In 2002, the hottest entity was RVD and he "kind of" became a Triple Champion He was on a run of Victories establishing himself as one of the top guys. During this run, he unified the European Championship after defeating Jeff Hardy in a Title vs Title match and then the Hardcore championships by defeating Tommy Dreamer in a Title vs Title Match within a month. Although the unification meant he never had the 3 titles on him physically, but he was a Triple Champion by default.

The WCW championship history started 1991 not in 1948 that's the NWA. THE WWE U.S. title also have nothing to do with the NWA or WCW the WWE/WWF had their own US title in the early 70's
