Heyman was the first guy, and there is a very long story about this, but he literally said “how about I give guys a mic and let them say whatever they want”. He started by making Mic Foley a straight star with his shoots. But it was also aligned with ECW. Like they would shoot outside the arena and just talk about the show. And don’t forget about Raven. If you don’t know why he was so goo, watch his promos from the beginning.

One of the reasons CM Punk got so popular is because of the Pipebomb promo. He was spitting straight up facts at the time. I also love the “ shoot “ promos blurring the lines between real and in the ring

Even though I wasn’t born around that time,Shawn and Bret’s rivalry was the realest fued in wrestling history,watching old videos of them I would always think a fight would break out at any second
@robertriverathe3rd
@robertriverathe3rd 4 ай бұрын
They did end up having a back stage fight, although everyone describes it as more of a hair pulling match lol. Bret has said that him and Shawn were friends for a long time and that their rivalry was something they both were creating together. They wanted their rivalry to feel so real that even the boys in the locker thought it was real. Eventually the lines became so blurred that it became real. This is the definition of being worked into a shoot.

More proof that Paul is a professional 100% and (much like Vince) will allow people to get over on him if it's best for business. In ways he's actually better than Vince cause McMahon was still butthurt regarding Punk and didn't want for him to come back, where as Trips knew it was best for business and was willing to set aside his personal feelings/ego for it. That being said, that s**t he said to Chris Masters (you can see the clip in this vid but can't hear the audio, thank goodness) was way over the line and super dickish.

One for me would be the promo Randy Orton did on Jeff Hardy back in like 2018 or something. He talked about not wearing different colors just to steal the fans money(Cena), then talked about not waving his hands in the air like some idiot and not jumping off of ladders(Hardy), and lastly i think he talked about not coming around once every year for WrestleMania just to have a match(Taker, Lesnar, Rock etc.) honestly my fav promo of all time.

The thing with Punk's promos against Vince and the "authority" about firing people because he doesn't know what makes a superstar in 2011, that made HHH dislike him so much, is that now HHH is actually on the other side of it, seeing superstars that he brought through, get unceremoniously fired by Vince in 2019 during COVID and then again in 2021 while HHH was recovering from a heart attack, he probably now understands where Punk was coming from all those years ago.

I mean Nash patting himself on the back for slapping Joe twice is laughable considering one slap in retaliation from Joe would've tore both his quads🙄...

Say what you want about CM Punk but he's had PLENTY of memorable promos besides the "pipe bomb." He was on a rampage in 2011. Everything from the things he said, who he said it to and the timing of his retorts were all golden. Dude was an absolute menace who gave 0 fucks and I'm sure he made other superstars want to legit hit him in his mouth. He's just a god tier ass hole who habitually crossed lines 😂😂😂

Broo, omfg...94-00 you just had to be there to experience the WWF! Alot of this was on sunday night heat and Raw, smackdown wasnt even thought of when cornette went off. I wish i was old enough to experience Austin in ECW. Im surprised you found that clip of Austin.

I can see Rock and HHH doing a great job in creative writing together. Both guys spent a tremendous amount of time crafting good story telling and match making during the attitude era and Hollywood respectively. I don’t see their ideas differing that drastically from each other. There will be compromises but that’s a given when we talk about a multi billion dollar operation.

What I respect about the wwe is that. They let pipe bombs happen, and they use them for story. Yah you can tell what you want about some of their businesses, but you can't take that away from them.
