Welcome Back to World of warships legends, today we are looking at and explaining the aiming bug currently plaguing the Smaland, and potentially some other ships too

This is a bug that's present for every ship in the game. It's literally gameplay breaking. It's so obvious yet they've been ignoring it for years. Thanks for pointing it out.

The problem is tht it doesn't always happen with all of the ships in the game. But the småland is different, as it happens every 1/2 shots and it is really frustrating, especially with a radar build (from my experience)

A few years ago there was a bug like this that disallowed you targeting a ship altogether. The reticle would move hard to the right and you could not drag it onto target. Lasted a couple of months and seemed to be periodic. May have been ship dependent but I never did discover if that was the case, or not. It was painful.

I have had this with Napoli at close range with a DD rush - not fun when you have a long reload - Smaland quick reload makes it more obvious. I think it is also a thing with auto-aim - On most ships, if you keep resetting the Auto aim the third adjustment will swing it miles out then the 4th brings it back. This is noticeable if you are trying to aim at someone who is accelerating and decelerating to try and throw you off - I wonder if this part of auto-aim is to reward players who actively try and dodge shots.

Auto aim has always had bugs. Quite often when there is land between you and a target the auto lock will go above and below the line of the target. The only way I've found to stop it happening is to pock onto another shipment back to the one i want to target, usually fixes it but incredibly annoying. Been happening since the games release.

So basically the smallands target lock isn't actually giving dispersion bonus from target lock. Kinda like the target on smalland is like not having target lock

What is the normal amount of time we have to wait until it's fixed? Is it a next update thing or anytime?

honestly it depends normally its pretty quick within a week or two, just depends on how long it takes them to figure it out

I can tell that there is a major bug with Smaland with the evidence that you have shown, but a lot of ships have a bug simular to this, if you're quickly switching between targets. It makes quick knife fighting really difficult.

I was playing the Z462 days ago tried to kill ashima and had aim above the ship at the horizon for my shells to hit the shima I wasn't even marked on the ship that's how bad that it was falling short there is an aiming bug most of the time the shells fall short I watched shells go right through a battleship while playing a destroyer and the shells went right through the bridge and caused new damage whatsoever

ok seeing it against AI where you have the time to really look at it an no wonder shits going awry. doing this at long range would be brutal as you would barely notice the small change in lead distance amongst the fray

I don't think the news that auto-aim is quirky should be a surprise. It's a tool and a not terribly reliable one. However, dropping aim, re-aiming, or switching aim to other ships will usually settle it down. You shouldn't be relying on it exclusively and it's just a rough estimate of where impact will be. You should be manually refining your aiming point based on the reticle and experience.

I agree only difference is from the general terms of auto aim is with the smaland which this vid covers its actually throws your aim way off making gun fights incredibly difficult

@@TheHiveHound Oh, I've seen the "recommended" aiming point jump a considerable distance--enough you have to aim at another target because the predicted aiming point is nowhere near the initial target. I suspect this might be a latency issue, but that's just a guess.

@Dave Finfrock there Definitely an issue if your close to an island, I have experienced that one a few times, and the current smaland bug massively over leads the target, maybe its a similar issues you have seen, I quickly zoom in out in out in and adjust as for some reason the 3rd in seams to line up perfectly with the waterline I adjust for speed and direction from that point. maybe how I operate I could well miss so issues.

I think there is a torp bug too. The spread is uneven at times. And they can drift away from where you aimed them. And the speed is random too.

Several months back I was on my Skane attempting to dodge torps and every turn I made the entire grid would turn with me. I was going to die and there was nothing I could do about it.

Every ship has this bug doesnt happen all the time it is ethier the shells land behind the ship or to far infront of the targeted ship

I play Napoli like an oversized DD. So a lot of up close and personal. The auto aim does the exact same thing you are showing in this video. Has caused me to miss out on a few kills.

Aiming bug affects all ships and is in the game since the alpha, in fact since the game is a copy code wise from PC all PC bugs are also in legends, plane spotting with no visuals, overpen galore, aim bug, citadel bugs aka ihn funnels just to name a few there is also no point in pointing that out since WG knows about all these bugs but reality is fixing it doesn't make money

@@TheHiveHound dude no it's a modified engine that's it the base code is still the same as from the oc version thats a fact and it shows bc all the bugs from PC are also in legends also WG themselves have also confirmed the engine thing

Legends dev don't program new ships or maps they just copy the code from the PC team and implement it into legends

firstly the video clearly shows the Sumner is not effected by the aiming bug the smaland has, if I hear another shells fall short is a bug, when vertical dispersion is a thing, and no its not the bug on pc where flamu aims above ships to hit them (which was fixed fyi) I Have an older video called "how to aim" if you want to know more about that. they patched the planes spotting through islands like a year ago. over pens are not a bug, it's a mechanic based off real naval warfare. feel free to link me clips but after 15k battle you'd think I would have already seen it all

Im sorry to say that but if you think that shells falling short is not a bug, and all the other things then you are either defending this company or simply have no clue Every ship has the aiming bug every single one bc the aiming mechanic itself is broken Don't come with flamu, it has been proven for years and years that it exists, every single player has experienced these bugs Yes overpen is a mechanic but that still doesn't change the fact that the mechanic is bugged that's the reason why WG on PC did multiple patches to combat that bug, the plane bug was just to point out the fact that we have/had the exact same bugs as PC, the same goes for the citadel bugs for like in ships with the funnel

This bug has been a problem for about 3 years or so, after they patched the game one month. That's why I don't buy into Wargaming games, because they don't fix bugs they hide them behind patch notes claiming they fixed them.. With every Patch they released the game becomes more and more broken. I quit believing the update notes years ago I've been playing over 2 years and tested the game after first year of beta testing. I'll play the game here and there but don't take the game seriously anymore, or pay Wargaming a dime, they nurfed more ships then it was worth to count.

It’s not an aiming bug it’s in there so the potatoes can return a salvo to double citadel you same as in world of tanks all random you have good stats you shafted I’ve notice for a while now shells ditching in the water while I aimed water line happens a lot wargaming don’t care but this game is becoming very boring we should have historic battles with ai bots

I agree with the historical battle that would be ace, but she'll dropping below where you shoot? no so much, there is both horizontal and vertical dispersion of shells, although I agree rng can be annoying I haven't seen any evidence of it being a bug, the highest vertical dispersion of a ship is 700m

@@TheHiveHound Autoaim has been buggy and has had myriad issues on the PC side since Beta. Initially, it was thought that WG didn't have the desire to fix the issue, now it's just accepted that they lack the ability to fix the issue. Further, it is far easier to fix an issue on the PC side with this particular game, than on the console side. Keeping it 100: The game itself was developed with a deeply flawed aiming system and it requires a complete rewrite. WG tries to patch things that come up, but because the product is shit, the patches only fix what was reported (and not always, at that) and almost always introduce a new bug because, again, the product is shit.

@Lucas Hile that depends on your expectations and understanding on how it works alot of people simply don't understand how to use it and expect it to aim perfectly, this is not the case. I have a live stream posted called contemplations that covers aiming dispersion and how it all works, it covers the while shells falling short "issues" the games not perfect but 80% of the issues are due to peoples expectations and lack of understanding about the mechanics of the game.

the game automatically target locks ships, unless you intentionally cancel it repeatedly you use target lock
