Best scene of the entire franchise, in my opinion. Regardless of midichlorians, endless thirst for knowledge, or raw talent, or being "anointed" by the Force [see Plagueis novel] ~ it's actually a more psychological aspect that's front-and-center in determining true mastery of the Force. I like that certain Legends stories also took full advantage of this, and it's almost like Yoda *_rediscovered_* a basic lesson that the Jedi [and Sith] alike had all but forgotten. _Doubt_ profoundly weakens all Force-users, especially those over-reliant on its use. ^ *Belief in oneself* is the true foundation of anyone's power in the Force, and it's hinted that Vader didn't actually "lose" any of his Force potential [only being weakened by doubting himself]. It makes that one scene with Yoda all the more beautiful in my eyes.

My favorite moment in Rogue One is the closing of the shield gate, when Blue Squadron makes a mad dash to get inside the planet's atmosphere. The visuals are awesome, the soundtrack hitting hard, and the blocking is so tight. But most of all, the theme is screaming through. Everyone in Blue Squadron is rushing to Rogue One's aid, but the act itself is a suicide run, since once they succeed in getting planetside they'll be trapped on an Imperial stronghold. It effectively cements the film's themes of noble (and ignoble) sacrifice. Gives me chills every time I watch it.

Best scene for me out of all of the movies was Luke failing to lift the X-Wing out of the swamp, and Yoda doing it. “Do, or do not. There is no try” - Yoda. and after Yoda lifts it out effortlessly, “I don’t believe it” - Luke, “That, is why you fail” - Yoda. This scene had some truly iconic Star Wars lines, and marked real character change for Luke going forward.

It also cemented why I love certain Legends stories that took advantage of that line. The logic of that most basic [yet forgotten] lesson that Yoda arguably "rediscovered" while in exile on Dagobah ~ that *belief* is what gives all Jedi [and Sith] their power. Force-users need to believe in themselves if they don't want to be powerless.

I have to disagree on this one, having not watched the Clone Wars. It feels extremely contrived and flimsy. Why can Palpatine order the Storm Troopers to do what he wants when the Jedi have been leading them? Why would they turn on them anyways following this order? Are they mind controlled? And the Jedi couldn't sense this coming? None of them? The group of people who can inherently sense the future and danger? Who fought an entire army of droids and survived multiple times? All of these make this scene unbelievable. It's like Lucas said he wanted all the Jedi to die, so they did. No explanation, just they die. We don't even really know any of the Jedi that die, so we feel basically nothing for them because they are literally nobody's. It's a bad scene of story telling IMO, and I disagree here with Brandon that it's a good scene. After the fact explanations from the Clone Wars don't cut it, the movie should stand on its own.

