Truly inspiring words. I can't wait to see the projects George C. Johnson mentioned. I hope he does live forever. The only thing I wish is that there was at least one female writer represented.

If you adapt Foundation into a movie, I will be the happiest! I just discovered the book 2 years ago and I fell in love with Science Fiction all over again.

Agreed. Maybe one or few were invited but I somehow doubt that for a 2011 event.

My gosh, what a great panel! I love what everyone had to say, and I have never heard of or seen George Clayton until this video, but I really would like to be like him, only more sober.

I thought this was about sci-fi but all I hear is an old egomaniac sharing his life story.

Just wanna say... I couldn't finish watching the old guy's comments about the Reniassance because he's totally clueless about that period of history - obviously. He began talking about some rich guy with property and wanted to invest in his son's education and send him to school. WRONG! During the Reniassance period, the church ran crazy and confiscated any property and/or money that belonged to ANYBODY. Without a doubt. In fact the church went out of it's way to plunder the richest areas. And anyone who rebelled was tried as a witch and/or heretic. If you knew how to read or owned even ONE book you were automatically a witch. However if that one book was a Bible, then you were no longer a witch but a heretic and the result was the same: you were tried, convicted, tortured horribly and then burned at the stake. Sometimes entire towns were wiped out. Most people associate women as victims of the witch-burning craze and, even though women were primarily the victims, this wasn't always the case. Many men were killed and even some children were victims as well. For sure, many old people were wiped off the face of the earth. So... some rich guy who wanted to send his kid to school was insane. If he had any money he'd escape with a pocket full of coins and forefit everything else. You can't torture and burn someone who you couldn't find at home. THEN even more importantly you wouldn't want to be educated or let anyone know you could read. AND you wouldn't teach your kid either. (Unless you hated your kid and wanted to have him tortured and burned.)

Sounds like a polemic against the Church, I'm no fan of it either, but come on, it couldn't have been that bad - then again, perhaps I'm the idiot!
