This is typical of Clifford's elliptical mostly self-absorbed presentation that continually refers back to himself and his own work. It was with his Routes, where he goes into detail about his vicious behavior as a child towards his black maid that I understood how he is the same racist he claims to be criticizing in anthropology. He was totally arrogant as a professor, an Harvard snob. I remember he delivers his pearls of wisdom as if it were gold, and once taunted me during an office meeting for not owning a car at age 20 (what an ass!), I guess that is the reason his work has been mostly forgotten.
