I actually rather liked that Pride / Final Testament match. It wasn't the greatest thing ever or anything, but it was a fun little hardcore match, quick and simple. Worst match of the year seems harsh.

Yeah like im surprised that is number 2, like it wasnt on my list cause it was fine but very forgettable, i probably wouldve added Naito vs Moxley from Forbidden Door cause i remember feeling massively underwhelmed from that match and it just looked sloppy at times

I thought the 3-minute Candice/Indi-Maxxine/Ivy match where Candice mocks Maxxine's dead brother, then Indi wins with the laziest kick ever would have made the list. I remember seeing Dan on the review the next day being nearly apoplectic over this match.

Maxxine has dodged these lists two years in a row now, despite it never really being her fault and purely due to poor booking, she was a completely untrained valet who is still learning the basics, and I really admire her courage, but last years match against Rhea was BRUTAL to watch and was also ignored on these lists.

Hook v Jericho was a fine match. Maybe 2.5 stars with a solid Taz pop. So I dunno how it is worse than those Nia matches. And I am a Jericho hater.

Triple H has NOT booked the Women well on the MR. Raw especially. Like this Rhea vs. Liv feud had the potential to be REALLY compelling and emotional given their history. But instead it’s been the most one dimensional cookie cutter repetitive nonsense.

I would also mention, regarding the myth of the death spot, that the CROWD was ready for Willow/Stat to be the "death spot" and within mere MINUTES they had come back alive because those two went from 0-60 and just kept going.

This is before ive watched the list so this might age bad but i think for me my worst match of this year was Ibushi vs Marufuji from NOAH, like obviously the circumstances were bad considering Ibushi was somewhat injured but for him to get injured again and to have the match basically fall apart and still go on for 30 minutes, i couldnt deal with it. Like i just felt embarrassed for Marufuji and Ibushi cause they could've done sooo much better and it was just god awful. So idk if its gonna get mentioned Update: after watching the list, i think Ibushi vs Marufuji shouldve been on the main list, Pride vs Final Testement in all honesty i wouldnt have put on my list at all, cause it was fine but forgettable. I also probably wouldve put Moxley vs Naito from Forbidden Door cause that match sucked in my opinion

Really surprised that The Pride vs. Final Testament match made the list, never mind so high on the list. My son and I really enjoyed it, Snoop on commentary adding to it, and I thought it was generally received well.

Just to provide some clarity on why the trios titles were separated, I think this is another thing Tony carried over from boxing. When a unified/undisputed champion can’t fulfill their title defense obligations, and in the event that the governing body or promotion chooses against the route of an interim champion, thenat least one if not all of their titles are vacated. Because the Bang Bang Gang were forced to vacate their Undisputed Trios Titles, the titles were split back up by default, leaving the door open for Dustin Rhodes and the Von Erich’s to have a run in ROH.

War Games has become the new HIAC, and that Women's match proves it. Take Survivor Series back to Survivor Series again, (not necessarily "brand warfare," though I thought it was a bit of fun) and let War Games matches happen when the time and storyline necessitates it.

Wait, Ibushi vs Marafuji didn't even make the top 10? It was easily the worst match of the year, which is really unfair on Marafuji because the man tried so hard. But Ibushi went in to the match with a bad ankle, and somehow broke them both minutes into the match and carried on for nearly 30 minutes. It's so bad

I just watched the pride vs ft at mania the other day, there is NO WAY it's worse than gunn vs white. 0% chance. The crowd is into it, it's short, there is some fun spots, it's not great but it's like 2 3/4. Gunn white is a dud. Go back and watch both and I highly doubt you come out saying ya the mania match is worse.

Here's my reason Billy Gunn vs Jay White should be worst match of 2024. At the time of that match, Jay White was the most recent wrestler to have a singles win over Jon Moxley.

The real worst match of the year was Ibushi vs Marufuji, 33 minutes long with one of the worst main events of the year (it was in Jan. 2nd) and Ibushi got injured early on

Problem with Nia Jax is I think she's to scared to hurt someone accidentally now and she's pulling back so much it doesn't come as natural but someone being to safe isn't a bad thing always

The problem is also that her work rate has never been great. She's fine as a Big Bruiser, but she wrestles the same exact match every time since she came back. That works fine for a midcard heel with a decent feud, but on your champion? It's a tough sell. The answer for her isn't to start trying hurricanranas. It's to build out a better moveset (like a Bronson or Big E type) and work on her conditioning for longer matches.

