Talking About Lore and Reacting to RENNALA, QUEEN OF THE FULL MOON - Elden Ring

I believe Ranni's intervention was an illusion from the spell; in other words, a recording or program. I doubt Ranni realises we have ever even met her mother. BTW the lore here is Rennala went mad after Radagon left her, then the Shattering happened, then her daughter Ranni killed herself to love forever in a doll's body. So, as her Great Rune is the Runes of Birth, she had been doing nothing but birthing ill-formed copies of Ranni ever since. Ranni's spell to defende her mother is to conjure a shadow of her mother' past glory. Although your explanation of self-birth seem really compelling too, though in a more metaphysical or psychological way.

One thing I love about Rennala's lore is that a lot is told through the items you can transpose from her Remembrance. The Carian Regal Staff, and Rennala's Full moon, which have, respectively, an intelligence requirement of 60 and 70, making it the Staff and Sorcery with the highest requirement in the game, which implies Rennala, at the peak of her powers, which we fight due to Ranni conjuring an illusion of her mother's peak, was the greatest sorceress of her age, maybe ever! Ranni's Dark Moon has an intelligence requirement of "only" 68, while Lusat's and Azure's staff have a 52 intelligence requirement, and the three primordial sorceries have requirements of 60 (Comet Azur), 52 (Founding Rain of Stars) and 38 (Stars of Ruin), so Rennala might even today stand as the greatest of them all.

I mean, in lorewise Rennala showed up to the Raya Lucaria, impressed the entire school with her sorceries, school which previously had dedicated itself studying exclusively comets, meteors and asteroids, and inspired creation of an entirely new faculty dedicated in studying the moon. Then she repelled Radagon's armies once and Marika had to try to take with cunning what she couldn't take by force. So yes, Rennala in her prime absolutely has to be the most powerful sorcerer/sorceress we meet, when she can keep Radagon/Marika at bay. Sellen/Azur/Lusat are non-demigod runner-uppers in sorcery. While Gideon might rival Rennala because he has extensive knowledge of incantations and such.

After finishing the game and diving into the lore, it's a trip hearing how accurate she was with all this. Great observations! wow, she's smart. I was just going around bopping things in the head and trying not to get clubbered by books!

This fight is fun but can quickly get overwhelming; and while I do agree with Yahtzee of Zero punctuation that the first phase gets tiring to do repeatedly after unveiling the queens true full power form, I honestly did this so much that it became a fun routine to see how quickly and perfectly I could get to her phase two without taking damage, and also I just LOVE the mood of this fight; ALTHOUGH I will say this fight is kinda badly placed and it makes her fight feel tiring, because to get to her you have to run past like half a dozen sorcerors that you WILL almost every time get hit by; THEN speed run her first phase hunting the “kids” as fast as you can dodging magic books chandeliers fire and other magic JUST to get to her second phase WHICH HAS A SECOND PHASE OF ITS OWN, chasing her and dodging near instakill magic (depending on your level) THEN SHE FUCKING SUMMONS I can see why some people see this fight as tiring

I really like the psychological horror of the fact that all the students of the school are held together by magic as Renata remakes them every time they start to fall apart. An act that is proven over time to slowly destroy who you are and remove your memories.

Ranni used big dick magic to make you fight a prime state illusion of her mom, referencing the actual bit of the fight you had with her as "disturbing her slumber". Momma is not who she used to be before Radagon left her.

Okay, basically just started this video, not sure if she figures this out, but for anyone having problems with Renalla, look for the pleb of Renalla's that's glowing, it's the only one that throws books and it's the only one you gotta hit once to crack Renalla's shield. Crack it three times and she tumbles to where you can hit her. Rinse, repeat, then just do what you can do for phase two, nothing really special about phase 2.

Oh, there is something special for phase 2, especially for casters. She's nearly immune to magic damage... but then Rock Sling isn't magic damage but physical damage. People keep saying she's a pain for casters but if you use the right spell it's a cake walk. She took 4 of them to the face and that was that in the first run through with enough INT and the Comet Staff which vastly enhances the Rock Sling spell. Kind of great that both the staff and the spell can be gotten within 10-15 minutes of starting the game, in the same area. :)

Well, Rennala is a mother, so I guess it's fine to call her 'mommy', right? 😍 And, yeah, learned very early that she is highly resistant to magic, but bleeds like most, so went in duel wielding uchigatanas my first time. Still got deleted by her second phase a few times though.

I don't see that Rom reference there at all !!! If there is any Bosses that have influenced this Rennala Boss Fight have to be Aldrich Devourer of God in Dark Souls 3 and Fool's Idol from Demon's Souls !!! Only thing Rom inside Rennala Boss Fight is the 2nd phase area but it's all
