@crabshell96224 жыл бұрын
Bruh this is posted 7 years ago he ain’t gonna answer 😂 😂 so ima answer for you 4/1 4 out of 1 Required materials to build a raft: 1/1 you get 1 raft 4/1 you have 3 extra so you get 3 more rafts 1*4=4 With 4x the materials, you get 4x the rafts. 4 rafts. 0/1: you have no materials. You can build no rafts. Or think of it as a test score, if you still don’t get it: You got a 4/1. You got three bonus points. 1/1 meets criteria and 4/1 is outstanding. You have 4x the criteria. You have 4 If still no: He simplified the fraction.

What if the equation is something like y= 6/5x-5 (the 6/5 is a fraction)
@MartyBrandl6 жыл бұрын
We can multiply the whole equation through by 5 to get rid of the fraction. 5(y = (6/5)x - 5) 5y = 6x - 25 Then you can take it from there. I hope that helps! Thanks for asking! :-)

I have a question about y = 2x, you subtracted y but would it matter if you subtracted 2x instead?

You could, but then you'd have to make the 2x positive, so it would be an extra step. 🤷♂️ I hope that helps! Thanks for asking!! :-)

That's ok. If we need a plus sign, we could also write it like this: 2x + (-y) =0 I hope that helps! Thanks for asking! 👍

what if the denominators are different numbers?
@MartyBrandl5 жыл бұрын
Then we would want to multiply the whole equations through by the LCM (least common multiple) of those numbers. For example, if the denominators were 2 and 5, we would multiply the whole equation through by 10 in order to cancel out both of the denominators. I hope that helps! Keep after it! You can do it!! :-)

I have a question what if the linear equation is 3y - 5 + 4(x-y) =6x?
@MartyBrandl3 жыл бұрын
Start by distributing the 4 through to get rid of the parenthesis. Then combine like terms and get the x and y on one side, constant on the other and you'll be set! 👍 I hope that helps!

why does the 4 cancel out in the last question?
@MartyBrandl3 жыл бұрын
Because we can divide by 4 on the top and bottom to simplify the fractions. We could also multiply across 4(1) = 4 on top and 1(4) = 4 on the bottom. That gives us 4/4 which equals 1. I hope that helps! 👍

Why can't the X or Y term be negative exactly?
@MartyBrandl7 жыл бұрын
Several Succulents Just the x-term has to be positive. It is actually just a nice way to write an equation so that everyone's answer looks the same. Be sure to pay attention to what your teacher and/or textbook ask for in terms of "standard form". I hope that helps! :-)

Why are schools requiring us to work on this when it's never going to Aid us in our daily lives. We should be working on stuff that will actually help us in the future not s*** that we will forget in 5 years
@MartyBrandl4 жыл бұрын
One point of school is to expose you to lots of different things. Someone in your class might find this math interesting! It's ok if you don't, it's great that everyone enjoys different things. Another reason for school is learning how to learn. It would be impossible for us to learn what we "actually" need and that's all. I learn new things every day and sometimes it is just an appreciation for things that others know a lot about. There are very few jobs where you can walk in on day 1 and know how to do everything and be done learning. Education is about freedom. If we choose not to know at least a little about lots of things, it would be really easy to be taken advantage of because we wouldn't even know any better! 😱 I like freedom and I don't like getting taken advantage of, so I love to learn! 👍😁