@@Princesilk347 Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, and I can understand if Order 66 doesn’t work for you. However, I do think that the prequels address some, if not all, of your questions, if not episode 3 itself: Palpatine can order the Clone Troopers because he’s the head of state with extraordinary power in the government. We know he was given emergency powers in Episode 2, and at the start of Episode 3, we find out he’s continued grabbing more power AND overstayed his term limit. I find it very believable that he had the power to activate a kill switch on the entire Jedi Order. Another important thing to remember is that the Clones were bred to be soldiers. They were trained to obey orders without question and act swiftly to the best of their abilities. In real life, soldiers are trained to act without thinking; it follows that the clones would be experts in this practice. This is important when you remember that Jedi have limits to their powers. Jedi can sense where people/things are, and they can “sense their thoughts”, as shown even in the OT. However, the Jedi are peacekeepers; they are NOT soldiers themselves. This idea gets repeated throughout the prequels, and is important when analyzing the Jedi’s relationship with the clones they lead. While the Jedi might be capable of sensing thoughts or even reading the clones’ minds, the average Jedi would either not understand the military jargon going through a clone’s head, or would be listening to relative silence as the clones acted on instinct. When the clones start to “execute Order 66”, the Jedi appeared to not sense anything wrong until it was too late. “Well, why did the Jedi survive fights with thousands/millions of droids to be gunned down by droids?” First of all, not all Jedi survived: I believe around 50-100 Jedi went to rescue Obi-wan, Anakin, and Padme in Episode 2, but only around two dozen are left by the time the clones arrive. On top of that, while every prequel movie mentions that the Jedi are stretched thin, Episode 3 implies the Order is in a dire situation, if it’s not stated directly. The Jedi Council even sends multiple council members to frontline duty, and even though this follows the Jedi value of selflessness, it does imply that the Jedi are so strapped for volunteers that council members are still taking missions even after Corusaunt was attacked directly. I think it’s safe to say that the Jedi as a whole are being stretched to their limits. I would argue that, because of these stresses, the Jedi became overly dependent on the clones. Not only do we see every clone obey orders from a Jedi, the Jedi themselves don’t hesitate to start giving orders. The very first action the clones take in Episode 2 is saving the surviving Jedi from the Geonosian arena, which cements them as reliable allies in both the Jedi’s mind and the audience’s. The clones proceeded to never betray this trust once on screen right up until Order 66. This is even emphasize onscreen by having Commander Cody hand Obi-wan his lightsaber back seconds before receiving and then carrying out Obi-wan’s execution order. It appears that most Jedi are so conditioned to believe in the troops that most don’t even realize they’ve been betrayed, and those that do are so confused that they don’t react quickly enough (reminder, the clones are stoically following orders); even Obi-wan had no warning before he was blasted off a wall. The only Jedi who felt was something off in the montage is Yoda, who is tipped off initially by feeling other Jedi dying through the force. Thus, I would argue that the movie (or more specifically the prequel trilogy) did provide the groundwork for justifying Order 66. If that evidence isn’t good enough for you, I can’t really argue with it. But I can’t agree with the assumption that George Lucas only threw Order 66 in at the last minute; he already had two films where the Jedi were shown to be vulnerable and Palpatine was shown to be a very competent politician. I feel like a kill order on all the Jedi is natural consequence of this scenario, but that is just my opinion. P.S.: I also tried my hardest to only base my reasoning off the actual prequel films or my personal analysis. I specifically avoided using anything from The Clone Wars or other media, since you wanted it justified within the movie itself (Although I argue that Episodes 1 and 2 are still fair game). I’m also specifically leaving out a very crucial retcon from the Clone Wars because 1. It was not in the original Episode 3, and 2. I think this retcon was specifically make Order 66 more palatable for the Clone Wars’s child audience rather than justify the reasoning of Episode 3.
@Princesilk347
@Princesilk347 7 күн бұрын
@@CyberDrewan I really appreciate your analysis here and trying to justify this scene in the movies, and you definitely went into a lot of depth here, which I love. That being said, haha probably no surprise that I don't see it this way, and I'll explain why. First, you mention that Palpatine has emergency powers and is the head of the government, which is true. However, what they don't ever establish, even in a random, one sentence throwaway line, is that he is in control of or in any way connected to the military. Like, not even a war planning session where the generals (who are Jedi) lay out different options for battle and then Palpatine approves them or anything. I honestly don't even know what the emergency powers are that Palpatine gets, other than the greenlight to form a Clone Army back in episode 2. We are forced to assume he has the power to order Clones around (which is a reasonable assumption) except that is directly contradicted by the movies showing us the only people to order around Clone troopers are the Jedi and other troopers, until Order 66. So not only does this assumption fail the "show don't tell" montra, it also misses what was actually shown, which is Clone troopers obeying Jedi and not Palpatine. There's also a logistics problem, that while maybe a bit more minor, still feels important. Palpatine has to have been involved somehow with the Clones separate from the Jedi, but I have zero knowledge how. Like, he needs to have known separately that this kill switch programing existed, yet we are never even kind of shown him interacting with storm troopers. So how did he know that it did exist, and why did he know that he could secretly communicate it to the clones and they would just do it without question or fail? These are pretty basic plot points that don't have an answer in the movies, or are even really hinted at. All we get is him opening a direct comms channel to a subordinate (how did he even secretly establish that? Is there like a special comm for it? A personal number the Jedi don't know about somehow? Again never explained) and then giving him a seemingly built in order to go kill the Jedi. I think the result is maybe two minutes of screen time? Most of that being about Yoda sensing it before it happened. So to me, there really isn't much time invested in explaining how this could even be setup, let alone why it makes sense in context. Next you mention that the clones are soldiers supposed to follow orders blindly. While this may be a valid assumption, it's a bad way to tell a story. Clones are inherently not droids, so they have to have some benefit over droids in order to justify them, right? Otherwise why not just make another droid army? The benefit should be that they can adapt and respond better tactically than a droid can, because they aren't limited by their programming. Or in other words, that they can think and adapt to the situation without orders, and thus think independently. So already on paper this shouldn't inherently be an assumption we have. But, unfortunately, the movies never actually show us that the Clones do blindly follow orders until this moment, so it seems very out of place to make it a rule at that point. It feels like a rule after the fact used to justify this plot point. What would have made way more sense is showing the Clone troopers blindly doing something bad but small for Palpatine in an earlier scene that then justified that he has this power over them and that they are conditioned or whatever to follow orders. Like I can imagine a scene where say a stray Jedi discovers Palpatine may be evil and then tries to warn others, but Palpatine orders some Clone troopers to kill the Jedi (who was just ordering them around himself to watch his back) and they do so without mercy or hesitation. That would have been a great scene to demonstrate all these powers and abilities Palpatine has over Clones that he later uses on a mass scale. But alas, we don't get anything close to that, and so we have to assume Clones follow his bidding without any justification.
