WPIX INN close from 1985, plus next bumper for 8 O'Clock Movie

We dug up this retro clip that shows you what TV news at WPIX was like in 1985.
You'll see some familiar PIX11 faces here, including Ed Miller, Jerry Girard, Bob Harris and Donna Hanover.
You'll hear announcer Bill Biery alerting us to the station's New Jersey news bureau over a slide, and fellow announcer Ralph Lowenstein voicing the animated "next" bumper for the 8 O'Clock Movie, featuring the Twin Towers, which inspired Channel 11's "Circle 11" logo. Enjoy!

This is iconic. However, nowadays they wouldn't be allowed to "waste" that much time on a sign off; when instead the time could be used to jam in every last commercial possible. I remember that at the endings of movies shown on network TV, they would actually show the end credits with the main soundtrack song from the movie. Boy those days are long gone.

Thanks for this retro clip. I tried unsuccessfully for years to get this closing theme (with any clarity). I reside in Southern New Jersey and I watched WPIX through the 80's before they became a WB affiliate. I submitted an inquiry on the WPIX website with no luck. I then tried contacting Tribune Broadcasting in Chicago again with no success. As a musician, I always loved this theme (INN) as I felt it was gritty with bite, not just funk but also with the power of the brass. I've recently found a lead on the composer of this theme. Rob Klein of Klein& out in California. If you have anymore 1984-1987 WPIX INN intros, commercial bumpers, between break fillers or extended closing, please post as well as any composer information if different from mine. Thank you again.

Two thoughts: first former WKYC anchor and reporter Ed Miller was alongside Donna Hanover...and I wonder if either a taped segment expected for the show didn't make its time slot and/or the show producer got called to the carpet after the show for leaving so much time at the end...
