I would add that you do NOT take the racquet back with the hitting arm; you use the non-dominant hand to ‘carry’ the racquet by the throat during the unit turn. This prevents muscle contraction/stiffness when you start the hitting stroke as you demonstrate.

What is the level of the coach? Just to understand the perspective she is coming from. Did she play WTA? Did she play at least some good D1 college?

Kata used to play pro in the juniors and was ranked around 150 in the world at that point. She never tried her hands at the WTA or ITF women's circuits however and did not play college tennis. Her UTR at the time would have probably been around 10-10.5 if the UTR had been a thing back then but this is just speculation ;)

Wow - so this explains why pros appear to be swinging level but the racket still moves up. I’ve never seen this concept before.

Can we do this exercise for two handed backhand as well?
@revolutionarymotion4161
@revolutionarymotion4161 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, however, it depends slightly on the amount of spin you are trying to produce with your backhand. Since two hands are connected to the racket during your backhand the loop in the back has less of the up and down movement. Other than that it applies the same way as on the forehand. Hope this answered your question! :)