@Princesilk347
@Princesilk347 7 күн бұрын
@@CyberDrewan Which, again is another logistics problem. How were the troops trained to follow orders from him? Did he go to Kamino and say to the long neck aliens to add that feature in? Did they come premade with hypnosis or mind control chips? Like I just have no idea from context why they are mindless and follow specifically his orders. In Game of Thrones, for example, the Unsullied are sort of mindless soldiers too, but they follow Danearse Targaryen because she is the one who freed them, the "breaker of chains". Why would soldiers blindly follow Palpatine, who has shown zero military involvement until this moment? How do they even really know who he is? Vs the Jedi are called the generals of this army, so they have actively been commanding these troops for I guess years. It's one of those instances where the logistics raises more questions then answers, because surely a Jedi would have detected this mind control somewhere in the chain right? Are they that stupid and blind that they can't smell a fishy trap when it's set for them? Like, why even trust the Clones to begin with at that point? You mention the Jedi being peacekeepers and not soldiers, but that's hamfisted at best. Maybe they started off as just peacekeepers, but for years they command the clone armies. That makes them soldiers, even if they never went through boot camp or whatever. And they would clearly understand military jargon if they've been ordering and interacting with these troopers for years on the front lines. They almost certainly couldn't survive if they didn't. And the clones having "no thoughts" in their heads to sense again is never actually shown in the movies or even hinted at, and moreover there's nothing in the Jedi force sense abilities that says they need to read thoughts in order to sense the future anyways. Case in point, predicting droid movements shouldn't involve sensing any thoughts, just preternatural reactions. And they do that all the time. So even from a lore perspective this doesn't jive with what we know about how they interact with the force. I honestly have no idea from the movies how many Jedi fought in episode 2 and then died. They don't ever mention it or really show it except in one scene that has frankly a lot going on. But I do know none of the named Jedi die there (convenient plot armor) so as an audience member it feels like their core strength is still intact. We don't even get a random dialogue about how their numbers are at half capacity or anything. It's tenuous at best that their order is suffering at all from lack of resources/people, as it's never even mentioned in passing. But ok, let's hold that assumption to be true even if the movie doesn't really justify it anywhere. I agree that the Jedi are dependent on the Clones, and I think that is decently established in the movies. What isn't established is why they would trust them even with these limited people. Like, as you said, the clones are supposed to be mindless. Would you trust a mindless thing with a weapon that you don't know how to control it or how it functions? Like even if it had followed your commands up til this point, would you ever fully trust such a non-human thing? But moreover, you're telling me that no Jedi even had the hint of suspicion about them? Let's ignore for a second that their backstory of being clones of an assassin is clearly suspicious, and just focus on that these are clones bread for the purpose of war and the Jedi are "peacekeepers". Shouldn't they inherently be reticent to even have anything to do with them, let alone trust them so much that they won't ever even conceive of them turning on them? And not like just one Jedi, but all of them? Dozens if not hundreds of them throughout the galaxy never once question the reliability of these mindless soldiers? It stretches incredulity to think this.
@Princesilk347
@Princesilk347 7 күн бұрын
@@CyberDrewan Again a better approach to establish this would have been to have some Jedi being skeptical and others being pragmatic and saying we need to use them anyways, rather than blind loyalty in the soldiers never turning on them. But if you had that, you'd likely have more Jedi survive, and that can't happen because then it would contradict the OT plot point that nearly all Jedi don't exist in the future except Yoda and Obi Wan and maybe a couple others. So we get Order 66, where essentially all Jedi but a couple die because they must to match a plot point. Also, this misses a bit my other criticism, which is that several of the Jedi, even when faced with overwhelming odds, still survive. So the result of Order 66, which is given without warning or without pre-planning or anything, instantly results in ALL Jedi being in a place where the Clone Troopers can easily and effortlessly kill them? Like, not a single Jedi except Yoda had only a small handful of clones around them that could be dispatched by their extraordinary force powers? It was only Yoda that got this lucky treatment? Sounds like extremely contrived plot armor to me, and forced story telling everywhere else. I don't think Lucas created this point at random, I think he did have it firmly in his mind if not from the beginning than at least early on in the movies' production. No my point is rather that there is no build up to this point in any of the movies. No Palpatine secretly consulting with the Kaminos, no scenes or even description of Clones blindly following orders, no Jedi questioning them or even showing loyalty in them beyond following orders, no establishment of how Palpatine instructed the Clones on Order 66, nothing. It's basically a plot point with zero setup, yet it's sort of fundamental to the story. So it feels cheap as an audience member, because it's something that was never established or foreshadowed beforehand. It's a Dues Ex Machina through and through, and thus it loses basically all weight in its punch being so out of left field that he can do that when none of that is established. Finally, this still doesn't really touch on my last point, which is that why should I even really care about this happening? No named Jedi dies from this, so I have no emotional attachment to any of them. I think the closest we get is one dude who spoke at the council for like two lines of dialogue who is shown to be shot down, but I don't know who that is or why he is/was important or interesting. We are supposed to assume that killing Jedi is bad, but I have no real context for why that is true. Weren't the Jedi just waging war across the galaxy to keep the Separatists in the Republic? Are they saving lives with their war? Or fighting for a just cause? What even is the Jedi motivation for going to war? Honestly I have no clue. It's like they were told that the Separatists are bad, and then decided yeah that tracks here is all of our killing forces at your disposal Palpatine, have fun. It's a war that exists just because the OT said there was a clone war, and the Jedi all die just because they need to justify that only Obi Wan and Yoda survived. It's very classic tell instead of show, and it hurts the weight of this part of the film and really every part of the PT. Give me a reason to root for the Jedi, or even a reason to root for the bad guy, or make them grey, what have you, but at least make them have a connection with the audience so that when they all die, there is meaning to their death. They die and with them dies hope for justice and truth and courage and freedom or whatever. But make them strong defenders of that belief, and make their sacrifice feel like a true loss. Don't just kill them because the script says they need to die. Ok, rant over.

