Idk if you realised but you were were losing most of the melee fights in the tier 3 fort because one of the buffs for being a tier 3 fort was +60% melee strength

Jackiefish bro do all the units have 120 men and if so if you kill them does that count for one unit model or is the amount of units less than the actual count of units in each regiment
@somerandomperson828211 ай бұрын
The AI clearly has a problem. The British troops on other sides of the wall were just standing there doing nothing while you approached them from within the fort. They had no enemies to shoot at outside the walls so should react and turn when you get close.
@JackieFishHD11 ай бұрын
Yeah, I noticed the AI struggles in Static battles like forts, to react to what the player is doing. Field battles they seem to do okay at it.
@huntclanhunt969711 ай бұрын
Hopefully they fix it before release.

Idk honestly. The ai had that skirmisher on the flank, the two units held in reserve were protected from the arty. As soon as the Americans breached they we’re set to fire. It wasn’t that terrible of a plan Igf the cannon got the shot off

Agree. Until now it has be quite disappointing both in battles and in the campaign map. In battles they either attack even if outnumbered or decide to flee altogether (I think that they should be able to at least understand when it is no more worth it to fight, since they would still preserve some troops for the campaign map). Moreover at the campaign level I’ve experienced severe passivity from AI, they almost never attack, in my campaign for example they have 8k men in a city and my city on the same border has 2.5k, they could literally win the campaign altogether but they do not attack unless provoked, they never plan an assault on multiple cities at the same time or an order to capture them, the only time they attack is “by chance” when they see a completely unguarded city. I hope in a multiplayer mode but I doubt we’ll see one.

When I attacked Ft. Ticonderoga the ai did not have that issue. Interesting

This is fantastic. So much better than what total war is doing 😅 - would love a ultimate general set during the 30 years war 🎉❤

30 yrs war would be so atmospheric. The Napoleonic Wars & revisiting the American Civil War also sound very appealing. I loved UG CW. Great battles & army management but this campaign map takes things to an entirely different level. Truly a TW killer

I have found that after winning a battle it is usually best to charge them. But after they retreat the melee charge doesn’t do much and you usually can’t catch them. So after they start to retreat I change the charge into a single click attack that shoots them in the back, it doesn’t always get surrenders but I have found it gets them more often than chasing them and not landing a charge. And if they don’t surrender getting a volley or two into their back is still pretty effective.

I'm in love with this game. And it also has capabilities of being set in other eras I'm pretty sure. Maybe Europe map in a medieval time period? Who knows! So much potential. And yeah I agree this game can definitely get better than total war. Thanks for the upload!

routing units should retreat to the nearest friendly settlement, or just give every settlement a base level garrison so routing regiments cant immediately turn around and capture a settlement

Seeing how Fort Ty is still there to visit and look at, fixing the incorrect and janky designs of these forts would be a huge milestone for the devs. But the way troops are currently managed I’m not sure how more realistic forts would work, maybe a “man the ramparts” button or something.

Kinda disappointed that the cover system seems unattached to the physical battlefield? Like why is everyone in the fort at 100% cover when they're obviously standing out in the open, like the entire fort is just considered max cover?
@pierpar725511 ай бұрын
yes the map is not physical, it is drawn and has “properties” (for example when you put troops in forest they get a cover bonus), I prefer it this way since I don’t like micro management in this kind of games; but it’s about personal tastes I think
@awakeandwatching95311 ай бұрын
the game is abstracted, the gfx are just to show you what is happening.. i didnt think id like this way of doing it until i played their first game UG Gettysburg and found that most of the time whats shown in game and whats going on under the hud is seamless enough that you start to forget its just an abstracted representation
@pierpar725511 ай бұрын
@@awakeandwatching953 I think abstraction is by definition within every representation (especially in the case of a videogame), and if in a game I am impersonating a commander I prefer to focus on the “high level” things

speaks for the state of this genre. its sad, 2000s and 2010s were a very ambitious and innovative time for strategy games. Micro transactions and a drive to appeal to a larger audience has ruined things
@pierpar725511 ай бұрын
in my opinion it is the best option one has if loves historical strategy games, it has not the graphic details of an empire total war but I’ve never seen a better way of representing a conflict at both the campaign and tactical level at the same time

Sorry but i could not get why people are ao hyped about this game, battles look way cartoony and small scale, a far cry from the more realistic depictions in ETW or NTW.

because its abstracted, its more like a real time version of the turn based musket war games.. its a sacrifice im willing to make especially for the far better battle ai compared to empire and napoleon whos realistic mods are still held back by the games hard coded ai
