Been wearing Wranglers and Levi’s brands for more than 50 years. Really glad to see younger folks still wearing the styles I grew up with and continue to wear. Really enjoying your channel. My experience is that western-style pants/jeans/shirts (Wrangler brand) will fit tighter (in general) than work-style or heritage-style, which might explain why you went up a couple waist sizes from your usual. If you try on a pair of Carhartt or Duluth jeans/pants, you’ll see just how generous in size work-inspired pants can be. I’m 5’6” 138 lbs, and can’t wear these brands, as they just don’t make my size. And I’m really not willing to shell out $200 and up for selvedge - so I stick with Levi’s mostly.

Out of all my pants, these Wranchers may be my favorite. Plenty of available colors, a durable fabric, they always look fresh, cut works great with sneakers/sandals/Bean Boots/cowboy boots, etc. They go well with a t-shirt or sport coat & dress shirt. Perfect for working at home without dressing like Jeff Lewbowski. Only drawbacks: don’t sit too close to a fire; the Wrangler tag on the back (any tailor can remove it). It’s best to go 1-2” up in size; they have a relatively narrow hip area.
@chris587124 Жыл бұрын
The thigh area sucks tho I have to size up 3 or 4 and return mine now

At this point I feel like people just choose a professor to dress like. Workwear for construction etc. I guess “west wear” for cowpokes and ranchers, exception is street wear because that’s always overlapped with skater culture and hip hop. That’s my opinion

It's interesting that you can get a pair of quality pants under $30 with workwear brands like dickies, Carhartt and wrangler, but you have to pay extra to get the "original quality" from the more fashion-focused brands like Levi's (i.e., Levi's vintage, Levi's premium). For those brands, you have to pay twice the price just to get the "OG quality" since they lowered their quality standard and made their OG quality the premium sub-brand. I think this is one of the big reasons why more and more people are buying into workwear and second-hand clothing nowadays.
@CasaiTX3 жыл бұрын
I mean carhartt does the same thing with WIP, although the WIP clothes aren’t made for workwear necessarily
@DrewJoiner3 жыл бұрын
Great point Joni, the value you get with workwear especially with pants and often times jackets is the best value other than buying vintage. The only thing like I said is that I wish the items were more sustainable
@jayciii293 жыл бұрын
@@CasaiTX Bro, I forgot about the Carhartt WIP situation. I don't even consider Carhartt WIP is Carhartt because CWIP is basically a separate European apparel brand, but they got the Carhartt brand license, so they're selling their own things but with the "Carhartt aesthetic." And CWIP's quality cannot be compared with the mainline Carhartt. It is not bad quality per se, but most of the stuff from CWIP is made of lighter materials and less reinforcement (no Carhartt's iconic triple stitching) for lifestyle use. I can attest to that because I have both the Detroit chore coats and Detroit duck canvas jackets from WIP and the mainline. The WIP variants feel like some Levi's jackets you can find at the mall at best, AND they're almost twice the price. So don't even buy CWIP unless you can get them cheaper than the normal Carhartt. Just buy the mainline Carhartt, but size down if you want that WIP less baggy fit.
