Here's some tips from my experience playing NR2003 season: -The AI is on full aggression at all times, and they will punt you if you brake a bit to early, racing with them takes alot of getting used to, best way to handle it is get used to giving other drivers room and letting people by who have your inside, instead of trying to fight them off, and be just as aggressive as them on race starts -You need to be SUPER precise entering your pit box, and its best not to pit under green if an AI is directly behind you, again they dont really care if you brake earlier than normal -If you actually want to complete long races, have damage OFF, trust me -Have stability control ON, it wont entirely get rid of slip angle or take control away from the player, it'll just make driving the car a bit more forgiving, especially when making contact with other cars, which I always felt its a bit to easy to lose control from light contact in this game. SC makes the driving a bit more forgiving wile still keeping it challenging, its done super well in this game -Unfortunetally, cautions are kinda broken on tracks like Martinsville and, wile not as bad and still raceable, Bristol. The track's short length cause the AI to pile up when slowing down for the pace car, which is a reason I recommend not having damage on -This game is best played with a wheel, I use 400 degrees of rotation, and the shortest steering rack in the garage settings, that, for me, makes it feel closer to how games on wheels feel today -The "easy" setup is easier to control, but generally slower, the "fast" setup is more difficult to drive, but faster overall, "qualify" is the qualifying trim setup, and "jasper" is I think ment to be an experimental setup -Here are some quick chat binds that are very useful: !lap+ #88$ Gives a car a lap back (replace 88 with any number, preferably your own if you get screwed somehow) !yellow$ Throws a caution !clear_black #88$ Clears a penalty for a car (again, 88 can be whatever number you want, preferably the players) NR2002 and 2003 were very ahead of their time, they didnt sugar coat a single thing, giving the player the full experience of driving in a NASCAR race, and because of that this game is very tough, especially if you're spoiled by modern sims Not everything about this game has aged well, but about 80% of it has stood the test of time, this game requires a TON of practice to fully get into, and even some tweaking and light "cheating", but once you get the hang of it, its super fun, and thanks to modding, a huge nostalgia trip.

The wrecks on the old NR2002 2003 sims are just so satisfying to watch back. There are so many compilations of these wrecks even with mods!

the blurry textures: there are a few settings to adjust outside the sim, use the NR2003 graphics tutorials and it should translate (though of course, skip any additional downloads, those won't be compatible) also, be very careful when you're pushing anyone in any of the late papyrus sims, the bumpers like to hook if you don't hit them square. Finally, trust the spotter - when he says you're clear, you're clear. He doesn't give you any margin for error though, so unless you're going for the win on the last lap or something, put in a bit of margin for error yourself before you move up to block. Fun fact: the spotter's voice actor has done a LOT of voice acting, including Duke Nukem :P Oh yeah, and when you lock up the brakes, you're dragging the rubber across the asphalt at 200 mph. NR2002 and 2003 model that correctly, no tire can withstand that :P

A couple of those cars that avoided the big wreck actually had some really good wreck avoidance AI going on there. Saw one take a hard left, saw another go through the grass. If you look closely, before Jeff Gordon got collected he's sliding to try and avoid it. Impressive.

Great video. I liked how that big wreck was so organic. It is sometimes fun to go to the office around the track and wreck the field. For that to happen, organically like that made it better yet.

7:48 Ironic that spinning Jimmie wasn’t a caution in this instance considering what happened in real life the next year at the Spring Talladega Race coming to the White Flag! And yes I agree, I don’t understand how the cars are blurry in your game because it never happened to me in my copy as a kid although it did in its predecessor which had Dale Sr in it since it came out 2 weeks before he passed away which is why I loved it so much! Keep it up Radman!

If you race at Bristol and wreck someone at the front of the field with cautions off, the wreck will last around 10 laps until less than 10 cars are left

Martinsville is a great track to wreck the field at, and if you do it right after the exit of pit road, you'll get the added bonus of the pace car entering the track and plowing straight through the pileup, sending cars flying like a freight train.

Older Papyrus games graphically don't work 100% right in modern hardware from the get go.... Search some videos for NR2K3, I'm pretty sure will work for the 2002 too, because the game despite being old is not supposed to be so ugly.
