I don't know where you got '2/3 times 5' from, but this video was very valuable because you explained that "a fraction times a whole number puts the whole number in the numerator of the fraction."
@demoskritusviltriktlorpse58197 жыл бұрын
The 2/3 times 5 was just an example he was giving. It was not related to the problem.

Or you can do the much more SIMPLE way: (3,4) (2,2) 4=ab^3 /2=ab^2 = 2=b (remember, b^3/b^2= b^1= b AND a cancels out AND 4/2=2). Plug b back into one of the equations to find a: 2=a(2)^2 2=4a a=1/2 Yay, you have your equation: y=1/2(2)^x No use in doing his method.

His method is much better for beginning students because he's solving it using simpler algebra rather than using a system of equations which is a more advanced concept.
@maymayy12086 жыл бұрын
It's better for beginners, or ones that can't do with all the equations

There is a quicker way to do this which is making a table and figuring out the common ratio first, but this helped a lot. Great work.
@gemab.110 Жыл бұрын
Because the points are actually consecutive, you could find b by dividing the two consecutive y-values, and then using one of the points to solve for a. Much easier, but all the roads lead to Rome.
@kickbackprogrammer22536 жыл бұрын
To make these problems even easier. Is set up the same way he did: 2 = a * b^2 and 4=a*b^3. But divide instead of doing the long steps. By putting the larger number on top ( 4=a*b^3) / 2=a*b^2. You can do simple division to find B is 2! 4/2 = 2 The a's cancel subtract the exponents and boom. You find 2=b^1 or just 2=B. Plug into the simplest equation and solve for a. =)

you could of done this much faster, with less work. you have two points so you could of made a graph to find the common ratio=b and count backwards from the 2 points to get your y-intercept=a. you would get f(x)=1/2*2^x

or can't you also just solve for "a" for each equation you wrote, then make the a's sequel to each other and then cross multiply and solve/simplify? i did it that way and the way u showed us and i got the same answer.
