I swapped out only the motor to a 370 and the modulation is completely different. It now crawls with plenty of torque.

For sure, it works. The stock esc will handle a brushed 370, just don't treat it like a trail rig, and it'll be fine. Otherwise you'll burn up that esc. Great option though, as many of us have stock scx24 esc sitting on the shelf now. Thank you, always great content!

I run the ax4 with an external esc on ch2. On aux I have a servo winch. The esc runs on 3s with the 370 reduction out of the c34. Great trucks! Cant wait for the shock video!

I did the wpl rev.3 with sound card and the 370 motor up grade . Amazing slow crawl . Plus I have a winch now . Also the ability to to had brake lights and turn signals. Best part it fits in the stock spot with no mods . Do like the info on tires . Thanks for the videos

Good info as always, Matt !! I always laugh at " another quick video ", them I check the video time. Who cares, you give good info, and this is good to know. Furitek is not available in Canada right now, without crazy import cost, as far as I know. As soon as they come available here, my rigs will be on them !! That said, I have one rig running an Axiel ESC and Flysky RX setup, and two running a stock. I tried a system from Orlandoo, but meant for 1/35th, and not great speed control with stock motors ( meant for geared motors ). I never " throw away " a working system, who knows what's coming? Keep up the great videos !!

Yeah I was surprised myself! I was totally putting a Furitek in it until I tried the scx24 stuff. Since I have a couple of them sitting that’s what it got! It’s all installed and ready to roll now. Really excited about this little truck now!

Cool video, but when you're ballin on a budget a new Xmitter isn't always in the cards...Definitely an upgrade for the future possibly. For me and my house everything has to be purchased in 3's which is the reason I went with this truck and not the SCX24.

the RTR have crap electronics and tires, the kit ones are decent. A $3 30A esc, the wpl 2 speed gearbox and a dumborc x6f works as good as you described here for way less money.

Well I got the upgraded reduction box with the 370 motor, but I also fitted an 80a surpass Esc I had left over from a tamiya, and that thing has 2 speeds, slow and continental drift slow 😁

You can swap for a higher rpm 370 motor, you probably have a 6000 or maybe 10000 rpm motor lol

I did the same thing with my atlas 6x6. I just need to put receiver plugs on the lights and I will be good to go. No more esc howl

Yeah I put one in it also lol. It didn’t seem to help the slow crawl as much but it definitely got rid of the fax machine attached!

Hey man! I've been watching a lot of your videos recently. I was wondering what body you run on your scx24? The white buggy looking one. Keep up the great work!

That is actually a body from a little toy that I picked up at a loves gas station. It had metal panels so I cut some out of lexan and made it work. Definitely one of my favorites. They had one similar to it at wal mart for a long time. I think our wal mart still has a couple. May be worth checking. It’s slightly different as it has a tire rack in the back but you can cut that off and it’s very similar.

Hey Matt quick question? I bought some of these tires. The exact same model as the ones in your link for my c24-1. They fit on the stock rim s but bead slides off lip of stock rim. Did you need to use tire glue or no or any other recommendations for fit.

Yes on the stock wheel you’ll have to use glue because it’s not a beadlock wheel.

I just bought two of these The white one the same one and then the blue one with the white camper........ Do you think a lizard pro would run one of these trucks or no....also with that scx v1 if you switch it to low it would be smoother probably....but not for crawling

Did you get a Furitek esc or bec? The bec is just to keep good voltage to your servos etc. Are you running a Furitek esc?

Hi, I have the WPL C24 and about to install the Furitek lizard with a new receiver/transmitter, so Im totally doing away with the stock circuit board cos Im going to use 2S lipo battery, which will fry it. The problem is..... how do I set up the stock switch? Else, the truck will be powered once I connect the battery.