Best Star Wars scene, I gotta go with the scene in Return of the Jedi when Luke is speaking with Vader before they enter the throne room. So many great lines of dialogue as Luke tries to pull Vader to the light. And it includes one of my favorite Vader lines: “It is too late for me, son.” Not only is this the most vulnerable we’ve seen Vader up until this point in the original trilogy, but it also gives Luke pretty solid proof that Vader CAN be brought back to the light. Very underrated scene in Revenge of the Sith is the Opera scene. Lucas was never known to be subtle in his dialogue (look at ep 2), but here he does a great job. Having palpatine basically dance around the fact that he’s a sith and has the ability to save padme, and all anakin has to do is leave the Jedi, is a great addition to Anakin’s turn to the dark side

In Ep II:AotC, I like it when Padme professes her love to Anakin in a way that cannot be misunderstood as they are taken out to the arena of their excecution. It's so dramatic and romantic (mind, in the real way of the 1800s cultural era) and it's a pivotal moment as Ani's love for Padme IS the driving factor for the entire saga, and when she returns it, it is soul crushingly beautiful and so bittersweet, because now he is at the mercy of things beyond his control and he's trapped in the web of fate in a way that he is completely clueless of until it's too late.

For RotS, I have to highlight the Opera Scene (though it's been done here already). It really shows Palpatine at his most cunning and manipulative. Even though Anakin's trust in the Jedi order is continuing to strain, Sheev runs into a brick wall trying to straight up convince Anakin that the Jedi aren't so different to the Sith. So instead, he takes his own experiences and reconstitutes it into something like a distant, ancient story to convince Anakin that the dark side has the answers to his fear of losing Padmé, all while not sounding overly flattering of a Sith Lord. For TLJ the scene I love is when Luke is still moping, and R2 plays the projection of Leia asking Obi-Wan for help all the way from ANH. It's nostalgia done way better than any of the other pandering of the sequels, because it serves as a reminder of how Luke became a hero in the first place, while Leia really is in danger once more and needs his help.

