Let's think about Thor throwing stormbreaker at the head. Thor threw it at the largest area of Thanos ( his body) because Thor is at 150 feet in the air, weilding the axe against the most powerful beams in existence. 1. If Thor aimed for the head, Thanos would of ducked. 2. Who's to say the ax would stick edgeside down into Thanos' temple when it hit?? Thanos made a suggestion to the head that may not of ended with an ax in him because he wanted Thor to feel the pain of his defeat. Thanos used his last moments of strength to end half the universe before Thor pulled stormbreaker and chopped his off. Thanos is so dangerous. His ability to out think his opponent is what gives him the advantage in every confrontation. Other then batman, I havent seen that kind of strategic thinking.

He saves his friends, destroys thousands of aliens, uses his peak power with stormbreaker, slices through the powers of the infinity gaunlet, and sticks an axe in Thanos' chest. This mofo wasnt playing around anymore.... All that just to have T-bag snap his fingers and destroy half the universe. Yeah, Id be depressed too knowing I failed after showing the galaxy I stepped up to Thanos and still lost half the universe. 😢 I understand Thor's hatred for chopping off his head in end game. He should be. Actually he is way above Cap Marvel in comics but still in the Mcu i personally would scale him above. Wanda and Dr Strange as well. Cap Marvel is like 4th most powerful hero in the Mcu. In the comics the Hulk is far above her and in some cases above everybody else. But its all fiction and stories so i dont mind that powerscaling changes in the Mcu. You can say that Mcu is an alternate Universe where heroes and villains are slightly different. Marvel and Dc already displayed this occasionally where characters are stronger and weaker in stories all related to each Universe. And ofcourse plot armor and popularity place a part as well
