Pretty crazy stuff... I remember watching an interview a few years back where Vince stated something along the lines of Ted Turner is a billionaire and the WWF had a really hard time trying to compete with his money.

Also, the first 2 wrestlemanias that DDP appeared at, 6 and 18, we're also held at the same venue: the skydome in Toronto, Also, edge and Christian attended Wreslemania 6 as teenagers

WWE always likes to make themselves out as the victims in this period. They were still a powerhouse overseas and were light years ahead of WCW in merchandise.

Think Enron ... hell, think Toys 'R Us and a lot of old brands going bankrupt after 50 and 100 years ... a lot of these companies are "walking wounded" ... like the Tyson payout, they sometimes make huge investments (although usually it's smaller but large investments nonetheless) to stay afloat ... WWE is an entertainment medium: that means lots of people (labor) and paying for distribution (channels to bring eyeballs and customers) ... listen to Paul Heyman's interview about the underlying issue that killed ECW ... labor and licensing or distribution have to be on point for media / entertainment to survive ... WWE despite being seen just might have been hemorrhaging money ...

I remember Wild Cat Willy of WCW. I had more access to WCW and I was in elementary school during the 1990s my gradpa got me in to wrestling that orginal version. Not much later version.

I feel like WWE was never as close to going out of business as they let on. Both WCW and WWE had similar attendance throughout 1996 and 1997. Not to mention, WWE was more popular worldwide than WCW.

You may not know that Sting wrestled both Kane and Undertaker while in WCW. Also Triple H wrestled Road Dogg in WCW.

I wouldn't be shocked if they were close to going under in 97 at that point some of if not most of the talent was earning more money than Vince himself as has been mentioned by Bret, HBK and Kevin Nash. Overcoming WCW is a hell of an accomplishment though they were a billion dollar company company with a bottom-less supply of money backing it

WCW really missed the mark on not hiring Sable! Could you imagine how that would have transformed the role of women in WCW. They could have had a great division. They already had Madusa, Mona (Molly Holly) and Torrie Wilson.
