I think this is further illustrated by his blood artwork he keeps in his work area and his blood slide trophies, but at the same time he has a visible negative reaction to the "blood room" in the hotel. It makes him sick and nearly pass out. Of course, this was because of his childhood trauma and is why Brian set it up, but still. @Ryan_Rants3 күн бұрын
If they don't bring back Matthews, this series failed in my opinion. I was curious to see that relationship with Harry. They were close enough to where Harry asked Matthews to keep an eye on his kids on his deathbed. I think it is pretty clear after the LaGuerta investigation, Matthews knows Dexter is the BHB. The whole scene on the boat, "I mean...what are the odds?" If you take it at face value, you could say Matthews truly believed the boat and evidence Dexter planted to further implicate Doakes. I see it differently. I think Matthews was protecting Dexter, that is why he demanded to interview Dexter telling LaGuerta she would only "f it up." In reality, the whole boat scene, I think Matthews was tipping Dexter off, laying out all the evidence LaGuerta had, and giving Dexter a chance to clean it up, which he did and Matthews was quick to accept it. The whole restaurant scene was just to gain Maria's trust. He also used the situation as leverage to be reinstated and get his 40 year pension, but I think he was also protecting Dexter. He may not have known he was the BHB before this, but I have a theory he knew something of Dexter's "hobbies". His relationship with Harry, whether just suspicion or Harry confided in him. Clearly the two were very close, and Matthews obviously isn't above playing dirty. Sure, this is just a theory, but one Original Sin can confirm or deny. At the very least I would like to see more of Harry and Matthews relationship.

@MarcusRippedEmOff the focus in "Dexter" was on the nurse overdosing her patients on "too much" pain meds and "something else" (as Harry put it). Harry was the one who told Dexter about it and Harry told him to do it. In Original Sin, the focus is on poisoning, and it's Dexter who figures it out. He conducts a whole investigation, and then he's the one who tells Harry what was happening. He's much more proactive and manipulative in Original Sin. It changes the dynamic significantly.

@@deathkity I'm okay with it. I saw an interview with one of the producers, and he explained that what we heard and saw in flashbacks during "Dexter" were Dexter's unreliable narration of what happened. He tells the viewers what he wants them to believe (like that killing the nurse was Harry's idea, not Dexter's.). It's like Dexter is putting it more on Harry than himself. On the other hand, the flashbacks in "Original Sin" are Dexter's real memories, so we see that the killing of Nurse Mary was really Dexter's idea all along. He may not have wanted to admit that to himself when he was thinking about it in *Dexter", but now we know what really happened I see what they were going for, and it's an interesting way to see his early years from a different perspective.

Every time they try to leave, they just end up circling right back around into the town. At night, they have to stay inside, lock their doors, and place mysterious talismans by the doors in order to keep human-looking monsters from entering and viciously killing them. Many characters strive to uncover the mystery of the town. Chief among them being the sheriff of the town, Boyd Stevens. But as Boyd and the others get closer to discovering the town's secrets, the town starts to retaliate in more terrifying ways. The third season just ended, and it's already been confirmed that there will be a fourth season. It really seems like a show that would be right up your alley.

Dexter refers to a dark passenger before the Ghost Harry stuff was introduced. He even has conversations with Ghost Harry about the dark passenger in season seven. They are different things. It actually makes sense, and I hope you're right about this-that the writers will take this direction. In the original series, when we see Dexter "interacting" with Harry, Dexter perceives Harry as someone who was somewhat supportive of his actions. Of course, not entirely supportive, but you get the idea. The flashbacks further solidify Harry as a figure who, in a casual way, chose to channel his son's urges through the Code. However, this version of Harry is likely an idealized version that Dexter created, or perhaps one he presented to us. In season 2, we learn that Harry was horrified by what Dexter did, to the point of taking his own life. Later seasons also offer more clues about Dexter being an unreliable narrator, especially when Harry appears in Dr. Vogel's tapes as someone disturbed, conflicted, and guilty over his actions. This contradicts the image Dexter presented to us-and to some extent, the one Dexter presented to himself. It's actually quite common for individuals on the dark triad spectrum to engage in confabulation (look it up, it's more common in NPD patients than it is in sociopaths, however, Dexter displays traits that are commonly associated with narcissism, such as need for approval and grandiosity), so it wouldn't be necessarily surprising.

My theory after episode 1 was actually that Dexter is misremembering because he’s on his deathbed. With some the info he remembers being key to resurrection. @ true, which is why I don’t think it’s true. But I guess it depends on how they view the original show. Essentially is OG Dexter the unreliable narrator or is the current one the unreliable one? If the current one is meant to be a more accurate telling, then they could make the plot work, but it would still be a retcon, that fans probably wouldn’t enjoy. I just find Christian slater an interesting. He’s playing a character who didn’t physically exist in the original show. Harry was always a character that bothered me in the original series. The first season and a half, you get the idea that he was just a really bad father that taught his son how to kill but in season two, it's revealed that he offed himself after walking in on Dexter showing that he obviously either 1) wasn't as secure in his belief that killing was the right move, or 2) just simply didn't realize as gross as it is. Then in season eight you find out the code wasn't his idea, it was actually Vogel's who is a much more despicable figure that deeply misunderstood Dexter's psychological state. I REALLY like the choice to make Dexter the one pursuing killing and Harry only drugged-up, absent-mindedly and vaguely telling him to "stop her". I think the direction the show is going is to significantly humanize Harry and make him more of a product of a murderous son and manipulative therapist makes the suicide feel more like a natural end to Harry's mental state slipping rather than just the shocking twist they probably thought it was in season two. I'm really interested to see what they do with Harry and Christian Slater is an amazing actor. Also the reveal that he had a previous son who died because Harry wasn't watching him will hopefully relate to a flashback of Harry finding Dexter and Brian in the shipping container. He sees his son in baby Dexter but he sees a broken, angry kid in Brian. It's probably just wishful thinking but I would love to see a younger Brian track down Harry, desperate to see his brother and have a father figure but Harry sees too much of what he already sees in Dexter and pushes him away. That could also sort of work for why Brian hates Dexter's foster family so much.

My issue with this is that it is an after the fact retcon. If you're going to do an unreliable narrator story, it has to be done with the idea of the narrator being unreliable going in. The fact of the matter is that this story was told years ago and that they are now going in and changing it. I understand that many people might not have a problem with this practice, but I, however, do. Not only do I feel like a prequel to Dexter is wholly unnecessary, but now it's actively tempering with aspects that I loved from the first season. This might just come from me being soured over my disappointment of Dexter New Blood, but I am not at all on board with them continuing the story in both the prequel series as well as the upcoming Dexter Resurrection series. It wasn't a great season, but as far as I'm concerned, the series ended with season 5.

This is crap, the human psychosis is an interesting thing. This very easily could have been the true version of events with the nurse in the original series and Dexter's memory of it in Original Sin, or the other way around. Human memory is extremely unreliable. Plus you can consistently tell yourself a lie so often that you believe it to be truth.

Original sin is cringe. Weird how i liked deb at least she was a little attractive but in the og i couldn't stand her. The og younger dexter actors did way better than this and new mazuka is so terrible

I learned the host of this show is Jewish based on how he pronounced “Harrison” 😂

Videos like these acts as a virus and it infects every thing. Why can't people just enjoy the show and stop dragging the show to sht.

If you didn’t like Dexter original sin then you’re just a hater or have awful taste.

This is such a lazy excuse lol. People are allowed to have differing opinions and just because they do that dosnt mean that those people have bad taste and are haters.
