Kane's initial unmasked run was massively underrated imo. He went from being a masked silent killer in the same vein as Jason Voorhees/Michael Myers to being an emotionally unstable psychopath. Glenn Jacobs played the roles to perfection despite the fact he was a victim of some awful booking and storylines.

Although Kane and Taker ended up feuding again in mid 2000s it was a huge missed opportunity not drafting him to smack-down around 03. Having him and Taker feud around that time over the heavyweight belt would of been great. Kane deserved at least a few more championship runs.

Can't argue with Singlet (2000-2001) and OG Kane (1997-1998) being his best eras. 1999 when he trimmed down and was teaming with X-Pac was another real big time frame for Kane; he started to expand his moveset and got to be a Face for the first time. Despite a lot of forgetable matches, lack of world tittle reigns and never really getting his spot at Wrestlemania. Every match that Kane participated had fans looking forward to the feud even without a title on the line. Even if Kane did not win a Royal Rumble, its the top superstar in the match with multiple milestones (while many winners have been forgotten). He put a lot of superstars over (saldy a great amount of those where unsuccessful proyects that damaged his rep by losing to them), But he always proved to be the bigger man (literally and figuratively) carrying on and doing his best to get the storyline over.

The original "Silent but Violent Monster" is my personal favorite. I started to really get into wrestling at the beginning of The Attitude Era where Kane debuted in but also, he was portrayed as an "opposite but just as equal & just as dark" version of his "brother" The Undertaker. The Undertaker would enter on shutting out the lights then his fabled funeral bell gong with a blue hue that would light the stage & ring, Kane's entrance back then was a mirror image to The Undertaker's in contrast. For Kane the lights would go out as well but, his intro would start with a haunting organ playing then the stage & ring would slowly start to light up in red hue(in contrast to The Undertaker's blue hue) and, "hellfire" would erupt from the stage as he marched to the ring like a machine hell bent on destroying it. His going through phases just like his brother The Undertaker shows that "Kane" has ALWAYS followed after his big brother like a little brother would in one way or another. Our fallen morticious Paul Bearer would be proud of both of his boys... As he rightfully should be... 😔

Kane will always be one of my favorite characters in WWE history. My favorite versions will always be 1997-2000 where he was literally a horror movie villain come to life, 2001-2002 where he was the strong silent type and showed how much a pure wrestler he was, 2003-2004 where the character was revealed to internally scarred and everyone should feel his pain, 2010 where he had a successful storyline where he looking for his brother’s attacker but, it turned out to him and went on to win the big gold belt and beat Undertaker 3 times, and 2012-2014 where he found himself again and revealed he was locked in a basement as a child. Glen Jacobs you can easily tell he was very easy to work with and he was definitely a team player

Well, my childhood wrestling game was Smack Down 2 Know Your Role. THat version of Kane was my first introduction to Kane so it was my favorite, and we always pick him. We started watching WWE around 2002, so we first see him in real life television as the tank top half masked Kane. Later around 2006 we got access to DVDs with old WWF footages and saw his debut destroying the Hell in a cell door, that terrified us lol but we were like "Why he looked fat?(compared to smackdown 2)". So I later found out that in 1999, he was this Skinny, full masked Kane with a little bit of tweak on his costume which is so cool, and his walking stature with a little bit of a hunch on his back was so intimmidating. And it solidified the reason why it's the best version of Kane to me.

1997 kane through to wrestlemania 14 (1998) was his best run. Untouchable, monster, the losses to taker at wrestlemania and the inferno match was the beginning of the end for that version of Kane and that for me was when he became watered down, beatable and lost that edge

People who have been alive throughout Kane's career are the only ones that can speak.. but it's very obvious that the 2000 - 2001 (fire tank top) Kane is the absolute prime. Even 20 years throughout, 9 outta 10 people say this.. Some mention No Mercy 2003 Kane, and Some mention debut Kane, with the double long sleeves and had a scary ass voice.

I love how the two most dynamic character developments came from the company’s two deadliest kayfabe brothers. Sure taker had the undead mortician, the cult leader, the biker, and what some call “the last outlaw” etc., but Kane had; terrifying, terrifying with an exposed arm, terrifying in a tank top, unmasked terrifying, remasked terrifying, and the most terrifying of all: HR department

To me, after learning about Kane both on-screen and backstage, he easily has to have one of the most interesting WWE journeys ever. He started as Isaac Yankem and Fake Diesel, and failed to get both gimmicks over (though I don't blame him). In many cases, you don't even get a 2nd chance in WWE, but the Undertaker loved working with him as Unabomb in Smoky Mountain Wrestling, and went to bat for Glenn to wrestle as Kane. Even then, Kane was designed to feud with the Undertaker, and then the character would be written off. But what Vince didn't initially expect was that WWE fans would become so invested in the dysfunctional family storyline, and ultimately wanted to see the brothers reconcile like feuding siblings do in real life. By the point that happened, we got to witness the birth of one of the most dominant tag teams in history, and Kane was ultimately able to step out of the Undertaker's shadow and hold his own in WWE. I also thought it was cool what the Undertaker said on his podcast, where he said that to this day, fans ask if he and Kane are really brothers. I thoguht it was touching when Undertaker said they're not biological brothers, but he became like a brother to him.

Kane looked more mysterious when he talked less and with his mask on. WWE turned him from a dominant force, psycho, soft emotional timid, less intimidating, comical lame team "HELL NO", to a corporate puppet. This can't be the same Kane I grew up watching, Kane character is destroyed and can't taken serious anymore along with this PG crap.

I remember as a kid when Kane unmasked in 2003 and went insane, that creeped me the heck out back then, I recall constantly wondering who he was going to go after next. As for May 19th Kane, at least that version had the hilarious match with Rob Conway and Shawn Michael. I still laugh hysterically at Shawn just sitting on the ropes while Kane destroys Conway and then later when he yells “May 19th” into the mic and leaves it on Conway.
