Wr250r Review || Freeway and Trails || How Capable is it?

Me: experienced dirt and street rider. BUT - have not swung a leg over a bike in 27 years! My riding now will be - in town on 35mph roads, plus country backroads, dirt roads, and some easy offroad trails. My last dual sport bike was a 1982 Honda XL500. Loved the bike, BUT a big negative was its weight. Quite heavy. This WR is right around 300 wet, which for me is light as bikes go and not bad for an offroad machine. For a short time recently I considered the XR650L, but it's about 50 lbs heavier than this one and at my age, I don't want to deal with that weight offroad. So the good news - today, I just completed the paperwork for a new 2020 WR250R!!! One of the last ones available in my area. I'll get the bike in a week or so and can't wait. Great video! Also, good tips on how to shorten the seat height. I'm 5'9" and can get my tip toes down, but it would be nice if it were an inch or two shorter. Helps in offroad situations where the terrain might be other than flat..

Great content! In my area (Ontario, Canada) 2009 wr250x’s are still going for almost $5000. I’m thinking it might be better to purchase a new wr250r.

WR450F is relatively easy to convert to street legal and is actually about 40 lbs lighter than the 250R. In a lot of countries it comes factory street legal. I am still on the fence which route to go for my needs honestly though.

John Leslie I knew you could do that but I actually hadn't really though about it. Thanks for pointing that out, you're totally right. That's such a good idea I might even try it, a 450 is kind of out of my skill level and not needed for what I do though tbh 😂

The WR250R is hands down the best 250 dual sport.

If you're shorter the XT250 would be great 31.5 inch seat height but you still have 11.2 inches of ground clearance.

With the wr’s you need to change your oil every 6000 not 3000 but either way works

Dare_Devil04 the manual recommends every 3,000 but if you're using it as a real dirt bike I'd recommend a little more often. Still incredible compared to other dirt bikes and dual sports.

I did the same thing, over a week and I kept coming back to it bc its practical, is Wide Range, WR, reliable, easy to maintain and if you have to get rid of it its not hard to find someone. But most importantly it does both dirt and street pretty dog gone well, and better overall than all others.

Dualsport Hooligan definitely, I love mine so much. It's currently being turned into a stunt bike and hopefully I'll be buying a motocross bike to replace it for dirt duty
