Width of piston at pin bore - length of pin/2 - width of slot inside piston - small end width/2. Difference is amount of shim you need either in pin bore or under piston when on a flat surface and rod is sitting on piston slot. Ex. 3" piston width -2.5" pin=.5/2=.25. 1.06" slot-.928 rod=.125/2=.06. .25-.06 =.19 washer in pin bore. When you drop pin in it will be .31 below piston at top side, when you move rod .06" up to center you will have .25" at each end. The only time you would need shim under piston is if pin is same or bigger than piston. Draw a picture to make sense, may need for next project.

WATCH your face with that bushing that is doing the pushing. You will be surprised by what a slippage could do to your nose, an eye or any of your front teeth. It happens in a mini-second but that is all that it takes!
