The first movie was about accepting your place in life and how important it is no matter how small. The second movie is the complete opposite.

Literally all they had to do was make it so Vanellope was added to Slaughter Race but still went back to Sugar Rush and only came to Slaughter Race once in a while when the arcade was closed and have all the fun in there she wanted. Then they could have had a nice message about how you can shake up stuff in your life to give it excitement while also remaining loyal to your responsibilities. But no, instead we get "if you get bored in life, just bail on everything and everyone who needs you, it's fine".

Also if Tiana is being considered a princess by this movie then Naveen shouldn't be a frog. Cause at the end of the movie they got married making Tiana a princess and their kiss broke the spell that turned them into frogs.

Even better is the fact that the Roster in Sugar Rush uis random every day. So unlike the other games in the arcade, Vanellope can take a few days off every once and a while and nobody would even notice. Like she's in a better position than most game characters to actually have both.
@grantmortensonva

@@tevenpowell8023 yeah they even say "new racers daily" in the first film. And they show that the character rotation is based on a race after closing time. If Vanellope wanted to take a vacation someplace else, she could just, I dunno, not participate in that race so she won't be on the character roster?

Amazing point. It would've especially been a great opportunity to send that message since it definitely wouldn't work as well if a Toy Story movie went for that message. A kid could certainly notice if their toy went missing even if for just one day(Forky is a clear example if you've seen Toy Story 4).

The second movie was not justified at all. The point of the first movie is that even though Ralph plays a bad guy, he can enrich others' lives, and Vanellope is an example of that. He was not "defining himself" by a little girl's appreciation. How do you miss the point that badly?

Also one small detail I find funny in Ralph Breaks the Internet that I'm not sure the people crafting this movie considered that revolves around two Street Fighter characters. So in the movie there are 4 Street Fighter characters represented being Ryu, Zangief, Chun Li and M. Bison. In the Street Fighter lore it's canon that M. Bison killed Chun Li's Father and it was her motivation in Street Fighter 2, 4 and 5 to get revenge for her Father. So obviously, she would hang out in a book club next to him 2:08:02 and talk with him over a drink 2:08:12.

So basically, the only good thing about Wreck-it Ralph 2 was the Ralph Rick-rolling Frozen 2 post-credits? I can't believe they managed to screw over both Ralph and Vanellope's characters from the first film. I remember when a 2nd Wreck-it Ralph film was first being speculated and rumored and then announced, I was genuinely curious to see what they would do with it and how they would expand the world of sentient video game characters. There was potential for a sequel, though I do think the first film was good enough on its own. Why the hell did they think Vanellope going Turbo and abandoning her own game, literally doing exactly what Ralph was chastised for in the previous movie, was a good idea? What are the humans going to think when they see Vanellope in Slaughter Race? Are they going to think the game is bugged and put it out of order? Because that's what happened with Turbo. Maybe they explained something about that, but I don't freaking remember. And why the hell was Ralph so dumb?? He literally stopped a virus from destroying Sugar Rush after he accidently set one free. Why did they have him let loose another one and deliberately?? Did the same writers work on the first movie? If they did, why did they think this script was a good idea? Wreck-it Ralph deserved a good sequel. Otherwise, Wreck-it Ralph should have stayed as a standalone.

What in the hell went through Alan Menken's head while making that musical number? Were the writers just like "Hey Alan! Y'know how you've made so many great musical numbers in the past, especially for us? Yeah, how about you make a "parody" song that spits in the face of all that?"

I’ll never understand this. How can the same directors with the same writer come back to make this sequel, only to make a sequel that does absolutely everything in its power to ruin everything about the first movie? Lessons learned are immediately forgotten and thrown out the window, character personalities are destroyed for the sake of keeping the plot chugging, and overall the entire plot is so ridiculous that even the slightest bit of common sense would derail this entire movie instantly. And yet, somehow, this movie still did (financially) well? I don’t get it.

I find it infuriating that the second movie is basically saying people with abandonment issues are monsters. The message comes across as “Ghosting and abandonment is ok.” I get that people move away at points in their life but just because a person has a problem with being left behind, that doesn’t mean they’re a monster. Nor does it excuse the other just leaving out of the blue

Similarity to Toy story: when the humans are done playing with the arcade machines and leave the characters in those games come to life. In Toy story, after Andy is done playing with his toys for the day or before dinner he may leave, allowing the toys to come to life and socialise with each other. 11:30 Could be due to them going from game to game so often and evolving an average frame rate that suits all the games they enter. It's a good thing the reset didn't delete all the foreign characters from the game, given that they aren't characters in sugar rush.