Agreed. To me, there’s nothing more Jedi than winning a fight by not fighting. He instead used Kylo’s emotions against him like a judo move. I also loved the design of that planet: the white salt plains with the red earth underneath it. As the battle went on and more red earth was exposed, the battlefield appeared increasingly soaked in blood.

I always liked the introduction of Obi-Wan kenobi in 'A New Hope', the WHOLE sequence where he goes from Ben to Obi-Wan, where he talks about the clone war. Alec Guinness does an amazing job having flashbacks of a story not yet told. When Obi-Wan talks to Luke about his father it can be confusing, but the actor's acting and mannerisms as well as the music, it's all Star Wars to me. A man with painful memories of the war, of his brother, is asked to help his brother's children. A gold scene.

Empire Strikes Back: Luke in the cave. It may not be the most spectacular scene in all of Star Wars, but it's the most impactful, revealing, complex, empathetic, and forever haunting. Luke and Vader's fight at the end on Bespin is the result of this scene and the entire depth of his hero's journey is brought to bear in a beautiful, slo-mo shot that shoots unfiltered adrenaline through the viewer's heart.

The Clone Wars Anakin is the Anakin we all deserved. He's such a better written character than Prequels Anakin. He's actually nuanced and you see his fall to the dark side foreshadowed and built up to in a much more satisfying way over the course of the series. That Dave Filoni managed to do that, while keeping the continuity tight, is nothing short of astonishing. And don't get me started on what he did with Darth Maul as a character. From blank page to fully realized and fleshed out villain. Honestly one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars is Maul's rematch with Obi-Wan in Rebels.

The buildup is great, from Vader and the Empire being on cloud city, having been tracked by Boba Fett, but there is a lot going on in that scene. Han calming down Chewy, telling him that Chewy acting up is not going to help anyone, and Boba Fett ready to jump in and intervene, but Vader grabbing his gun, trying to keep composure in the whole scenario, knowing he has his own goals with the carbon chamber. Lando unsure if his friend is even going to survive the freezing process, And who can forget "I love you" "I know"

Something I didn’t notice until recently is how the whole sequence with Jabba is not only a closure to Han’s smuggler arc, it’s also the main showcase we have of Luke’s powers and personality as a fully developed Jedi. I think he uses both his lightsaber and the Force once each while he is on Endor, and then most of his conflict is emotional and ideological until he goes to strike Palpatine. While there are still excellent sequences in his fight with Vader, the choreography is still second to the emotional weight and drama of the fight. I’m really glad that George went out of his way to showcase Luke’s growth. He’s incredibly calm and patient, as well as forward thinking. Even when he messes up by thinking he can affect Jabba’s mind, his quick thinking and cool head saves him twice with the Rancor. And this is all before he takes on most of Jabba’s men by himself.

The battle of identity in the final lightsaber fight at the end of Return of the Jedi... It's not that Luke defeats Darth Vader. That's almost immaterial to the scene. The truth underlying the flashing swords is that Anakin defeats Darth Vader and Luke defeats Dark Luke. And it takes place at the *exact* same moment. They both look into each others eyes and discover the enormous depth of the love between a father and son. And it is more powerful than all the power in the galaxy that was just laid at each of their feet.

The best scene in Star Wars: Luke and Yoda in TLJ and I will die on this hill. Luke senses his old master and turns around, Yoda calls him “Young Skywalker” because everyone is young to him even thought to us Luke is now old, Luke is determined to burn the tree down but falters so Yoda summons lightning and does it for him and cackles madly. There’s some action as Luke attempts to run in and the flames throw him out, some comedy with Luke not having read the books and Yoda pointing out they weren’t page turners, and his often cryptic wording saying the library had nothing Rey didn’t already possess (in the moment you might think he means the wisdom but we later she has the physical books). Yoda calls out Luke for still looking to the horizon much like when he left to go to Cloud City after seeing a vision, and a reference to Anakin too who had the same flaw, and that he can’t lose Rey. Then the final lesson, that failure is the greatest teacher, and the burden of all that teach. The lighting (especially after the fire starts), the cinematography (the final shot of the two sat looking at the burning tree especially), the music, puppet Yoda! This scene is 3 minutes of sheer Star Wars perfection

Favorite Scene: From Return of the Jedi: Luke and Vader in the hallway, on the way to the emperor. These scene delivers the promise that the conflict is not going to be resolved by Luke killing Vader. The moral of the story is that physical might is not the end all be all, and not always the key to victory. That message resonated with hundreds of millions of people, and it is clarified here, in this scene, as Anakin's inner conflict and regret is sniffed out by his son and revealed to them both, and to the audience. Masterpiece scene.

