We all know the Guitar Heroes ... Robert Johnson, Chuck Berry, BB King, Clapton, Richards, Hendrix, Beck, Page, Gilmour, Lukather, Knopfler, Van Halen et al. But there are also the Silent Guitar Heroes ... Kaye, Burton, Shelton, Tedesco, Vic Flick et al. Every bit as good and just as deserving of our adulation.

When I heard the songs that Louie played on, I realized that he was actually one of my earliest guitar heroes...seeing Mike Nesmith playing the solo to Valerie always left me with my jaw on the floor as a kid, it was Louie! The guitar work in Summer Breeze...Louie! The Jackson 5 stuff...and on and on. Now I know why I was partly drawn to certain songs, he was the guitar player on each and every one of them! A legend.

A player like Louie Shelton naturally gravitates to a Gibson 175. The tone of this guitar is reminiscent of the 50s and 60s era of music when jazz was being played by all the session musicians of that era. Great to hear someone do justice to such a beautiful sounding instrument. Louie Shelton plays all the genres and make this guitar sound appropriate for any setting.

Never knew about Louie until now but he's obviously a phenomenal guitarist. I remember picking up the solo from "Hello" in my teens as the band I was playing in was sort of joking around with it. It was one of those songs that we found somewhat funny but still liked and respected. We were very impressed by the solo and I think I may have been under the impression that it was George Benson. I could pick up most of it from memory because it was so melodic and I had heard it so many times, probably on MTV in part. Love Louie's playing here. I want that ES-175D!
