Never thought of this kind of drill!!!! The kneeling down seems to really help (practice and repetition). And not every day u see old style surface ball returns mated with the Brunswick 2000 tray/rack.

you're either hanging on too tight or your thumb hole is to small. does your thumb touch the walls of the thumb hole? if so, its too small. you want to see air between your thumb and the wall of the hole. If you're holding on too tight, its probably because the holes are too far apart.

+PVPfanatic I'd also try slowing way down for a few shots. I notice that sometimes I grip the ball more when I am thinking about throwing a faster/harder ball. If this is part of the problem, then slow down the approach and shorten the arm swing and let the ball come off more easily and gently--don't worry about making a shot. I've had luck with this when I had a thumb hole that was a bit snug--until I got that sorted out of course.

Don't forget to make sure the ball is drilled for your hand properly. You shouldn't have to grip on it to throw it if you have a good fingertip drilling. If you are using a non-fingertip drill then you really have no choice but to apply some level of grip to keep it on your hand during your swing.
