

Vanilla WoW could by definition be considered an entirely different game from current WoW, because of the following: 1)The only similarity of Vanilla WoW to the current WoW is the game engine and the location/character names. 2) The following things are different: levelling, professions, talents, character abilities, gear stats, pvp/pve balance, character/location/zone models, quests, dungeons, raids (redone, rebalanced, moved or deposed off), And since it is an entirely different game, why are you talking about nostalgia? I'll make a simple comparison blackjack an poker are different card games (like Vanilla WoW and Modern WoW). My friends and i used to play blackjack a lot, now we play poker, but suddenly one of my friends will say: "Lets play some blackjack istead" You think people will laugh and belittle him for wanting to play a different game? Of course not! So why are you belittling people who want to play Vanilla WoW?

Even though you are right on so many level pilav, I have my reasons to like vanilla and some are general reasons, but some are more specific. For example, as a hunter player, I miss when I actually had a quiver both aesthetically and as an item. I also liked buying pet food and arrows/bullets. Same goes for rogue poisons reagents and other classes and their reagents etc. Was it fun? Nope. But it was immersive and made me feel I like I really inside the game. The combat system, currently, the new combat is no stop clicking fighting pressing buttons so many spells flying pewpewpew I dont even know whats happening sometimes. Its a matter of choice, but I actually liked the slow paced combat system of vanilla. Less spells flying in the air, less aoe and you didnt have to click 100 times in 1 minute. Class quests while leveling, these arent essential but made me feel immersed. You actually had to read quests and find that place on the map. We had thottbot and google yea, but it wasnt forced on me, I either asked people or used these sites when I was really lost on the quest. You can read quests that in legion too, and I do for the lore, but it still feels like braindead with blue bubbles showing me everything even if I didnt give a single fuck. Money actually mattered, everyone now shits gold. Farming it was... well, hard and time consuming I get it, but you were happy when you could buy that 100g gear on AH or buy that epic mount. Also, you werent forced to farm, nobody showed it down your throat. You wanted to do it for your own ideas and progression if you wanted to, and you could listen to music and chill while farming mines/herbs etc. Not everything has to be "omg so fun" for the game to be enjoyable. Spending some chill time for progression was a good thing, even though it was maybe too hard in vanilla, but its much better than shitting gold in legion, of course, in my opinion. Professions mattered because finding gear was hard. You could craft low level gear and sell them on AH for reasonable prices like 2g for low level people to buy. Low level items are now 2k gold cuz transmog reasons. Now low level players dont care about crafted gear because of heirlooms or gear from quests and becaue questing is fast, their gear is gonna change in 1 hour anyway even if they didnt have an heirloom. Crafting max level gear also dosnt metter because you can get better items from BGs, world quests and andgame pve content. Crafting is still irrelevant in the game. Questing was slower and harder, you had the possibility of getting killed getting lost etc. It was slow and hard, but in my opinion, I liked it because I was feeling like I achieved something everytime I leveled up. Now this, "ugh I gotta be 110 asap and do this and this". I know its just an opinion, but its what I feel. Gear is given too many times and It isnt like you're happy when you get a gear, you're mad that you got a low ilvl or wrong secondry stats. Even a rare item was very satisfying when you got one. Also, the items and stats and standardized in pvp that you cant customize anything with them. Just get higher ilvl. Vanilla had its problems too when it took 2 hours to form a group and 2-3 hours to actually run it... I agree on that. I'm actually still kinda on the midground there. I was an unknown travaler back then and now I'm the hero of everything. Of course it came with the lore and and progression of the story, but I still would prefer it if I was an unknown traveler. It again in very opinion-specific but in MY opinion, I really liked it that way. Battlegrounds and pvp was limited, and the honor system was too flawed that you had to farm for weeks for some ranks and months for higher ranks, I actually dont like that system either but I liked the old AV. I dont want to spend 5 hours in an AV? Well, I could not join AV then, go AB or WSG. More BGs would be better but I still like those basic 3 BGs so its ok for me. Also, BG-wise, realms werent crossrealm so people actually knew each other in pvp or pve. I liked knowing people in pvp(I was a pvper). Playing with people I never see again(even if I did I wouldnt know) and saying k thx bye... killes the immersion for me. Yea its 90% about the immersion for me, but about gameplay, not about lore. I may have forgotten some buy hey! I'm sorry for making this too long. Again, its just my opinions that why I would like vanilla/legacy servers. Having legacy servers wouldnt hurt Legion players in any way. Its clear that some people want it. I can understand why blizzard doesnt want to make them because people might stop playing in 2 months and legacy servers would have been made for nothing, and they would have to hire nostalrius staff or another staff to make it so and spend money... But I dont understand why legion players dont want legacy servers. We wont bite you :)

The reason many people want vanilla servers back is because of the social aspect of the game back then , wich has been mostly destroyed nowadays because of Group finding tools , lfr and *drummroll* Flying mounts . I dont think people love the technical aspect or the unpolished code from 2004 .
