We run Ophir Pass & Poughkeepsie Gulch in Colorado but we do it a little different then your typical overlanding channel because we specialize in hard core crawling and little to no planning. This creates a different vibe and we have deemed it Crawler-landing. weather its no plan point and shoot or gladiator fights during our trip. We may not know much but we sure know how to have fun.

Hey hey I was out there in late june on a Super Tenere 1200! Wish I had had more than just a GoPro because that trail kicked my ass, and I decided to turn around once I made it up to Engineer pass, that big honkin bike was definitely not designed for this kind of trail but it conquered it regardless. Granted i blew half the oil seals in the drive train...and both fork seals.......and maybe a rear brake line when I got bucked off the edge of one of the switchbacks... But not gonna lie the highest pucker factor was easily the stone outcropping/ridge y'all reached at 18:00. The only way to pass it on a bike that cant catapult itself over the mega crag between those two outcroppings is to hug the edge of the cliff, and when I say hug I mean there was MAYBE 2 inches between my sidewall and the edge. You can actually see the little strip on the right side of the vid at 18:10. Absolutely terrifying, absolutely exhilarating. Kissed the ground after I made it down with just front brakes. Anyway killer vid and I 100% intend to use it to show people how bonkers that trail was!

wow thats crazy!!! I saw a couple bikes running through wile we were out there and was just blown away. One rock could really send you off the mountain. 4x4 has a lot more forgiveness. Thank you so much for watching our video!!!

Poughkeepsie, back out last time due to storm coming. Ground was white with hail at animas forks. 13 hour day, 90 miles jeeping, it was EPIC.

The red Ford is a Raptor. Ford really has their off road trucks dialed. That thin road so nice on the dirt and rock roads.

Awesome! Just missed you we were there Aug 7th, 2022. Cool and some rain. I took my 2019 Power Wagon and my son took his 2020 Ram Rebel did Poughkeepsie Gulch thru Corkscrew and back to Ouray. Beautiful part of Colorado with Lake Como on the top of this trail.

I did it 2 years ago but I took a left instead of heading up to hurricane pass. next video we show that part and there is a alpine lake you can go to. Only thing I regret not doing is a polar plunge in that sucker.

@@WRECKEDGEAR Lake Como! We went over California pass, hit that lake (didn’t do the polar plunge lol) and then bounced on down Poughkeepsie. Between California pass and Animas City there is the “Frisco Mill” it’s falling down but fun to climb around and check out!

Love the Mischief Maker hoodie. We always start our vacation on Ophir Pass to acclimate to the altitude and to get everyone ready for living on the edge - shelf roads. The beginning of Engineer Mountain/Mineral Creek/Poughkeepsie has scared many people especially in in climate weather as their vehicles are sliding in 18:01 off camber situations near the edge of the trail. 19:35 is our favorite campsite, as well.

Holly and Walter are so freakin rad!!! Love wheeling with them and always got to support your friends. Ophir pass is just such a quick easy and fun trail that shuttles you back ad forth between the main paved roads. We go for the 4th almost every year and its almost always raining parts of the trip. We love the weather being from AZ The cool down for summer is amazing. That camp spot is so rad!!! legit right between the fork of the 2 creeks. Unfortunately we pulled a bunch of crap people left behind there like a busted up grill and other stuff. but it was in great shape when we left it.

So We had never done it before and I think that we end up passing that spot up. there were 3 or 4 rigs that were going slow and took that turn so we just went around them saving time. once I looked back down the trail and realized what we missed I was super bummed. We have already planned to make sure we go back and hit that trail next year. I legit can believe we missed the best part of the trail.

Great video. Welcome to Colorado! Looks like your Skydio drone did good. Mine randomly crashed into the lake when it was following me on a sea doo so that is that 🫠

I have to say the Skydio took a very long time for me to learn how to confidently fly it, trust it and make it do what I want but has been the best drone for what I do by far. Pro tip skydios don't like flying over water due to the reflection and the cameras don't get along very well. Same in the rain or even if its barley sprinkling. because the cams think that something is touching it.

Quick question on Ophir - is it a one-way only pass? We are gonna be up there in October and was looking at doing this from the Durango/Silverton side to get to Telluride but wanted to verify if I can even go that direction

You can go both ways! I really taking this to connect to Telluride!. Plenty of room the entire trail until you get to the pass. Once you get to the pass you can see if anyone is coming up. If someone is coming up the pass wait until they get through. You wont mind the wait I promise. the view is incredible and your going to want that little extra time to take it in. Once its clear start heading down it. have fun and safe travels!!!

Luckily you can see quite a ways down the pass at the top! Easily completed regardless which way you are going.
