I thought it was a bad internet joke when i saw the news, I was a huge fan and was just starting to learn guitar because guys like him -he made it look and sound so fun with crazy style. I felt so robbed and sad when I read the news. RIP.

I'm 43 next month and I know first hand Pantera was a monster band the reining fucking king's of Thrash Metal I saw them with Megadeth in 92 In Omaha Nebraska and it was one of the hardest most brutal mosh pits I've ever been in and I'm a tiny 5'1 girl always 120 or less getting pushed by metal crazed dudes it was awesome one of the best experiences of my life!!!! Dimebag God rest his soul was one of the best guitars players who ever lived there will never be another like him a true Mozart.. Pantera for life🤘👊

The reason there was so many people there was because the Russian government promised the youth a concert if they stopped doing whatever it was they were doing when the USSR broke up..and the youth asked for american rock and metal concert and whalla they got it and I believe it was free too...I may not be 100% accurate, but thats the gist of it was reported to be 1.2 million people there estimate of course..Was Pantera, ACDC, Metallica and a buncha other bands...

My suggestion for a trip, White Zombie - Electric Head part 1 (The Agony). It's not their biggest hit, but it's a hell of an into trip. White Zombie is a Groove Metal band that played with Pantera a lot.

1.9 MILLION was the official count that day in Russia. They stopped counting because the gates were over run and I was forbidden to go by the DOD. I had a friend in Darrell and hearing of his murder hurt me, their legend still remains in their music so I do have that and seeing people that otherwise would never know it finding it is bringing peace. That concert was 1991 in Russia at an air base that right now I cannot remember the name of, and the authorities lost all control so official numbers are 1.9 million but real estimates are over 2.7 million.

You know, I’ve been to hundreds of heavy metal and hard rock concerts (including Pantera) and only once have I seen a guitarist intentionally break a guitar. It was Aerosmith’s Joe Perry - he jammed a cheap guitar into the blades of a big portable fan, breaking part of the neck
