I was really excited when WPDS first launched. It was my favorite channel for a long time. They played a lot of good old shows.

The gentleman on the left at 13:20 is Ken Owen, who later worked at Channel 6 and Channel 8 in Indianapolis as well.

Charles Swearingen who was the Engineer was my neighbor who lived down the street from me growing up which was the nicest guys you could ever meet which he had a collection of nice old cars sadly he passed away last year. R.I.P.

I remember one particular episode of He-Man that had the "What you are about to see is by any definition, self indulgence..." over the opening music every time it aired, possibly even into the WXIN era. I don't remember which one it was, but I definitely could have told you then.

The music cue for WPDS (now WXIN) inaugural sign-on happens to be the music cue for the LIVE drawing of the Pennsylvania Lottery Pennsylvania Lotto from the mid 1980s.

Was USA Communications, Inc. owned USA Network? Currently, WXIN (formerly WPDS) is the sister station to WTTV/WTTK owned by Nexstar Media Group.

Interesting that you say the original recording - that I made myself in the early 80s - has disappeared. If you search for it, it comes up BEFORE yours. I posted this 8 years ago and it's been available ever since. I'm happy to see the recording shared, but at least be honest about where you got it.