Hey Brandon! I just wanted to thank you for doing the greatest moments of Star Wars after last week’s video. While I did enjoy it and liked to learn from the more informed takes you can provide, I do love to celebrate things we love about Star Wars. It can be a bit disheartening to be a part of the fandom at times, so I always appreciate the positivity! As for what I think was the best scene? I’d have to say it would be our introduction to the Force and lightsabers at Ben Kenobi’s house. The scene might be a bit bland and straight exposition by today’s standards, but it knew how to capture its audience. It follows the introduction of Obi-Wan, which has been the first big “mystery/objective” of the story, then Obi-Wan immediately starts talking about Jedi, and then the lightsaber comes out. Once a connection between lightsabers, Jedi, the Force has been made, most of the audience has been bought in, hook, line, and sinker. There is also so much setup, foreshadowing, and world building in this little scene, even if Lucas hadn’t thought of all the ideas yet. Nowadays hearing “The Clone Wars” name dropped in the first act of the first movie is a bit mind blowing. Also, even if the twist on Vader wasn’t fully developed yet at this point, the dialogue explaining Vader and Anakin’s backstory was just clear enough to understand, but left more than enough room for both the twist and for Obi-Wan’s “From a certain point of view” defense to work.

The Battle of Hoth is one of my favourite sequences. As the fighting goes on, there's a building sense of desperation, from the moment the massive AT-ATs appear, and every time it cuts from the victory of the snowspeeders taking down one or two walkers back to the soldiers in the trenches getting overwhelmed. Not to mention the slow pace of the almost unstoppable walkers made the Imperial attack seem equally methodical and menacing

My favorite scene of EP 6 is when Luke chooses not to end Darth Vader and refuses to fight anymore defying Sidious. "Never. I’ll Never Turn to the Dark Side. You Failed, Your Highness. I Am a Jedi like My Father Before Me." He even shows respect to Sidious, even when he is the reason of all his problems, he is a TRUE Jedi, same as his father. He is willing to sacrifice himself in order to save the galaxy. And Sidious stares at him with genuinely hate because he knows that what is Luke saying is 100% true. He just gave up on converting him immediately. Even he THE Sith Lord is not all powerful, all of his tactics don't work on Luke, and he doesn't like it, his smile turns into a killer face. Then he says "so be it. JEDI". Think about it, Sidious of all people the Sith Master acknowledges Luke as an authentic Jedi. All of his plans failed as Luke says, because he wanted to eradicate the Jedi, and yet there is one TRUE Jedi, he would never turn Luke to the Dark Side no matter what. This was the first time he couldn't manipulate someone. He realizes that this man is his greatest threat and not another young man he can tempt to the Dark Side. Ironically when Sidious says that, he kinds of cements that Luke in fact, is a Jedi. And now, as a Sith, he must destroy his enemy.

In the OT, my top 3 scenes. I realize I like some of the quieter moments/swells of music or backstory building. SW ANH: I think this is probably an unpopular choice, but any scenes with Alec Guinness are magic. The first conversation where he tells Luke about his father and the Jedi, how Vader 'killed' his father, how he's 'now more machine than anything else.' It sets up so much familial history, and of course foreshadows Obi-wan's own death at Vader's hands. I love the calm of Guiness voice. I wish we had more time with him in the films, but maybe the little we do makes it more precious. ESB: Yoda lifting the tie-fighter. The music, the magic, the awe that both Luke and the audience feel when we see Yoda do what is seemingly impossible. It's the largest show of the force in action in the films yet (I think?) The strength and belief of doing things that seem impossible - it's such a hopeful moment. But also a bit sobering, with the audience getting a glimpse into Luke's immaturity as a burgeoning Jedi: “I don’t believe it.” “That is why you fail.” He is not yet ready, but he COULD be great. Chills. RotJ: I like the scene you chose, but for me, it's the denouement directly after Vader has thrown the emperor down the shoot, he sits dying, and he finally removes his helmet. We see an old, sickly man, but real, human, a father looking at his son. Luke's still trying to go a step further, trying to get him out of the ship and says, "I have to save you." Vader responding with, "You already did", and a peaceful death, while a melancholy refrain of the imperial march plays in the background... chills, magic. Every time.