Does your lizard esc have a button on it for the power? My test unit didn’t but a few people have said theirs did. If not then you’d probably just have to unplug the battery each time. Or wire a switch in somehow. I always disconnect my battery when I turn the truck off anyway so I never worry about a switch honestly. They usually just go bad anyway lol

@@2fmrc yeah theres a button there. But once u lock in the body shell, you wont have access to that. Yeah I dont have the habit of taking the battery off. I think I will have to add the switch in series to the battery cable that comes from the ESC. Will have to make a nice adapter so that the original battery cable is unmodded.

Have you tried the furitek plugged into the WPL board? That would save a receiver/transmitter.

The stock wpl board don’t have a channel 2 port to plug directly into like the scx24 does. I was glad to get rid of that little controller it comes with anyway 😆

They are harder than my dogs chew toy. Put some softer tires on it and see how it performs. Cutting stocks are better but nowhere near what a good soft tire will do for it.

I'm interested on the tires more than the electronics upgrade haha. So any 1.2 RC4WD tire fits on the stock WPL wheels? I guess you have to glue them. I have the WPL soft tires and they worked ok but started to pop out after I added weight to the wheels. Didnt glue them because I was waiting to find good replacrments.

Yeah I would assume any would fit. They only have 2 different sets on their site. They’ll have to be glued but I also found some wheels that may work as well so I’m going to order those I think.

Do you think the NB4 is worth getting or just the gt5? Mainly using it for my scx24 and my rustler. Not sure if I need that much technology lol

You’d probably be fine with the Gt5. Especially at the price. I love my nb4 but I use the channel mixing for dual motor/esc setup on my bully and a few other functions on some other rigs. It’s awesome radio but for basic use the Gt5 is great for the price.

Honestly I ran mine a decent bit on 3s when they were testing the firmware update and it ran well. Haven’t ran it on 3s since lol. I don’t run 3s much in them anymore. Hate that it’s not working for ya. Did you recalibrate and all that stuff? I’m sure you did but may be worth a shot to try it a few times to see if it’ll help.

Cannot understand why you always try to promote the expensive Furitek for brushed motors? I admire your Furitek brushless videos, but for brushed there are way better (and cheaper) options. For best crawl in WPL I take a Hobbywing 1080 or a "fake 1080" or a 12/15. For best brushed in micros I take the Modellbau-Regler 12/6 or 12/15. All of those are WAY better in brushed slow crawl than the expensive Furitek. Stop telling Furitek is best in brushed, that's nonsense. Brushless- awesome, but brushed there are many better and cheaper options.

I like the fact that the Furitek can do both. They are plug and play and most people want that. I’m not pushing anything. Buy what you want. I could care less what you do honestly. An opinion is an opinion. I say Furitek is the best you say it isn’t. What makes you any more correct than I am? If I told someone to buy the Modellbau all I would hear is “how do I plug in my battery and motor? There’s no plug on it” 😂 I get enough questions on a simple 2 plug system that is literally plug here, plug there and run! To me the ease and ability of it is untouched. Is there better? Probably. I’ll admit I don’t know everything but for the average person who wants to plug something in and go, you won’t change my mind at this point. Always better things coming though and that’s the beauty of it!

@@2fmrc I buy an ESC for a brushed or a brushless motor. Why for both? For brushless Furitek is absolutely awesome. But for brushed? Hobbywing 1080 is for sure way better for a WPL brushed than the Furitek. It is larger, I know... Cannot get the point why someone should use the expensive Furitek for a brushed (!) setup

@@donaldsneffe guess I mostly have the scx24 in mind. I’m not putting a 1080 in my scx24s. I do like the 1080 but I still prefer the tuning through an app myself. The ability to change throttle curve and all of those settings through an app on my phone on the fly is much nicer than a program box. The price of the 1080 is its best feature to me. It’s a good esc at an awesome price

@@donaldsneffe why not have an esc that can do both? You’re talking about saving money?! That’s the easiest way possible to save some cash. I ran my micro sidewinder with my barrage when I got it because I didn’t want brushless at the time. When I did want brushless all I had to do was connect it to the pc and swap the settings. Even easier to swap the settings on the Furitek!
