WPHL - 2001 - "Philadelphia's WB17 News"

The WPHL 10pm news from 2001, when they were still producing the newscast themselves (nowadays it's outsourced to WCAU). This was from the period where they were doing an hour at 10 - this was a disaster and they were back to just 30 minutes after a year or two. The promo at the beginning - which aired before the credits, I didn't edit anything - reflects this.
This particular open and graphics were adopted in 2000. It's all aerial shots, remniscent of WPIX's then-current look (I think there might be a shot in this open that is lifted from that one), tied together with a unique purple scheme.
And yes, they were actually calling the newscasts "Philadelphia's WB17 News" at this point.

WPHL’s initial news department shut down in late 2005, with WCAU taking over production of newscasts for a few years before WPVI took over in the early 2010s. While a news department was reestablished in 2015, it only produces a morning show at this time. It would make financial sense for Mission to acquire WFMZ so that WPHL could have more resources to restart production of its 10 pm newscast in house.

The WPHL WB17 NEWS AT TEN coming up next promo was there during SMALLVILLE end credits on The WB's New Tuesday and after SMALLVILLE'S production cards and Philadelphia's WB17 NEWS AT TEN promo from October 2001.
