Interesting facts, many of which I had no idea. Very well explained.

There is a full development history of the GT-SM (GAZ-71) in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqCpZKt4a7xpfbs It is interesting that the derivatives of this vehicle are still in production.

Thank you, as always, for watching and commenting. Sorry I have been a bit quiet recently but one of the new RC cars I ordered got badly delayed. I ordered it in December and was supposed to receive it in January but it isn't even in stock yet.

Thanks for watching and leaving your comment. It is a fun vehicle to drive, I just wish the suspension was a little softer.

Nice test. Enjoyed seeing it go through the water, as the real thing was designed to do. Do the modifications to make it water proof. Use some silicone...

I will waterproof the circuit board as best I can but it will be more difficult to seal the hull due to the design. If it was just surfaces clamping together, there would be a chance but there are some cutouts and overlaps that are not easy to seal up. I suppose if the circuit board is protected, it won't matter too much if water goes inside as long as the hull doesn't flood completely and sink the vehicle.

@@BlackSeaRC Not a well thought out design on WPL's part. If you make a replica of a vehicle that goes in water the users will likely want to do the same....

@@markieh04 The best bit is the warning from WPL not to use the vehicle on a muddy or sandy surface!

It is interesting how low in the water these vehicles are when swimming. It looks as if any slight wave and the cab would flood.

There are limitations when entering or exiting the water with the real GT-SM/GAZ-71 because if the angle is too steep, the cab or cargo area can be swamped with water. Also, it cannot be used on fast flowing rivers. Most of the water crossing is inland water such as lakes, small rivers or swamp land.

The same thing happened to one of my stunt amphibious rc vehicles, need to change one of those motors, I'll see if I can find some replacements parts. This is a great RC vehicle! Would love to see a more indepth review!

I'm not really sure if it was the motors, the gearbox, the wiring or the circuit board that was causing the issues. Both motors were functioning after I dried it out but it had started pulling to one side (indicating that one motor was weaker). The trouble with these types of vehicles is that you always want to push them to the limit! To see my fully detailed review, please check here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqCpZKt4a7xpfbs To see the E-1 running on ice and snow, see here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o33Sl2h7n9RqsM0

Do you think it would still float with the upgraded metal tracks?
@BlackSeaRC
@BlackSeaRC 9 ай бұрын
The metal tracks weigh quite a bit more than the plastic tracks so I suspect the E-1 would sit even lower in the water. Whether this would be enough to sink it, I am not sure.

It is a nice vehicle but if you want to play in water you will need to do some mods and keep the plastic tracks 🔵🔵🔵🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍🔵🔵🔵

Agreed, it needs some attention in order to use it continuously in these types of conditions. I was keen to fit metal tracks for other performance reasons but in this situation, it could be detrimental to the performance in deep water.

You should have went in there and waterproof the electronics.

The motors are low in the hull but then a brushed motor should be okay to run in water, right? As for the control board (receiver/ESC), it is at least positioned up high and shouldn't be submerged as long as the E-1 stays afloat. Not sure how best to protect the actual plug-in connections on the circuit board? I don't particularly want to swap out the circuit board as it is set up to control the dual motors (and has the receiver built in). Maybe to put it in one of those old style Tamiya balloons?

@@bradkalman2353 It is a pity that there is not a similar product available with hobby grade parts. I suppose the only real choice for tracked vehicles is the Kyosho Trail King or Blizzard (I don't particularly want a tank).