Jay White/Billy Gunn is my vote for worst match of 2024, I can’t believe they had Billy Gunn batter Jay White for ten minutes as if he’s Sting. Baffling booking Dishonourable mentions to Britt/Mercedes, Mercedes/Shida (AEW All Out), Nemeth/Hendry (TNA Bound For Glory), The Pride/Final Testament (WWE WrestleMania XL Night 2), Rhea/Liv (WWE Bad Blood), Jericho/Briscoe (Ladder War) and Vice/Baszler (NXT Battleground) Edit: I will say, Britt was also hindered by her injury which seemed like it was a serious deal, so that might’ve affected her ring rust. Still a bad match tho Edit 2: Just remembered I need to do my top 5 shows of the year, they are: 5) AEW All In 4) NXT Heatwave 3) AEW All Out 2) WWE WrestleMania XL 1) AEW Revolution

To be fair to Jey/Jimmy, Jey is on record in interviews about that match saying that their match time got basically cut in half and they had to then improvise with the time they had. They obviously did not improvise into something good, and I'm not sure how much it actually hurt the final product; but I do feel for them both a bit after hearing that.

He got VERY pissy with Swerve Strickland over the most minor of corrections and made that tantamount to a personal attack. He's just been very whiny about modern wrestling, and then went and had a major stinker. It makes him very easy to mock.

Jimmy & Jey was bad because they have an established "work stuff out" pace between them over the course of their life. They should've been allowed to work the match out at house shows for 6 months to just kill the "we're just practicing in a warehouse" timing that they have long established with each other. It's like if you're an actor that you ONLY rehearse off stsage with for 25 years. If you then suddenly go on stage with that person, people will feel you fall into the "we're just tooling around" thing that you guys have together, instead of feeling like you're both actually the characters you're pretending you are. PLUS Jey Uso has been a singles wrestler for a year and a half now and is pretty close now to having more singles matches in those 18 months than the entire rest of his 20 year career... COMBINED. Jimmy had only had like 50 singles matches in his entire life. Tldr- They're two guys who have an established "training" pace between them that can only be broken by having a ton of matches in front of a crowd, and they were given none of the because they just wanted the "first time ever" thing, and neither man was ever led to believe they'd ever be singles wrestlers until a few months before this match. They were incredibly green at one aspect of the art but were left to twist in the wind because they're veterans at another aspect of it, as if it would just all be the same thing

What are you on about lmao. The Usos match was far too boring, with all the super kicks making it worse. At least the Bucks do more with their moveset, being high fliers and all. Even if a Bucks match has the same number of super kicks as the Jimmy Jey match; the bucks make up for it by doing wild and nonsensical flips and dives, as dumb as they may be, it’s different. The problem with the Jimmy Jey match is that it’s boring and is just super kicks with nothing to supplement the action besides undercooked bloodline drama

What are you talking about? Unholy Union were the perfect choice to win the tag titles at Clash. They were Scottish, they could lift the curse they placed on the belts, and they freed Bianca and Jade from the tag title purgatory... for about 2 months until they won them back.

Sonya deville vs iyo sky & Sonya deville vs Lyra valkyria were both pretty bad matches back to back. I think triple h decided to stop booking Sonya in singles matches & instead only tag matches because of these matches. It's the worst iyo sky match ever & it made iyo look bad which seems impossible. The same goes from valkyria the match made her look bad. Their was this spot were Lyra was trying to do a gut wrench sit out power bomb but for some reason Sonya wouldn't let go of Lyra leg & lyra keep yelling let go🤦. Also Dalton castle vs johnny tv in a fight without honor match should be on her because that match sucked. It just as bad as jimmy uso vs jey uso but it goes ten minutes more than jimmy & jey did. To top it off once Daltons mask guys come in during the match that were I said what is even going on anymore & why is this match still going on because I just want to get to shida vs Athena & Kingston vs Briscoe.

The list is based on what a bunch of people thought and is also a runaway winner. I haven't seen it so I don't know and yes that Billy gunn match was awful, but the opinion of 2 people hosting it don't change the outcome of the list. Also ollie is basically a.human centipede with hhh so kinda balances out