@@erakfishfishfish I grant you that the ROTJ Ewok fight was an unlikely outcome, but I chalked up the Ewok victory thematically to the Empire's complete hubris in underestimating a small and "primitive" enemy - sort of a microcosm really, for the whole Rebellion. All the traps set up were convenient, but I suppose at least possible if the Ewoks were already preparing to defend themselves against the Empire to begin with. And I always thought the few Ewoks we see getting shot and screaming were meant to indicate that it wasn't going all their way and they actually were taking some serious losses.

The way the young padawan stepped back when Anakin ignited his lightsaber was really effective too, especially because the kid looked and dressed like Episode 1 Anakin.

My Favourite Star Wars scenes: A New Hope: The X Wing Squadron vs the Death Star The Empire Strikes Back: Luke vs Vader (also the "I'm your father" scene). Return of the Jedi: Anakin's redemption & Death. The Phantom Menace: The Pod race sequence. Attack of the Clones: Yoda vs. Count Dooku. Revenge of the Sith: Anakin vs. Obi Wan (including the "You were the Chosen one" speech.)

It is genuinely funny to hear him criticizing Anakin for being reckless only to go flying out of the window at a moment’s notice.

Also, unrelated, but the whole assassin droid scene depicted in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga might be one of the greatest and funniest scenes in a Star Wars video game.

My favourite part of Solo ends up being bittersweet after the fact: the relatively naive Han says, "I've got a really good feeling about this." - obviously an inversion of the famous "I've got a bad feeling about this." line, and which gives us a glimpse at the humor we COULD have gotten with the original version of the Solo movie. In one timeline, Disney had a string of theatrical triumphs. We do not live in that timeline, clearly.

God, this is a good one too. The music, the way it's lit. It feels a little Steelburg-ian with the music, smoke, shadows - I mean that as a compliment. I love their first kiss too. Banter right until the end.

I recently discovered your channel one thing I like is that you don't use profanity. Many reviewers will feel like they need to use swear words to get their point across, but that just seems like a cheap way to do it, but you are able to get your points across and know that you don't need to use f-words to emphasize your point.

A New Hope: I hadn't really put much thought into until this video, but I'd argue that the best scene is the death of Obi-Wan, the immediate "Run, Luke! Run!", a moment of forlorning as the Falcon clears the Death Star, an exciting space battle between the Falcon and TIEs. Such an emotional rollercoaster in just a few minutes!

Favorite in ROTJ: Artoo firing the lightsaber into the air, Luke flipping to catch it, briefly looking at it before handing Jabba’s henchmen their ass. Classic, gives me chills every time.

My all time favourite scene is the cantina scene in ep IV. I just adore the world building and creativity at work and it really felt like a slice of life that isn’t very common in other parts of the films.

If you do the geneology on that, it’s possible that Dark Helmet was Lone Star’s former roommate, provided Lone Star’s dad had at least 2 siblings.

The best Star Wars scene IMO is the battle on Jabba's skiff at the beginning of ROTJ. Luke finally comes into his own and shows that he's become a Jedi Knight. His little salute to R2 to launch his light-saber and the action that follows is the most chill inducing scene in all of Star Wars.

4:29 stands out more in that it's so through-the-motions. So soon, they cut to waist-up shots of the two opponents in turn, so you don't really see their moves. It's like they figure you know what a saber fight looks like so you don't need a proper view of this one.

The final Death Star Battle from start to finish in A New Hope is essentially perfect cinema for me. For a smaller scene, I think Luke with the twin suns on Tatooine while the force theme plays is just so good.

My favorite from the Clone Wars movie is the vertical battle. It's cool, has a great music and most importantly, the scene when Anakin saves Ahsoka. It shows that eventough Anakin is filled with emotions, he can also be the caring jedi master.

For me it’s the Binary Sunset in Star Wars. The quiet intro of the music as we see Luke frustrated. He stops at the ledge and looks beyond to his dream of hope of leaving Tattoonie. The music swells as we feel that same longing. A great character moment, cinematography, music and well just great storytelling!

In episode 9, the only scene I truly appreciate is the continuous shot on the Kijimi, where we see the protagonists hiding in the shadows while observing the First/Final/Whatever Order's stormtroopers searching through the streets and doors like a gestapo crackdown. The way it was shot and the ubiquity of those troopers makes it fairly tense, as it shows that there's no safe place to stay without being spotted.