Your guy’s commentary is absolutely hilarious! I was a massive fan of the first movie when it came out and I am still a fan of the first movie to this day, the second movie however can go die in a ditch. And the questions about the second film were so valid, the bastardisation of the characters is inexcusable AND YES…DanTDM did indeed voice the E-Boy in the European version but only in theatres, since when I got the film on DVD, he was changed back to the American voice actor. No idea what happened there… What is the team behind the second movie didn’t understand is that by adding modern references, it dates the film badly. The first film is timeless because it doesn’t make pop culture references like the next Dr Seuss flick… Definitely gonna watch more commentaries if you make more! Watching this in full was definitely worth it! Thank you for enduring the suffering of the second movie so we can laugh at the joke is you guys made. Being funnier than the second film isn’t really a big feat to accomplish though. Honestly... that could have worked for a resolution for the Sequel movie. Make Vanellope hellbent on getting that steering wheel but being torn between her world and people vs Slaughter Race, while not necessarily demonizing the new thing. But in the end, the arcade game is discontinued, but Sugar Rush opens as an online game. Maybe it's even hinted at beforehand. Granted it's a copout, but it would make Vanellope seem less uncaring about the fate of her game and she'd be able to maintain her new relationships as well. Idk, it feels like the whole movie needs a rewrite, but that could have been a natural tie in to the online game. Never played it myself but if it exists online then why not use it as a plot point?

“She was programmed with the most tragic backstory ever. She was in an elevator. And then an earthquake hit. Her father and a baliff alongside herself were all stuck. The baliff began to panic as he started to run out of air, and started attacking her father. Seeing the gun next to the baliff, she grabs it, and throws it at the baliff. Due to the lack of oxygen, she passes out shortly afterwards, but not before hearing a soul shattering scream. When she woke up, her father was dead, with a bullet that pierced his heart.”

With TS4 and post-Reach Halo at least the shift in quality/consistency can be explained by the fact that the writers for that weren't the same ones who built the series prior, with the passion and effort to make a consistent world and character arcs that don't fall in on themselves. WBTI doesn't have that excuse, so what the actual fuck happened? Was Moore or whoever else on the team blackmailed? Did they all suffer from memory loss? WHAT?!

the unfortunate fact is... this film could have been good, the concept of Ralph and venelope going to the internet could have been interesting, well written, and fun, it was just wasted cuz Disney was like "DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY, YOU LOVE US AND OUR MOVIES, LOOK OVER THERE, AND THERE! LOOK AT ALL THE STUFF WE OWN!!!" instead of focusing on the game and internet part, in fact, online gaming could have been a great concept, imagine a scene of Ralph and venelope getting separated in different servers! SO MUCH WASTED POTENTIAL!

That could have been such an interesting concept and we could have had Ralph and Vanellope meet with some cool console characters from Nintendo PlayStation and Xbox. Not to the point of overcrowding the movie with them though as that would be so much nostalgia baiting. Just have a story with retro and console game characters interact and accept their differences at some point, rather than a horrible meta-commentary on Disney and their story tropes. God! That scene almost made everything from Star Wars to classic Disney, to Pixar feel like insignificant things now. Don’t worry, this movie’s insulting mockery that is some of the worst type of satire will never hurt those amazing films from these franchises and studios that we all still love to this day and it never will. This movie deserves to burn in hell.

Honestly the second movie made me HATE Vanelope. I know Ralph wasn’t exactly a saint either, but Vanelope was ruined for me after that movie and I just don’t think I’ll be forgiving her actions anytime soon. :/ (or Disney and Pixar for that matter.)

It also happened to me and my friends, we all cried bc this is was what we were living and at the end we left the place satisfied. But through the movie we constantly pointed out the inconsistencies and overall weirdness, it didn't follow any rules established. Anyways, watching it again made me realize how awful and outdated it is compared to the first one. Anyone can understand the first film without knowing much about arcade games but not this one. There's no way that adults or little kids would understand all the memes, seeing them again.. It just... cringe. Also, Boop

2:10:07 - 2:10:22 That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard regarding this movie! Ralph Breaks The Internet isn't even about Ralph learning to love himself. The reason he doesn't want Vanellope to leave him isn't because he hasn't learned to love himself, it's because he HAS learned to love himself and he thinks being able to hang out with her is what he DESERVES for how great of a friend he's been in the recent years. Ralph isn't worried that if Vanellope leaves, he'll be nothing without her. He's worried that if she leaves, he'll be nothing TO her. So, in conclusion, this movie is not about Ralph learning to love himself. It’s about him trying to safeguard a friendship. (P.S. I think it's crystal clear that Ralph has learned to love himself, considering that numerous times he tells other characters in the internet how cool he is.)

Also, this famous quote from the first movie destroys his whole argument and justification for Ralph’s actions in this movie. “I’m bad, and that’s good. I will never be good and that’s not bad. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗜’𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗲.” That last highlighted part is the most important.

@SonicPlayer2004 So true! He doesn't change who he is anyway. Here's some lines from the second that follow that. Yesss: "No wonder your video is so dope! Shank is for REAL cool." Vanellope: "I know, right?" Ralph: "Pffft. She is not. I'm the cool one gettin' all the hearts!" He doesn't change what he desires at any point after that scene.

What i dont like about 3d effects show off is that it makes the movie include those scenes shoving random objects into the screen to flex 3D effects, and ages really badly once you are watching in a display with no 3D effects.
