WRC 2005 season review (part one)

This season was the transition from WRC's second Golden age with the early World Rally Car era into a malaise era that really started in 06. Still so hard to comprehend how WRC could experience such a downfall from a 7 drivers shootout for the title in 2003 with 6 manufacturers to just 2.5 manufacturers in 2006, with Mäkinen, Sainz, McRae, Märtin, Burns and Auriol all retired or forced into retirement by then and Solberg never to win a rally again. Sadly eletronics killed the sport with costs spiraling out of control and the promoter getting too greedy with 16 rallyes per season. WRC in my view has never recovered from the malaise that followed the 2005 season.

Recently just now got into Rally motorsport, started with the 90s reviews, sorely ruined my viewing of any other season past this one it seems, though this lineup does seem something special too so I suppose I'll enjoy this one!

Some little critique: Citroen: well managed top team, that deserves all of it. But they needed two drivers, that are consistent. Subaru: not on top of some issues whith relebilety Peugeot: like Citroen, but whith worse car. Ford: top team that also has a car defecit. Mitsubishi: the midfielder that has a good car and only lacks on top drivers. Skoda: slow car, midfield drivers and no good management.

And Loeb vs villagra Duval kresta Wilson rautenback pasonen atkinson Galli.. terrible opponents and so boring wrc in the 00. The 307 wrc ?? The worst wrc car in history.. Subaru no competitive also.. Everyone can win 9 titles this way..

Mitsubishi became a bottom scraper team ever since Makinen left, They made some really strange decisions and the cars after 2001 were all subpar

This was also the year where WRC took a big hit with dying teams. Last win for Subaru. Peugeot retired as a manufacturer. We will have to wait 2017 to see at least 3 teams competing for wins.

I am sorry but Gilles Panizzi is one of the Best drivers on tarmac He is not a bad driver at all

2005 was very good for Mitsubishi. If you compare 2005 to the massacre that was 2002 and then 2004 it was a great year. Harri Rovanpera, Gigi Galli and Gilles Panizzi did a great job and they were on the pace most of the time.

Mediocre drivers and "spaceship Cars" full of elettronic help.. compared to 80's 600 hp group b cars and 90's group A and first wrc cars and drivers like makinen McRae kankkunen sainz rohrl mikkola vatanen auriol biasion toivonen salonen, 2005 for sure is not the golden year of wrc.. if you think 2005 is better maybe you have to change sport.. ✌️☮️

And what are you, 90? 2005 is 2 fucking decades ago. "Spaceships full of electronic help"? These are cars pretty close to production compared to what came before (including your precious Group B, which was fake cars using spaceframes) and after (spaceframes again since 2022).

Loeb is a French man with a French team I say no more It was all fixed I say that because how can someone win 4 rallies in a row I think that the settings on Loabs car were designed to make him win Petter solberg and Subaru were a better team
